New The Girl In The Spider’s Web Trailer – Claire Foy becomes Lisbeth Salander

September 24, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ever since David Fincher’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Sony has said they were going to produce a sequel, but they took a long time to decide exactly what they were going to do. Now it’s on its way, with Rooney Mara gone and The Crown actress Claire Foy taking over as Lisbeth Salander in a role that’s very different from her Netflix series persona.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Lisbeth Salander, the cult figure and title character of the acclaimed Millennium book series created by Stieg Larsson, will return to the screen in The Girl in the Spider’s Web, a first-time adaptation of the recent global bestseller. Golden Globe winner Claire Foy, the star of “The Crown,” will play the outcast vigilante defender under the direction of Fede Alvarez, the director of 2016’s breakout thriller Don’t Breathe; the screenplay adaptation is by Steven Knight and Fede Alvarez & Jay Basu.’

The movie is due out Novermber 9th. Take a look at the trailer and first poster below. [Read more…]

Evil Dead’s Fede Alvarez To Direct Dante’s Inferno

September 18, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

fede-alvarezFede Alvarez made a successful jump to feature-length movies this summer with Evil Dead, and while he’s already got a sequel to that film in the works, he’s now adding another film, as Deadline reports that he is in talks to direct Dante’s Inferno, an adaptation of the Electronic Arts video game.

The project has been in development for a long time, as Universal secured the rights to the game in 2008, two years before its release. It is unsurprisingly based on the Dante Aligheri’s famous literary work, following Dante, who in the game is a knight, who teams up with the poet Virgil to rescue Dante’s lover Beatrice from the nine rings of hell. He eventually becomes a pawn in a war between heaven and hell.

Jay Basu (The Dinosaur Project) wrote the most current draft of the screenplay, with Bruce C. McKenna writing an earlier draft. There’s no news on when it might shoot.

New Evil Dead Remake Trailer – Things are getting very gory

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When it was announced several years ago that they were planning on remaking The Evil Dead, the presumption was that it would be a toned down, PG-13 rated cash-in. However everything we’ve seen of the movie so far has been keen to suggest that blood, guts and gore are very much part of the film. Indeed this latest trailer is impressively grisly!

In the movie five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

The movie hits UK cinemas April 13th, 2013.

Evil Dead Remake Poster – Making claims it can’t live up to?

November 21, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Perhaps we’ll all get to phone Claims Direct next April and say we want compensation because despite the promise of this poster, the remake of The Evil Dead isn’t ‘The most terrifying film you will ever experience’. But hey, perhaps it will be, and instead we’ll have the check into the hospital to deal with out shattered nerves.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.’ That’s exactly the same as the original, but this do-over doe s change a few things, such as the Bruce Campbell character in the original now becoming a woman.

If you want to see more, take a look at the red band teaser. The film is due to hit cinemas April 12th 2013.

First Evil Dead Remake Photo Arrives

October 15, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

After several years in development, a remake of The Evil Dead finally went into production a few months ago with Fede Alvarez directing and Sam Raimi producing. Now the first image from the movie has arrived via EW, who’s taken over the role originated by Bruce Campbell. She’s certainly not looking very healthy in this shot though.

Those worried this will be toned down Evil Dead apparently don’t need to worry, as it’s expected the first cut submitted to the MPAA will get the NC-17 rating only really extremely violent movies get (although it will get cuts to take it back to the edge of the more commercially friendly R-rating). It’ll be in cinemas next spring.

Lily Collins In Talks For Evil Dead Remake

January 5, 2012 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

She may be the spawn of Phil Collins, but Lily Collins isn’t going to let that stand in her way, as she turning into quite the starlet, thanks to landing the lead in the upcoming Snow White tale, Mirror Mirror. Now she’s looking ahead to the future, which could include a bit of The Evil Dead.

Bloody Disgusting reports (since confirmed by THR) reports that she’s currently in talks to star in the long-gestating remake of Sam Raimi’s cult horror classic. She would be Mia, who’s trying to kick drugs, and so goes with a handful of friends to a remote cabin where, as in Raimi’s original film, evil forces are released and cause them everybody more than a spot of bother.

The film has been coming together for some time, with Fede Alvarez, director of the short Panic Attack, set to helm from a script he co-wrote with Rodo Sayagues (there’s since been a Diablo Cody rewrite). The Evil Dead,. which has Raimi as a producer, will his cinemas next year.
