New Everest Trailer – Jake Gyllenhaal, Sam Worthington & Jason Clarke go mountaineering

August 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

everest-poster1-slideThere’s no doubt that things are dangerous when you go mountaineering, and that’s certainly true in Everest, which follows the events of what was the biggest tragedy on the mountain until the recent Nepal earthquake.

Now a new trailer has arrived, which certainly highlights those dangers.

Here the synopsis: ‘Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, Everest documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival. The epic adventure stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, Emily Watson and Jake Gyllenhaal.’

The film is out in UK Cinemas 18th September. [Read more…]

Everest Trailer – Jake Gyllenhaal, Sam Worthington & Jason Clarke head for the Himalayas

June 4, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

everest-poster1Following the recent tragedy on Everest caused by the Nepal earthquake, the marketing for San Andreas was deliberately toned down. You have to imagine there were a lot of serious conversations about this one, which is based on the true story of the greatest disaster to hit the mountain until this year.

This first trailer certainly highlights the danger while saying little about the tragedy, and the synopsis glosses over it too.

Here it is: ‘Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, Everest documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind.

The film is out in UK Cinemas 24th September. [Read more…]

New A Most Wanted Man Trailer – Take a look at one of Philip Seymour Hoffman’s final roles

April 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While we’ll get to see Philip Seymour Hoffman pop up in a supporting part in the two Hunger Games: Mockingjay movies (which he was in the middle of shooting when he died), his final major role is in A Most Wanted Man.

Now a new trailer has arrived, giving us a fresh look at Anton Corbijn’s take on John Le Carre’s tale.

Set in Hamburg, Germany, the plot is about a mysterious man who is near death and looking to retrieve his late father’s fortune. Philip Seymour Hoffman plays a German spy chief who tries to determine the mystery man’s identity. Rachel McAdams, Willem Dafoe, Daniel Bruhl and Robin Wright co-star.

It’s due out in the UK later this year, with a July US date currently set. [Read more…]

Sam Worthington & Robin Wright Are Going Up Everest With Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke & Josh Brolin

March 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Sam WorthingtonYou’d think it would be a little late to add new cast members to Everest as it started shooting over a month ago, but Deadline reports that a couple of latecomers have signed on, with Sam Worthington and Robin Wright joining the movie.

They’ll star alongside the previously cast Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, John Hawkes, Jason Clarke and Emily Watson.

The film’s synopsis states, ‘Inspired by the incredible events surrounding a treacherous attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, EVEREST documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest of elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.’

Sam Worthington is playing New Zealand adventurer Guy Cotter, while Robin Wright is Peach, the wife of Beck Weathers (Josh Brolin).

Baltasar Kormákur (2 Guns, Contraband) is directing from a script by William Nicholson (Les Miserables, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom). House Of Cards – Season 1 (Blu-ray)

June 12, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, Corey Stoll, Kate Mara
Director: Various
Running Time: 674 mins
Certificate: 18
Release Date: June 10th 2013

Most businesses try out new things by dipping their toe in and limiting their financial exposure, testing the waters before going full hog. However Netflix isn’t that kind of company. For their second original series (after Lilyhammer), some sources suggest they spent $100 million on House Of Cards.

They also managed to draw in such big names as David Fincher to produce on the promise that unlike with normal TV, they’d be relatively hands off and just let the show’s team create. They didn’t stint on the cast either, luring in the likes of Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. [Read more…]

A Most Wanted Man Trailer – First look at Anton Corbijn’s take on John Le Carre’s tale

June 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Following the success of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, there’s been a lot of interest taking more John Le Carre’s stories to the screen.

One that’s on its way is Anton Corbijn’s A Most Wanted Man, which stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rachel McAdams, Willem Dafoe, Daniel Bruhl and Robin Wright. Now the first trailer has arrived, which was put together to help the independent movie get international sales.

Set in Hamburg, Germany, the plot is about a mysterious man who is near death and looking to retrieve his late father’s fortune. Two Mothers Trailer – Naomi Watts and Robin Wright want to sleep with each other’s sons

February 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A movie about two women who want to sleep with each other’s sons sounds like it’s either going to be something sleazy or some sort of grossout comedy, but Two Mothers is actually based on a novella by Nobel laureate Doris Lessing.

The movie sees Naomi Watts and Robin Wright as two women who’ve been friends for decades and live next to one another on an Aussie beach. However their idyllic but lonely lives get a little more complicated when the women start eyeing each others sons – Xavier Samuel and James Frecheville – with more than maternal affection.

Anne Fontaine’s film certainly looks intriguing, although whether it can handle its tricky subject matter is yet to be seen.

Naomi Watts On For The Grandmothers

December 5, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Naomi Watts is going home, as THR reports that she’s signed on for the Australian movie The Grandmothers, which has just got the greenlight. French director Anne Fontaine (Coco Before Chanel) will direct the movie, which is based on a novel by Aussie Nobel Prize-winner Doris Lessing and has been adapted for the screen by Christopher Hampton (Atonement, A Dangerous Method).

Watts isn’t the only actor onboard, as Robin Wright has signed up for the other main role, in this story of two lifelong friends who cause more than a bit of a scandal with they fall in love with each other’s teenage sons. The sons will be played by Twilight’s Zavier Samuel and Animal Kingdom’s James Frecheville. It’s billed as an ‘erotic tale of misguided love and a celebration of the enduring nature of female friendship’.
