Vince Vaughn May Star In Tony Scott’s Lucky Strike

February 16, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Vince Vaughn isn’t the first name that springs to mind for an action movie. If he was ever going to be in a Tony Scott film, you’d expect it to be as the comedy relief who helps the hero save the world, but doesn’t get into too much trouble himself.

However Scott himself obviously things differently, as Deadline reports the director is hoping to make Lucky Strike his next movie and wants Vaughn to star. The script, by Henry Bean, is ‘an action film in which a DEA agent teams with a drug runner to take down a drug cartel.’ Unfortunately there are no more details than that and it isn’t clear exactly who Vaughn would play, but knowing Scott, Vince will have to get frenetic.

The movie is eyeing a late summer/early autumn shoot on an $80 million budget. It would appear therefore we’ll have to wait for some of the other projects Scott has in the works, including a remake of The Warrior and Hell’s Angels.

Vince Vaughn & Owen Wilson Reuniting For Interns

February 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Vince Vaughn & Owen Wilson had a big hit with Wedding Crashers and now it appears they want to team up again for Interns, which Vulture reports they’re working on together, with Real Steel and Night At The Museum director Shawn Levy set to helm.

Vaughn also wrote the script, which is about ‘Vaughn and Wilson will play forty-ish company guys who both get laid off in a downsizing. Convinced they’ve gone about managing their careers entirely wrong, they resolve to become interns at a Google-like dotcom and start anew. Suddenly, the two old chums are competing against wily, fresh-faced 22 year olds for advancement.’ With the comedy duo’s chemistry, it could work exceptionally well.

It appears the movie may go ahead fairly soon, as while Levy was due to direct a new take on Frankenstein next and Vaughn was preparing for a film called Insane Laws, both of those movies fell apart due to budget issues. At the same time, while Universal owned the rights to Interns, they recently cut it loose, with 20th Century Fox snapping it up and using the fact Vaughn, Wilson and Levy are all suddenly free to swoop in and get the film made as soon as possible. So expect to hear more casting news soon.

First Images From Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters & More

December 3, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

US magazine Entertainment Weekly is in the fortunate position to be big enough that it very often gets the very first images from movies to show off. Its latest issue has a trio of exclusive first looks – Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Wrath Of The Titans and Neighborhood Watch.

The pic above, via EW, is from Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, which stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as grown up versions of the fairy tale characters, who are now in the business of hunting witches. Arterton commented, “You see a series of flashbacks with their experience of killing that first witch, which is brilliant. I remember being on set for the final few days of that. The candy house, and the witches are really repulsive and quite frightening. The make-up is out of this world. It’s this bone-chilling scene. Very dark. The girl who plays my character is brilliant, with the horrified expression she has. This (movie) is about abandonment and being lost and parents leaving you. The heart of it is that these kids grow up to be bloodthirsty witch hunters. It’s a bit tongue in cheek, really. What would Hansel and Gretel be in 15 years time?”

Take a look below for the Neighborhood Watch and Wrath Of The Titans pics, which were scanned from Entertainment Weekly by The Playlist.

Neighborhood Watch stars Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Richard Ayoade and Jonah Hill as guys who put together a home security group as an excuse to hang out and get away from their families. However they discover a nefarious plot to take over the world! The film’s due out August 22nd, 2012.

Sam Worthington is rocking a lovely bouffant look in the followup to Clash of The Titans. The Jonathan Liebesman directed movie is out March 20th, and sees Perseus heading into the underworld after Zeus is kidnapped.
