Horns (DVD Review)

March 18, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Juno Temple, Max Minghella, Joe Anderson
Director: Alexandre Aja
Running Time: 115 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: March 16th 2015 (UK)

Horns is a certainly a bit of an odd film, not least because it can’t quite decide what it is – comedy, horror, fable, fantasy, thriller, murder mystery, drama – flitting between them all with little sense of consistency. It’s probably this difficulty in pigeonholing the movie that has limited its audience so far, but in many ways that’s a shame, as while very uneven it is oddly entertaining and just a little beguiling.

Daniel Radcliffe is Ig Perrish, whose girlfriend (Juno Temple) has been murdered and everyone in his small town has decided he’s the killer, despite there not being enough evidence to charge him with anything. Things get a little bizarre when he wakes up one morning to discover he’s grown horns out of his forehead, and that he now has the power to get people to admit to all the things they’d normally keep hidden away (he discovers a lot of these things involve what they’d really like to do to him, as they believe he’s gotten away with murder). Full Horns Trailer – There’s something different about Daniel Radcliffe

August 29, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Horns-quad-PosterThere are quite a few people out there who’d like to see Daniel Radcliffe with a horn. Well now’s your chance!

The full UK trailer for Horns has now arrived (as well as the rather cool quad poster above), which focuses on the early parts of the movie, before Radcliffe wakes up on morning to literally find he has horns growing out of his forehead.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From master-of-horror Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D) comes this supernatural, offbeat thriller starring beloved British actor Danielle Radcliffe (Harry Potter, Kill Your Darlings) and the talented Juno Temple (Magic Magic, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For).

‘Ig Perrish (Daniel Radcliffe) is accused for the violent rape and killing of his girlfriend, Merrin Williams (Juno Temple). After a hard night of drinking, Ig awakens, hungover, to find horns growing out of his head; they have the ability to drive people to confess sins and give in to selfish impulses. Ig decides to use this effective tool to discover the circumstances of his girlfriend’s death and to seek revenge by finding the true murderer.

‘Daniel and Juno lead an all-star cast with strong support from David Morse (The Green Mile, The Hurt Locker) and Heather Graham (The Hangover I&II, Boogie Nights).

‘HORNS is based on the dark fantasy novel of the same name from New York Times best-selling author Joe Hill (Heart Shaped Box) with a screenplay by Keith Burnin. Alexandre Aja, Riza Aziz, Joey McFarland and Cathy Schulman produce.’

Horns arrives in the UK on Wednesday 29th October 2014. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Horns Trailer – What’s growing out of Daniel Radcliffe’s forehead?

July 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

horns-teaser-trailerHorns certainly shows a different side of Daniel Radcliffe – although you have to wait until the very end to properly see what’s really changed about him for this role, as he literally has horns growing out of his forehead.

In Horns, ‘Ig Perrish (Daniel Radcliffe) is accused of the violent rape and killing of his girlfriend, Merrin Williams (Juno Temple). After a hard night of drinking, Ig awakens, hungover, to find horns growing out of his head; they have the ability to drive people to confess sins and give in to selfish impulses. Ig decides to use this effective tool to discover the circumstances of his girlfriend’s death and to seek revenge by finding the true murderer.’

It certainly look pretty intense and rather unusual. Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) direct.

It’ll be in cinemas later this year. [Read more…]

Max Minghella Gets The Horns With Daniel Radcliffe

September 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Max Minghella is slowly building a very strong career with the likes of The Social Network and The Ides Of March (let’s ignore the abysmal Darkest Hour), and he’ll be hoping he can build on that with Horns, as he’s now in talks to join the cast.

The film is about Ig Perrish, a role Daniel Radcliffe took in July, who’s a seemingly ordinary man who wakes up one morning and discovers horns are growing out of his head. He comes to learn that these powerful appendages make people confess their sins to him, a tool he decides to use in figuring out the mysterious death of his girlfriend. Max Minghella is in talks to play Lee Tourneau, a district attorney who is hiding a secret past.

Alexandre Aja is directing from a screenplay by Keith Bunin, which he adapted from Joe Hill’s novel (who is, incidentally, Stephen King’s son). Shooting will begin later this autumn. (Source: Variety)

Max Minghella Heads For The Internship

June 22, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Internship will start shooting next month, and so director Shawn Levy is busy putting together the supporting cast, with Variety reporting that Max Minghella, Josh Brener, Tiya Sircar and Torbit Raphael are all in various stages of talks for roles in the movie.

Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are set to star as two old-school salesmen who, finding themselves suddenly unemployed and passed-by in the digital world, try to reinvent themselves by becoming interns at a major tech company.

Social Network and Darkest Hour star Minghella will play a ruthlessly competitive fellow intern who wants to sabotage who he sees as older intruders. Josh Brenner meanwhile will be one of the other newcomers, who helps our heroes out. It’s now known who Sircar or Raphael will play.
