February 13, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

criminal-kevin-costnerIf you had to choose, would you prefer your brain to be put in Ryan Reynolds’ body or Kevin Costner’? Well the situation Ryan has to face in Criminal is suddenly becoming Kevin, which would be confusing enough for anybody.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, The Proposal) and Oscar-winner Kevin Costner (DraftDay, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit), CRIMINAL follows a CIA operative (Reynolds), whose memories and skills are implanted into an unpredictable and dangerous death-row inmate (Costner) in a last-ditch effort to stop an international terrorist plot.’

With Deadpool currently ripping up the box office, it’s certainly a good time to drop the trailer, so take a look at it below. It’ll be in cinemas on April 15th.

August 13, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

gal-gadotAt the moment there are a lot of people who have no idea what a Gal Gadot is. However in the next couple of years the Fast & Furious actress has a great shot of becoming a household name. She’s currently filming the role of Wonder Woman in Superman Vs Batman: Dawn Of Justice, and now she’s booked another film, Criminal, according to THR.

Last weekend Ryan Reynolds also signed up to star alongside Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman and Tommy Lee Jones, which is about a ruthless killer (Costner) who chooses to take part in a scientific experiment instead of spending the rest of his life in jail. He gets implanted with the brain of a recently-murdered CIA field operative (Reynolds) in the hope that he will stop a diabolical plot.

Gadot is set to play Reynold’s wife.

Ariel Vromen (The Iceman) is set directing from a screenplay by David Weisberg and Douglas Cook.

Ryan Reynolds Will Be A Criminal Alongside Kevin Costner & Gary Oldman

August 4, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ryan-reynolds-slideRecently Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Oldman signed up to star in the thriller Criminal, and now another big name has joined the cast, as Ryan Reynolds has signed up for the movie, according to Variety.

The movie is about a ruthless killer who chooses to take part in a scientific experiment instead of spending the rest of his life in jail. He gets implanted with the brain of a recently-murdered CIA field operative in the hope that he will stop a diabolical plot.

It’s not currently 100% clear which actor will play which role, except that Oldman will be the head of the CIA. Presumably Reynolds and Costner will be the killer and the dead CIA agent, but it’s unclear which way round it will be.

Ariel Vromen is set to direct from a script by Douglas Cook and David Weisberg.

Kevin Costner Will Be A Criminal For Director Ariel Vromen

June 19, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kevin-costnerAlthough Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit wasn’t a big success, it has reminded the movie world that Kevin Costner exists, so after hardly making any films for several years, he’s back in demand. Now Variety reports that he’s in talk to star in Criminal, with Ariel Vromen (The Iceman) attached to direct.

The movie is about a ruthless killer who chooses to take part in a scientific experiment instead of spending the rest of his life in jail. He then gets implanted with the brain of a recently-murdered field operative.

Douglas Cook and David Weisberg (The Rock, Double Jeopardy) wrote the script. It’s not clear when the movie might shoot.

The Iceman (DVD)

October 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Michael Shannon, Chris Evans, Ray Liotta, Winona Ryder, David Schwimmer
Director: Ariel Vromen
Running Time: 105 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: September 30th 2013

The Iceman is a textbook case of how to take a fascinating true story and make it far duller than it actually ought to be. It can’t quite decide whether it wants to ditch the facts and just be a rollicking story or stick close to the truth in order go deep into reality – and its indecision results in a film that doesn’t seem to know quite what it’s for, other than killing a lot of people. The Iceman Trailer – Michael Shannon just can’t stop killing

August 31, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Iceman is based on the true story of notorious contract killer Richard Kuklinski, nicknamed ‘The Iceman’. Michael Shannon stars as the real-life hitman who in 1986 was convicted of murdering 100 men for various crime organizations around the New York area. The twist to Kuklinski’s story was that he was also a devoted husband and father whose family was unaware of his real profession until his arrest, he was also a bona fide serial killer, having started killing people long before he took it up as a profession.

Winona Ryder Boards The Iceman

December 13, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

After more than a year of trying to pull things together, The Iceman is finally getting ready to shoot, although there’s had to be a bit of a cast shuffle, with Deadline reporting that Winona Ryder will step in for Maggie Gyllenhaal in the movie.

The project is a fact-based film about Richard Kuklinski (Michael Shannon), a serial killer whose homicidal urgings found the perfect outlet when the mob called upong him to become a Mafia hitman. He earned his nickname by freezing the bodies of his victims, disguising the time of death, and throwing police off-track.

Ryder will play Kuklinski’s wife, Deborah, who was unaware that he was a contract killer and thought her hubby was a businessman. Maggie Gyllenhaal was originally down for the role, and it’s not clear why she’s left. Chris Evans will also star, playing Kulinski’s protege, Robert Pronge. Ariel Vromen will be directing from a screenplay co-written with Morgan Land, based a Anthony Bruno book “The Iceman: The True Story of a Cold-Blooded Killer”.
