Eva Longoria & Other Celebs Pose As Gay Imaginary Couples To Show Universal Love

January 25, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

imaginary-couples-longoria2French artist and photographer Olivier Ciappa’s photographic series, Imaginary Couples, is, as the title suggests, about couple that don’t exist in real life but were brought together for the images, alongside pictures of real couples. The idea is to help combat the homophobia the photographer saw across the world, hoping that by highlighting all types of relationships, he could display the universality of love.

His project included enlisting some heterosexual celebs to pose as gay couples for the images, including Eva Longoria and singer Lara Fabian, as well as Sicario director Dennis Villenueve and Dallas Buyers Club’s Jean-Marc Vallee getting cosy in the shower.

Ciappa told Huffpo, “The celebrities that I shot are heterosexual, but it was essential to me that you would believe these imaginary couples and families they portray were real. If you couldn’t identify with their love and feel it was real, then I would have failed. If you couldn’t identify with their love and feel it was real, then I would have failed. And to show that love is love, no matter who [is involved], the exhibition also features real gay families, straight ones, single parents, disabled, people of different skin colors and origins, different religion, young couples, old ones… All of these pictures, imaginary or real, have the same glamorous and warm monochrome style that makes them look not only appealing but timeless.”

Take a look at the pics above and below. You can see some more of the images here.

Sicario Trailer – Emily Blunt leads Denis Villeneuve’s new crime thriller

June 18, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sicario-slideWith Incendies, Prisoners and, to a lesser extent, Enemies, Denis Villenueve has shown he’s one of the most interesting directors around, and you’ve got to think teaming up with Emily Blunt and Benicio Del Toro for Sicario has to be a good idea.

Here’s the film’s synopsis: ‘In Mexico, SICARIO means hitman. In the lawless border area stretching between the U.S. and Mexico, an idealistic FBI agent [Emily Blunt] is enlisted by an elite government task force official [Josh Brolin] to aid in the escalating war against drugs. Led by an enigmatic consultant with a questionable past [Benicio Del Toro], the team sets out on a clandestine journey forcing Kate to question everything that she believes in order to survive. A Lionsgate presentation, a Black Label Media presentation, a Thunder Road production, a Denis Villeneuve film.’

Following it’s Cannes premiere it’s been getting some good reviews. You can take a look at the trailer below, with the film itself due in cinemas later this year. [Read more…]

Denis Villeneuve To Direct Blade Runner Sequel, With Harrison Ford Confirmed To Star

February 27, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

blade-runnerFor quite a while now Ridley Scott has been developing a sequel to Blade Runner and Harrison Ford has indicated he’s potentially be interested in starring – if the script was good enough. It seems it must be, as Deadline reports that he’s now officially set to star.

While initially Ridley was thinking about directing himself, he’s since stepped aside and it looks like they’ve found his replacement. Denis Villeneuve, the man behind Prisoners and Incendies, is in talks to help the movie.

Andrew A. Kosove and Broderick Johnson from Alcon Entertainment, which owns the rights to Blade Runner, comment, “We are honored that Harrison is joining us on this journey with Denis Villeneuve, who is a singular talent, as we experienced personally on Prisoners. Hampton and Michael, with Ridley Scott, have crafted a uniquely potent and faithful sequel to one of the most universally celebrated films of all time, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with this amazing, creative team.”

Little is known about the plot, although it is known that it will feature Rick Deckard decades after the events of the first movie.

Emily Blunt In Talks For Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario

April 3, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

emily-bluntDenis Villeneuve has been chatting up some beautiful women in the last few days – and by chatting up of course we mean casting them in his upcoming movie. As we’ve just reported, Amy Adams is in talks for his sci-fi movie Story Of Your Life, and now Variety says Emily Blunt is close to signing on for his movie, Sicario.

The movie is about ‘an officer from Tucson, Arizona who travels across the border to Mexico with a pair of mercenaries to track down a drug lord.’

Taylor Sheridan wrote the script for the Prisoners helmer to direct.

So will he be working with Blunt of Adams first? Well, Sicario should shoot later this summer, with Story Of Your Life set to lens sometime in 2015.

Amy Adams May Tell The Story of Your Life For An Alien Thriller

April 3, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

amy-adamsPerhaps Man Of Steel gave Amy Adams  a taste for thing verging on sci-fi, as the American Hustle actress is in talks to star in Denis Villeneuve’s thriller Story of Your Life, according to Deadline.

The movie is based on Ted Chiang’s short story about a linguist (Adams) who is recruited by the government after alien spacecraft start to appear all over the world. She must try to determine whether these extraterrestrials come in peace, or whether they have more evil intentions.

However, as she begins to communicate with them, the linguist experiences flashbacks that help unlock the mystery of why they are really here. (It’s a plot that will sound oddly familiar to anyone who’s seen the film, The Arrival Of Wang).

Eric Heisserer (The Thing, Final Destination 5) wrote the script. It’s not clear when it will shoot.

Enemy Trailer – Jake Gyllenhaal gets into doppelganger thriller mode

February 1, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jake Gyllenhaal had a decent success with Denis Villeneuve when they made Prisoners together, and they’ve now reteamed for Enemy, which certainly looks like it’s going to be moody and rather intense.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘ENEMY tells the story of a university lecturer named Adam (Gyllenhaal) who is nearing the end of a relationship with his girlfriend Mary (Melanie Laurent). One night, while watching a film, Adam spots a minor actor who looks just like him. Consumed by the desire to meet his double, Adam tracks down Anthony, an actor living with his pregnant wife Helen (Sarah Gadon) and engages him in a complex and dangerous struggle. The film is a haunting and provocative psychosexual thriller about duality and identity, where in the end only one man will survive.’

In the US the film will have a DirecTV premiere on February 6th, before hitting cinemas on March 14th. It’s not clear yet when it will arrive in the US. [Read more…]

Prisoners Director Denis Villeneuve Going Sci-fi With The Story Of Your Life

January 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

denis-villeneuveDenis Villeneuve had a decent success recently with Prisoners and now it appears the director has decided on his next project, as THR reports he’s signed up to helm The Story Of Your Life, based on a 1998 novella by Ted Chiang. As with Prisoners, it comes with a Black List script, this time by Eric Heisserer, director of the Paul Walker movie, Hours.

The film ‘is set in motion when alien crafts land around the world and an expert linguist is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat. As she learns to communicate with the aliens, she begins experiencing vivid flashbacks that become the key to unlocking the greater mystery about the true purpose of their visit.’

Chiang’s story won the Nebula for best novella, so it’s got good form. The hope is to shoot later this year.

New Prisoners Trailer – Hugh Jackman plays a really anguished father

June 28, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I think it’s safe to say that things aren’t going well for Hugh Jackman’s character in Prisoners, as the film looks like it’s going to be pretty intense.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Keller Dover (Jackman) is facing every parent’s worst nightmare. His 6-year-old daughter and her young friend are missing, and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had been parked on their street. Heading the investigation, Detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) arrests its driver, but a lack of evidence forces the only suspect’s release. Knowing his child’s life is at stake, the frantic Dover decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. The desperate father will do whatever it takes to find the girls, but in doing so, may lose himself, begging the question: When do you cross the line between seeking justice and becoming a vigilante?’

Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, Viola Davis, Melissa Leo and Paul Dano also star. The film is out this autumn.

Prisoners Trailer – Hugh Jackman loses his daughter, but can Jake Gyllenhaal help?

May 31, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

You could be forgiven for thinking the only Hugh Jackman movie out this year is The Wolverine, but he’s also getting far more serious with Prisoners, and he’s got a great cast surrounding him to do it, including Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, Viola Davis, Melissa Leo, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Paul Dano. Now we’ve got out first trailer, which makes the film look like it could be pretty intense.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Keller Dover (Jackman) is facing every parent’s worst nightmare. His 6-year-old daughter and her young friend are missing, and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in.
