Jupiter Ascending (Blu-ray Review)

June 28, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Running Time: 127 mins

When Jupiter Ascending was moved from a prime Summer 2014 cinema release to early 2015, it didn’t auger well. And when the reviews finally rolled in, it looked like people were right to be suspicious of the Wachowskis’ $175 million space opera. However, while it’s far from being a masterpiece, there is just about enough fun peeking through the nonsense.

Mila Kunis is Jupiter Jones, a seemingly normal girl from a Russian immigrant family, who is working as a cleaner and unsure what to do with her life (or even if she should bother to do anything). However, it turns out she is the genetic reincarnation of a murdered space queen, and because of that, she should be able to inherit the queen’s vast wealth. [Read more…]

Silent Hill Revelation Trailer

July 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The film version of Silent Hill wasn’t exactly a huge success (although it could have been worse), but if they were going to make a sequel, you’d have thought they’d have done it several year ago. But now, six years on, we get Silent Hill: Revelations, which sees Sean Bean and Radha Mitchell back in the world of the videogame, although the action gets a bit of teen focus this time. In the film, young Heather Mason and her father (Bean) have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand, Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by horrific nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she’s not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her forever. The movie’s due out at Halloween.

Sean Bean Playing Transgender Character In Accused

January 12, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When Hollywood calls on him, they normally want Sean Bean to be a bad guy (or someone who gets killed relatively quickly), but he played a surprisingly large range of characters during his career. Now he’s going in a direction he hasn’t touched before, playing a transgender character looking for love in the second series of TV’s Accused.

Bean plays an English teacher called Simon and female alter ego Tracie, whose search for romance leads to a ‘terrible crime of passion’.

Bean commented, “I’ve wanted to work on a Jimmy McGovern drama for a while and I think this cracking script really delivers a powerful, emotional drama for the audience.”

If you want to watch out for it, it’ll be the third of four new episodes of Accused.

Bean plays an English teacher called Simon and his alter ego Tracie, with Simon’s search for romance leading him into a ‘terrible crime of passion’.
