The Iceman (DVD)

October 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Michael Shannon, Chris Evans, Ray Liotta, Winona Ryder, David Schwimmer
Director: Ariel Vromen
Running Time: 105 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: September 30th 2013

The Iceman is a textbook case of how to take a fascinating true story and make it far duller than it actually ought to be. It can’t quite decide whether it wants to ditch the facts and just be a rollicking story or stick close to the truth in order go deep into reality – and its indecision results in a film that doesn’t seem to know quite what it’s for, other than killing a lot of people. David Hasselhoff & Ray Liotta To Play Themselves In Stretch

June 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

david-hasselhoffJust yesterday we reported that James Badge Dale had joined the likes of Patrick Wilson, Chris Pine, Brooklyn Decker and Ed Helms in Joe Carnahan’s Stretch. Now the cast has expanded some more, with TheWrap reporting that Ray Liotta and David Hasselhoff have signed on to play versions of themselves in the flick, with Shane Toub also set to appear.

The film is about a downtrodden man (Patrick Wilson) who becomes the limo driver for an eccentric billionaire (Chris Pine). What he doesn’t know is that his boss is about to make his life a living hell. As the limo drives around, what the driver doesn’t know is that the billionaire is trying to sell a list of his criminal associates to the highest bidder, which means there are some very dangerous people looking for the car. Ed Helms will be the man’s limo driver colleague.

There’s no info on exactly how Liotta and Hasselhoff will fit into the film. It’s due to start shooting at the end of the month.

Killing Them Softly (Blu-ray)

February 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta, Brad Pitt
Director: Andrew Dominik
Running Time: 97 mins
Certificate: 18
Release Date: February 25th 2013

When you start watching Killing Them Softly, you might be confused about why this Brad Pitt film seems to have a distinct lack of Brad Pitt. He doesn’t turn up until nearly 30 minutes in, but certainly makes his presence felt when he does arrive.

Before he comes on-screen we follow Frankie (Scoot McNairy) and Russell (Ben Mendelsohn), two small-time hoods who are talked into ripping off a mob-controlled card game. As you’d expect the local criminal fraternity isn’t top impressed by this, and so hire Jackie (Pitt) to find out who’s responsible and hunt them down. [Read more…]

Ray Liotta Joins The Muppets 2

January 23, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ray-liottaRay Liotta has joined the cast of The Muppets 2 for director James Bobin and Walt Disney Pictures, according to Variety. The actor’s role was not revealed, although this project marks a bit of a reunion, as Liotta played a gate guard in 1999’s Muppets from Space.

The Muppets 2 follows the felt-covered ones all across Europe on a new caper adventure. Ty Burrell stars as an Interpol inspector, with Tina Fey portraying the female lead, a guard at a Russian gulag prison. Ricky Gervais also stars, although his role has not yet been identified. The Muppets star Jason Segel is not returning, although the entire Muppet clan including Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy will be back.

James Bobin is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Nick Stoller.. Production is scheduled to begin in London this month, with a March 21st, 2014 release date already set.

Ray Liotta, Juno Temple & Jeremy Piven Join Sin City: A Dame to Kill

January 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ray-liottaMost films finalise their cast before they shoot, but due to the green screen nature of the Sin City films – where actors don’t even need to be in the same room at the same time to shoot a scene together – Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller seem to be going for an approach which is to see who’s free and then add cast members when they’re needed.

So despite it having already been shooting for quite a while, The Playlist has revealed Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, and Jeremy Piven have joined the ever-growing cast of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. However, no details have been released regarding their characters.

This follow-up to Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City features returning cast members as well as a number of new actors, some taking on previously established roles. Mickey Rourke (Marv), Jessica Alba (Nancy), Rosario Dawson (Gail), and Jaime King (Wendy) are reprising their original roles. Jamie Chung is replacing Devon Aoki as Miho, Dennis Haysbert takes over for the deceased Michael Clarke Duncan as Manute, and Josh Brolin steps in for Clive Owen as Dwight.

The film will hit cinemas this autumn.

The Place Beyond The Pines Trailer – Ryan Gosling turns to crime to raise his kid

Now the trailer for the movie has arrived, which to be honest make the film look more like Drive than Blue Valentine, taking a genre pic in an unusual direction. The movie premiered recently at the Toronto International Film Festival to good although not rapturous reviews.

It arrives in the UK on April 12th. Take a look at the trailer below [Read more…]
