Sam Worthington Up For The Riders

While he waits for James Cameron to finally get ready to shoot the sequels to Avatar, Sam Worthington has been busy filming up his schedule. Now he’s attached to another movie, The Riders, according to Moviehole.

Based on a novel by Tim Winter, the film is about an ‘Australian expatriate Scully (Worthington) who prepares to start a new life with his wife Jennifer and young daughter Bille in Ireland. His life is blown apart when he goes to the airport to meet his family, but finds only Billie and no message from his missing wife. With Billie in tow, he travels to Korcula and Paris in search of Jennifer: beginning a journey of self discovery that will alter the course of his life in ways he could never have envisaged.’

Timothy Spall and Charles Dance are also set for the movie, which will shoot on the Dalmatian Coast and in Paris, with Robert Connolly directing. The plan is for the film to be ready for release by January 2014.

Josh Holloway Signs Up To Join Arnie In Breacher

The cast for Breacher has certainly got a lot better in the last few weeks. For months we just new Arnie was going to be in it, but more recently he’s been joined by the likes of Sam Worthington, Terrence Howard, Dawn Olivieri, Joe Manganiello, and Malin Akerman. Now Variety reports that Josh Holloway is in negotiations to star too, for director David Ayer.

The movie is about a team of corrupt DEA agents who steal millions from a drug cartel, under the guise of a routine raid. While the team thinks they have gotten away with the perfect crime, they start getting knocked off, one by one. Josh Holloway will play Neck, the medic of this shady unit.

Skip Woods wrote the screenplay, with shooting scheduled to begin this October in Atlanta.

Malin Akerman In Talks To Join Arnie In Breacher

Watchmen actress Malin Akerman is in negotiations to join the burgeoning cast of Breacher for director David Ayer, joining the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sam Worthington, Terrence Howard, Dawn Olivieri and Joe Manganiello.

The movie is about a corrupt team of DEA agents who rob a Mexican drug cartel’s safe house, under the guise of a routine raid. The agents think they are in the clear, but then the team start getting killed off, one by one. Akerman will play one of the agents. Variety described the film as a ‘testosterone-heavy riff on Agatha Christie’s Ten Little Indians’.

Skip Woods (The A-Team, A Good Day to Die Hard) wrote the screenplay. Production is scheduled to begin this October in Atlanta. (Source: Variety)

Terrence Howard Joins Arnie & Sam Worthington In Breacher

Iron Man actor Terrence Howard and House of Lies star Dawn Olivieri have joined Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sam Worthington in the cast of director David Ayer’s Breacher, which was formerly known as Ten.

The crime drama is about a team of corrupt DEA agents who pull off an elaborate heist, under the guise of a routine drug raid. The plot thickens when the agents are killed off, one by one. Terrence Howard and Dawn Olivieri will play two members of the DEA squad, who are having an affair while conspiring to steal the money for themselves.

Skip Woods wrote the screenplay, with filming set to begin this October in Atlanta. (Source: THR)

Sam Worthington In Talks To Join Arnie In Ten

Two terminators could be getting together in Ten as Sam Worthington is in early talks to join Arnold Schwarzenegger in the thriller Ten. Variety says The Avatar star plans on accepting the offer, if his representatives can work out the financial details.

News of the project first served back in May, when Arnold Schwarzenegger signed up. The movie is about a corrupt team of DEA agents who pull off an elaborate heist that is made to look like a routine drug raid. After hiding the millions in cash they stole, the unit believes their secret is safe, until the team members are assassinated, one by one. No specific character details are known for Sam Worthington’s role.

David Ayer (End of Watch) is set to direct from a screenplay by Skip Woods (A Good Day to Die Hard, The A-Team).

With Man On A Ledge hitting DVD & Blu-ray in the UK on Monday (June 11th), we thought it was high time that we saluted the manliness of Sam Worthington with a bit of a picture tribute. The Aussie actor may not be classically beautiful, but he has a rugged handsomeness and everyman quality that undoubtedly makes him incredibly attractive.

From Avatar and Terminator: Salvation to Clash Of The Titans and Texas Killing Fields, he’s become quite the all-action star, so enjoy our hot pics of the actor. Texas Killing Fields (DVD)

Based loosely on a true story, Mike Sounder (Sam Worthington) and Brian Heigh (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) play two cops investigating crime in the Texas bayous. Heigh becomes increasingly drawn to a series of murders where the bodies of the victims are dumped in an area that’s become known as The Killing Fields. Local guy Souder warns New York transplant Heigh against getting too deep into the investigation, partly because it’s outside their jurisdiction and partly because he knows it’s dangerous and you can get lost in trying to make sense of what’s going on.

However Heigh can’t give up and soon attracts the attention of the killer, who starts to seem as if he’s taunting the police with red herring clues. Then a local girl goes missing and the stakes are raised. [Read more…]

You’d think that after Clash of The Titans, Perseus might want to take it easy on the monster killing front, but as this featurette shows, he’s got plenty on his plate in Wrath Of The Titans, including the fearsome Chimera, which is a mictures of various different animals all thrown together and turned into the beast from hell! Anthony Mandler Takes On Last Days Of American Crime

Commercials and music videos have become the de facto training ground for Hollywood directors nowadays, replacing TV as the main place top-flight talent first gets discovered. The latest getting a shot a Hollywood is Anthony Mandler, who has worked with Rihanna, Jay-Z and Eminem on music videos and with David Beckham on commercials, and is now in early talks to direct his first film, The Last Days of American Crime, taking over from the previously attached F. Gary Gray.

Noomi Rapace and Sam Worthington are already attached to the movie, which is based on a graphic novel by Rick Remender. Here’s the official synopsis: ‘In the not-too-distant future as a final response to terrorism and crime, the U.S. government plans in secret to broadcast a signal making it impossible for anyone to knowingly commit unlawful acts. To keep this from the public, the government creates a distraction, installing a new currency system using digital charge cards.

‘Enter: Graham Brick. A career criminal never quite able to hit the big score, Graham intends to steal one of the charging stations, skip the country and live off unlimited funds for the rest of his life. But the media has leaked news of the anti-crime signal one week before it was to go live…and now Graham and his team have just a few days to turn the crime of the century into the last crime in American history.’

It’s not known when the film may start shooting.

New Wrath Of The Titans Trailer

A couple of year ago Sam Worthington’s Perseus clashed with the Titans, and now he’s going to feel their wrath with the sequel to the Greek mythological hit arrives in cinemas on March 30th. Now a new trailer has popped up over at Yahoo! and we’ve embedded it here. The trailer certainly is action packed, and we’ll just have to hope the action makes more sense than it did in Clash Of The Titans. This time around Perseus embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, who has been targeted for capture by his traitorous son, Ares, and his brother, Hades. Enjoy the mythological madness below.
