September 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

vince-vaughn-slideMichael Dowse’s What If may not have become a massive hit on its US release, but it nevertheless impressed many in Hollywood. It’s helped him snag a new gig, with the helming signing up to direct The Politician, which THR says Vince Vaughn attached to star.

The film is about ‘a politician in Washington D.C. who is caught in a scandal with some hookers. The man and his underachieving accomplice go on the run from the FBI, U.S. Marshals and a gang of drug dealers.’

Matthew Bass and Theodore Bressman wrote the script, which landed on last year’s Black List of the best unproduced screenplays. There’s no news at the moment on when the film will head into production.

Delivery Man Trailer – Vince Vaughn has 533 kids!

July 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

If you donate sperm, who knows how many kids you might have running around! For Vince Vaughn it’s 533 whippersnappers he fathered via a fertility clinic (or at least his character in Delivery Man did, I’m sure he doesn’t have that many in real life). Now the first proper trailer for the comedy has arrived.

The movie is Ken Scott’s English-language remake of his own 2011 Canadian comedy Starbuck. Vaughn is David Wozniak, who fathered 533 kids a couple of decades ago, and now 142 of those kids are suing to learn his identity.

Chris Pratt and Cobie Smulders also star. The film is due in cinemas this autumn.

Vince Vaughn Gets Term Life With Director Peter Billingsley

June 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Vince-VaughnVince Vaughn’s passion project The Internship may have disappointed on its US opening, but the actor is pushing ahead, signing up to star in Life Term, based on A.J. Lieberman’s graphic novel, according to The Wrap.

It will follow ‘Nick Barrow, who specializes in planning heists and tricks before selling them off to the highest bidder. When one of his heists goes bad, everyone involved wants him dead, from mob bosses to contract killers and corrupt cops’.

What The Wrap doesn’t mention is that the hook in the graphic novel is that Barrow takes out a life insurance policy, so he can leave money for his daughter if he does die, but it won’t pay out for 21 days, meaning he has to stay alive at least that long.

The movie will reteam Vaughn with Couples Retreat director Peter Billingsley. An early 2014 shoot is tentatively planned.

Vince Vaughn Joins Will Ferrell In Daddy’s Home

May 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Vince-VaughnVince Vaughn seems to be enjoying collaborating with old friend at the moment, as he’s got The Internship with Owen Wilson in cinemas this summer, and now THR reveals he’s teaming up with Will Ferrell for Daddy’s Home.

They’ve previously appeared together in Old School, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Wedding Crashers and Starsky & Hutch.

The film is about a mild-mannered radio executive played by Ferrell, who wants to be the best stepfather he can be to his wife’s children. However, this gets complicated when their deadbeat biological father (Vaughn) returns and forces Ferrell to fight for the kids’ affection.

Etan Cohen will make his directorial debut with the movie. He’s a screenwriter by trade, having worked on the likes of Idiocracy, Tropic Thunder, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, and Men in Black 3.

Dodgeball Sequel Gets A Writer, With Ben Stiller & Vince Vaughn Expected To Return

April 23, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

dodgeball-posterIt’s nine years since Dodgeball hit cinemas, and ever since then there have been rumours of a sequel, which most fans thought were getting dimmer as the years passed. However, now the long gestating Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story follow-up is finally moving forward, with 20th Century Fox hiring Clay Tarver to write the screenplay.

THR reports that Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn are expected to return, with Stiller’s Red Hour banner producing alongside Fox. The 2004 original followed a gym owner who rounds up a group of misfits for a Dodgeball tournament in order to save his property from a corporate gym take over. Stiller and Vaughn played enemies in the first film, but it’s said that the sequel will see them reluctantly team up to take on an even bigger threat.

It’s not definite that Dodgeball 2 will happen, as Jeff Sneider cautions that just because someone’s been hired to write a screenplay doesn’t mean all the elements will come together to get it made.
