Christian Slater Joins Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac

September 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Christian Slater is the latest actor to sign onto the surprisingly high profile cast of director Lars von Trier’s erotic drama The Nymphomaniac, just as shooting gets underway in Cologne, Germany, according to Variety.

The story, told through eight different chapters, is about Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and her life as a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac. The plot follows her from birth until the age of 50. Christian Slater will portray Joe’s father. Stellan Skarsgård also stars as Seligman, a man who Joe tells her sexual adventures to after he finds her beaten in an alley. The cast also includes Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, and Connie Nielsen.

Lars von Trier is directing from his own original screenplay and has said the movie will be shot in two versions, one featuring hardcore sex, while the other will be softer.

The Company You Keep Trailer – Shia LaBeouf is after Robert Redford

August 31, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Company You Keep debuts soon at TIFF, and as a result the first trailer for the movie has arrived, which sees Shia LaBeouf trying to track down Robert Redford, who also directs. The drama is Redford’s first time in front of a camera since 2007’s Lions for Lambs, and sees him playa former Weather Underground militant who’s been wanted by the FBI for 30-years, but is forced out of hiding and on the lam when a young journalist (LaBeouf) uncovers his true identity. The script is adapted from the novel of the same name by Neil Gordon. No UK release date is currently set.

Jamie Bell Joins Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac

August 27, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Last week we learned that Shia LaBeouf may be having real sex on-screen in Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac, and now THR reports that Jamie Bell and Connie Nielsen are joining him (in the movie, not in an on-screen threesome – although who knows!).

With the shoot starting tomorrow in Germany, other cast members have also been announced, including Nicolas Bro (Warhorse), Jesper Christensen (Quantum of Solice) Jens Albinus (Idiots), Shanti Roney (Together) and Severin von Hoensbroech (Ruhm). Nicole Kidman and Willem Dafoe have been linked to Nymphomaniac, but it hasn’t been confirmed whether they’ll actually appear in the movie.

Stellan Skarsgård and Charlotte Gainsbourg were previously attached to star in the movie, which has been promised in two versions. The first will be a softer version and the second will be a hardcore edition. The story centres on the erotic adventures of a woman called Joe (Gainsbourg) from her youth to the age of fifty, who is a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac. Skarsgård’s character finds her beaten in an alley and after taking her home to care for her, she tell him her story.

As for whether all these actors really will be shagging on-screen, producers have said much of it will be done through the use of body doubles and visual effects, although we’ll have to wait and see.

Lawless Red Band Trailer – More violence from the star-studded prohibition-era drama

August 22, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s a lot of good buzz surrounding Lawless (we’ve seen it and out review will be up shortly before its September 7th UK release). Now a new red band trailer for the film has arrived, which ups level of violence and skin for the prohibition-era drama. Directed by John Hillcoat from a script by him and Proposition cohort Nick Cave, Lawless is based on Matt Bodurant’s book about the author’s grandfather and two great-uncles, who were part of a fierce criminal gang at the centre of the US’s moonshine trade during prohibition. The story also follows a writer named Sherwood Anderson, who is on the trail of the bootlegging gang. The film has a great cast, with Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, Jessica Chastain, and Mia Wasikowska onboard.

Is Shia LaBeouf Going To Be Having Real Sex In His New Film?

August 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

shia-labeouf-indiana-jones3It appears that Shia LeBeouf fans have something to get very excited about. Recently it was rumoured he was in talks to join Lars Von Trier’s nymphomaniac, a film we knew was going to feature some hardcore scenes (there’ll be both hardcore and softcore versions created). However what we didn’t know is whether the on-screen sex was going to involve LaBeouf, and is his character is involved, whether there would be a body double.

Well, while LaBeouf was slightly elliptical in a new interview with MTV, he does seem to suggest he will indeed be getting it on for real in the movie. He says, “There’s a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says we’re doing it for real. Everything that is illegal, we’ll shoot in blurred images. Other than that, everything is happening.”

It seems LaBeouf was interested in working with a ‘dangerous’ director like Melancholia and Antichrist’s Lars Von Trier, as well as pushing himself beyond the edge of what he’d normally be comfortable with. If you live in the US, you can see the MTV interview with Shia here. LaBeouf has said recently he’s no longer that interested in making big, shiny Hollywood movies and will instead be looking to work in smaller, more challenging projects with ‘visionary’ directors. Nymphomaniac seems to fit with that, even if he does admit to being rather scared of Von Trier.

Just a few years ago having real sex in a film would have been career suicide for someone of LaBeouf’s stature, but many are likely to see this as a brave choice for Shia, especially if the movie is good and not just of prurient interest. The film centres on the erotic adventures of a woman from her youth to the age of fifty. It is told through the eyes of her husband Joe (Stellan Skarsgård). Shia LaBeouf’s exact role in the film has not been revealed. Charlotte Gainsbourg also star.

This won’t be LaBeouf’s first brush with nudity, as he recently appeared nude in an experimental music video from Sigur Ros. The image above is from that short film, and you can watch the whole thing here.

Shia LaBeouf Circles Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac

August 10, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A couple of months ago, Shia LaBeouf stripped off for a Sigur Ros video, but it seems that didn’t get the on-screen sexuality out of his system, as THR reports that he’s in talks for Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac.

Stellan Skarsgård and Charlotte Gainsbourg are already attached to star in the movie, which has already been promised in two version. The first will be a softer version and the second will be more explicit. The story centres on the erotic adventures of a woman from her youth to the age of fifty. It is told through the eyes of her husband Joe (Stellan Skarsgård). Shia LaBeouf’s role in the film has not been revealed. It isn’t known either quite how explicit Von Trier will expect him to get.

Shooting on Nymphomaniac is scheduled to begin in September.

Shia LaBeouf Gets Nekkid In New Sigur Ros Music Video (NSFW)

June 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Shia LaBeouf is showing off his arty side – and his penis – in a new Sigur Rós music video, which is part of the excellent, artsy Icelandic band’s Mystery Film Experiment series (you can find out more about that here). Directed by Alma Har’el, the eight-minute video stars Shia LaBeouf and dancer Denna Thomsen, with the music being Fjögur píanó from Sigur Rós’ album Valtari.

As well as getting to see mini-Shia, it’s actually quite an interesting and thoughtful cyclical short film, so take a look. And of course, because of the presence of Mr. LaBeouf’s genitals and Thomsen’s lady parts, it is NSFW. [Read more…]

Rupert Grint Lands Roles In Charlie Countryman & CBGB

May 24, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have been lining up movie roles, things have been quieter on the Rupert Grint front. However now the young actor has booked two roles, according to Variety, as he’ll appear in Fredrik Bond’s The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman and Randall Miller’s CBGB.

In The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman, Shia LaBeouf stars as Charlie Countryman, who is just a normal guy until he falls in love with the one girl who will probably get him killed. When Charlie meets the absolutely irresistible Gabi she’s already been claimed by Nigel, an insanely violent crime boss with a gang of thugs at his disposal. It isn’t known exactly who grint will play.

CBGB recently booked Alan Rickman to CBGB club owner Hilly Kristal. The film follows the New York City club’s impact on the underground music scene, where it almost inadvertently gave birth to punk. Grint will play Cheetah Chrome of the Dead Boys, who played a prominent role during the club’s rise.

May 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment
