Tom Hardy Is Looking Hot As Mad Max Fury Road Character Posters Debut

July 27, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

mad-max-fury-road-character-poster1Mad Max Fury Road is finally set to arrive in cinemas May 2015 after a ridiculously long time in development and almost three years after it was actually filmed. To help get the excitement building the film has made it presence felt at Comic Con, and that includes releasing the rather cool posters you can see above and below.

They feature Tom Hardy as the titular Max, Charlize Theron’s Imperator Furiosa, Hugh Keays-Bynre as Immortal Joe and an almost unrecognisable Nicholas Hoult as Nux.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.
‘Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order… There’s Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos.

‘And… Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.’

Tom Hardy & Charlize Theron Get A Mad Max Fury Road EW Cover

June 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

mad-max-fury-road-ew-coverAfter decades in the works, followed by more delays, casting changing, a storm that destroyed the sets and moved the shoot from Australia to South Africa and various other issues, Mad Max Fury Road finally started shooting at the end of 2012.

Despite that, the release is still almost a year away! It had better be good when it finally arrives.

Despite the fact it’s been in the can for a long time, we’ve hardly seen anything from the movie. But to show us it hasn’t been completely forgotten, as great shot of Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron for the movie has popped up on the cover of EW, which you can see above.

Director George Miller previously told /Film of the movie, ‘Mad Max is caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa. This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived.’

Early test screenings have already taken place, and the response has reportedly been good. However most of us will have to wait until May 2015 to see it.

The Drop International Trailer – Plus a poster for the Tom Hardy thriller

June 21, 2014 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

drop-uk-quad-largeThe Drop, based on Dennis Lehane’s short story Animal Rescue, marks the final screen role for James Gandolfini, who stars alongside the always excellent Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace.

Now the international trailer and a poster has arrived for the movie. You can see the latter above and the former below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘THE DROP is a new crime drama from Michaël R. Roskam, the Academy Award nominated director of BULLHEAD. Based on a screenplay from Dennis Lehane (MYSTIC RIVER, GONE BABY GONE), THE DROP follows lonely bartender Bob Saginowski (Tom Hardy) through a covert scheme of funnelling cash to local gangsters – “money drops” – in the underworld of Brooklyn bars. Under the heavy hand of his employer and cousin Marv (James Gandolfini), Bob finds himself at the centre of a robbery gone awry and entwined in an investigation that digs deep into the neighbourhood’s past where friends, families, and foes all work together to make a living – no matter the cost.

‘THE DROP will be released in UK cinemas on November 14, 2014.’ [Read more…]

It’s Two Tom Hardys For The Price Of One (Including A Bisexual One) In The First Pic From Legend

June 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Tom-Hardy-LegendThe crime thriller Legend started shooting this week and to get us excited the first pic has been released, via ThePlaylist, which shows us not one but two Tom Hardys, as he’s playing both of the infamous London gangsters the Kray Twins.

The film will ‘chart the tortured and unique relationship between gangsters Ronald and Reginald Kray, the identical twin brothers infamous for their criminal exploits in London during the 1950s and 1960s… The script takes in associates, rivals – such as notorious gangster Jack “the Hat” McVitie, who was murdered by Reginald in 1967 – politician Lord Boothby, and the brothers’ nemesis in the police force, DS Leonard “Nipper” Read, who made it his life’s ambition to put the Krays behind bars.’

The brothers were involved in armed robberies, arson, protection rackets, assaults, and several murders, and became infamous in the Swinging Sixties, mixing with celebs and giving off an aura of immunity. However they were eventually arrested in 1968 and sentenced to life in prison.

In the pic, Ronnie is the one with glasses and Reggie is the one without. What’s not known is how the film will deal with the sexuality of Reggie Kray, who was bisexual (while some say he exclusively slept with men, he identified as bisexual). He is believed to have been quite open about this even at the height of his gangster exploits. However it is known the film will deal with him trying to keep his brothers’ psychotic tendencies in check.

Will Tom Hardy Or Benedict Cumberbatch Be Marvel’s Doctor Strange?

June 7, 2014 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

tom-hardyWith the news a couple of days ago that Scott Derrickson will direct Marvel’s comic book movie Doctor Strange, it was inevitable that rumours and speculation would emerge about who would play the character.

Now we’ve got two names to mull over, as Deadline reports that Marvel is apparently considering Tom Hardy and Benedict Cumberbatch for the title role. Earlier this week it was suggested that Oscar winner Jared Leto may also be up for the part.

Doctor Strange was mentioned in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and it’s known Marvel has been developing a stand-alone film for the character for some time. However while a director has been announced, at the moment we don’t know exactly when it will be released.

2016 is the presumption at this point, which would mean Marvel will probably be hoping to fill the title role fairly soon. However at this stage its not known if there have been any talks at all with Cumberbatch, Hardy or Leto’s people, or whether at the moment the actors are merely on a wishlist.

Tom Hardy May Reunite With Leonardo DiCaprio For The Revenant

June 4, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tom-hardyIt appears Tom Hardy may have been missing his old Inception chum Leonardo DiCaprio, as TheWrap reports that he’s in talks to co-star opposite Leo in The Revenant.

DiCaprio has had the film on the backburner for several years but is now hoping to make it his next movie.

The Revenant is based on Michael Punke’s novel, The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge. DiCaprio will play Hugh Glass, a 19th century fur trapper who is mauled by a grizzly bear, left for dead and then robbed. When he survives against all odds, he sets out on a treacherous journey to exact revenge on his betrayers.

It’s not clear who Hardy might be, although it’s speculated he’ll be the main villain, a role Sean Penn was once attached to.

Alejandro González Iñárritu is set to direct the movie from a script he co-wrote with Mark L. Smith,

Tom Hardy Takes On The True American With Kathryn Bigelow Directing

May 15, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tom-hardy-slideHurt Locker & Zero Dark Thirty’s Kathryn Bigelow is leaving war zones behind but she’s sticking with the War On Terror, but this time looking at one of the effects on American soil with The True American.

And now TheWrap reports that Tom Hardy has signed up to star.

The movie is based on the non-fiction book by the New York Times’s Anand Giridharadas, about self-styled ‘Arab Slayer’ Mark Stroman. The Texas born Stroman killed two middle-eastern immigrants in the wakes of 9/11.

He also attempted to kill another man by shooting him in the head while he was working at a Dallas convenience store. However the Muslim immigrant – who was a veteran of the Bangladesh Air Force – survived and ended up trying to let his attacker get spared from the death penalty.

Kathryn Bigelow is directing and producing the film, although it’s not clear when it will shoot.

Crush Of The Day: Tom Hardy Gets His Shirt Off For The Cover Of Esquire

April 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tom-hardy-esquire1Tom Hardy is not a man who’s averse to getting his kit off, and for that we can all be thankful. The latest excuse he’s found to get his shirt off is for the cover of Esquire magazine.

And if you’re a fan of chiselled, tatted, hairy guys, you’re in for a treat.

However in the accompanying interview he suggests that his man’s man image isn’t the whole story. He says, “I have always been frightened with men. To the point where I couldn’t go into a gym because of the testosterone and I felt weak. I don’t feel very manly. I don’t feel rugged and strong and capable in real life, not how i imagine a man ought to be. So I seek it, to mimic it and maybe understand it, or maybe to draw it into my own reality. People who are scary, they terrify me, but I can imitate them. I’m not a fighter. I’m a petite little bourgeosis boy from London. I don’t fight, I mimic.”

Please insert your own joke here about finding a way to test his manliness.

Take a look at a couple more shots of Tom from Esquire below (click on them for larger versions). [Read more…]

Tom Hardy Is Going Musical With London Road, Alongside Olivia Colman

April 6, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Tom Hardy in Warrior

Tom Hardy

When you look at Tom Hardy, few people think, ‘there’s a man who ought to be in musicals’, but he’s setting out to proved them wrong, as The Daily Mail reports that Hardy and Olivia Colman have signed up to star in the musical London Road for Broken director Rufus Norris (another person you wouldn’t necessarily think would be making a musical).

Although as those names suggest, this isn’t your usual musical.

The film will be adapted from the stage version, which is set in the Norfolk town of Ipswich during the time a serial killer murdered five women in the space of just a few weeks. Hardy will only have a small role, playing cab driver Mark, who has a single scene where he sings about the difficult passions he had as a teenager.

Hardy apparently loved the musical on stage and personally approached Norris to appear in the movie version.

The incredible Colman meanwhile is Julie, a Neighbourhood Watch organiser who comes up with the idea for ‘London Road In Bloom’, where they organise and put up hanging baskets full of plants, singing to provide a distraction from the darkness and fear that’s swept over the town. Linzi Hateley, who starred in London Role on stage, will reprise her role as a retired school teacher and Neighbourhood Watch secretary, Anita Dobson is set to play a line dancer.

Eloise Laurence, who starred alongside Tim Roth in Norris’ directorial debut, Broken, will be one of several young schoolgirls.

Rufus Norris is directing from a script he co-wrote with Moira Buffini and the play’s creators, Alecky Blythe and Adam Cork.
