First Horns Clip Arrives – Daniel Radcliffe faces down a gun

September 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Horns is a rather intriguing movie, with Daniel Radcliffe getting even more grown up than ever, and even sporting the titular forehead attachments. The film is premièring at TIFF and to coincide with that, the first clip for the film has arrived, which sees Radcliffe dealing with an armed David Morse.

Based on the best-selling novel by Joe Hill (son of Stephen King) and directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D) from a screenplay by Keith Bunin (In Treatment), Horns is a supernatural thriller that follows Ig Perrish (Radcliffe), the number one suspect for the violent rape and murder of his girlfriend, Merrin (Juno Temple).

Hungover from a night of hard drinking, Ig awakens one morning to find horns starting to grow from his own head and soon realises their power drives people to confess their sins and give in to their most selfish and unspeakable impulses – an effective tool in his quest to discover the true circumstances of his late girlfriend’s tragedy and for exacting revenge on her killer. It’ll hit cinemas next year.

Daniel Radcliffe has really got the horn, as you can see above. The movie the pics above and below are from, Horns, premieres tomorrow at the Toronto Film Festival, and to mark that EW has released three new images (to add to the first pic that came a few months ago).

And while might have something sticking out of his forehead, he’s still looking good.

Daniel Radcliffe Gets Arrested (but only on the set of his new film)

November 7, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Harry Potter is so grown up he’s getting arrested! Well, Daniel Radcliffe’s character in his new movie is anyway. He’s currently shooting Horns, which as you as you can see from the pics above and below, sees him as a young man who literally gets horny.

Omelete managed to get to get hold of some pics from the set, which see Radcliffe getting physical with a man and then resisting arrest!

Daniel Radcliffe Gets Horny In First Image From Horns

October 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Since the end of Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe has been busy showing us he’s not really a teenage wizard, and while he still looked a tad schoolboy-like in Woman In Black, he’s certainly looking a lot more grown up in the first picture from Horns (and of course, he’s got horns growing out of his head).

Based on the best-selling novel by Joe Hill and directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D) from a screenplay by Keith Bunin (In Treatment), Horns is a supernatural thriller that follows Ig Perrish (Radcliffe), the number one suspect for the violent rape and murder of his girlfriend, Merrin (Juno Temple).

It certainly sounds like an interesting role for radcliffe, and we have to say that he looks kind of cool with horns on his head. The actor comments, “It’s a very, very different type of part than anything I’ve done before. To play somebody who, in the midst of a time in his life of great turmoil anyway, undergoes this horrific transformation into a devil character – it was very, very exciting.” (Image via EW)

Juno Temple & Joe Anderson Have Horns

September 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Juno Temple (The Dark Knight Rises), Joe Anderson (The Crazies) and Kelli Garner (The Aviator) are the latest actors to board the supernatural fantasy/thriller Horns, according to Variety. They join the already cast Daniel Radcliffe and Max Minghella.

Based on the best-selling novel by Joe Hill, Horns is set to be directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D) from a screenplay by Keith Bunin (In Treatment). The movie is a supernatural thriller that follows Ig Perrish (Radcliffe), the number one suspect for the violent rape and murder of his girlfriend, Merrin (Temple).

The widely acclaimed book was on the New York Times best seller list for six weeks, and has become an international bestseller. Principal photography is slated to begin this fall.

Max Minghella Gets The Horns With Daniel Radcliffe

September 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Max Minghella is slowly building a very strong career with the likes of The Social Network and The Ides Of March (let’s ignore the abysmal Darkest Hour), and he’ll be hoping he can build on that with Horns, as he’s now in talks to join the cast.

The film is about Ig Perrish, a role Daniel Radcliffe took in July, who’s a seemingly ordinary man who wakes up one morning and discovers horns are growing out of his head. He comes to learn that these powerful appendages make people confess their sins to him, a tool he decides to use in figuring out the mysterious death of his girlfriend. Max Minghella is in talks to play Lee Tourneau, a district attorney who is hiding a secret past.

Alexandre Aja is directing from a screenplay by Keith Bunin, which he adapted from Joe Hill’s novel (who is, incidentally, Stephen King’s son). Shooting will begin later this autumn. (Source: Variety)

Alexandre Aja Eyes Undying Love Comic Adaptation

March 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Alexandre Aja has a lot of fans in horror circles thanks to Switchblade Romance, The Hills Have Eyes and Piranha. Now he’s heading into the world of comic adaptations as Deadline reports he’s in early negotiations to direct a movie version of Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman’s Undying Love.

The comic follow an ex-soldier who falls for a girl who happens to be a vampire. The only way the two can be together is if the man takes on the vampire who created her, which also means fighting an army of monsters in the Hong Kong underworld. The story mixes traditional vampire lore with Chinese monster myths and the Hong Kong action genre.

It could certainly make an interesting movie, with plenty of Aja’s beloved violence, mixed with full on martial arts action.

Alexandre Aja Planning To Direct Horns

December 9, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Alexandre Aja has carved out a reputation as a resolutely gory director, so it’ll be interesting to see whether he reins in the blood for the latest movie he’s signed up for. THR reports that the Piranha 3D and Hills Have Eyes director will helm Horns for Mandalay Pictures.

News of the project first surfaced back in March when Shia LaBeouf attached himself to star. The film is based on Joe Hill’s (son of Stephen King) novel, about a 26-year-old man who wakes up one morning with an enormous hangover, and discovers horns are growing out of his head. He becomes convinced that the horns have something to do with the unsolved murder of his girlfriend (which would be most people’s first reaction, of course).

Aja will direct from an adapted script by Keith Bunin. There’s certainly plenty of scope for Aja trademark in your face bloodiness, but assuming LaBeouf ends up starring, it’ll be interesting if the star and studio make his tone it down.

Elijah Wood Is A Maniac

November 7, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

If you’ve ever seen the 1980 horror movie Maniac, it’s unlikely you’d have have been praying for a remake, but apparently someone in the world of film has and they’ve got Elijah Wood to agree to start in it. Nora Arnezeder (Safe House) has also joined the cast, according to Deadline.

The original centered on a serial killer in New York City who murders young women, which he sees as revenge for being abused by his mother as a child. Elijah Wood will play the serial killer (which is kind of interesting casting), but it isn’t known who Nora Arnezeder will be, although she will likely play one of the victims.

Franck Khalfoun (P2) will direct from a screenplay by Alexandre Aja and Grégory Levasseur, who are also producing. That’s a pretty potent trio of talent, so you’ve got to hope they’re onto something with this do-over.
