Final Spider-man: Homecoming Trailer – The web-slinger is back, with a little help from Iron Man

May 24, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Synopsis: ‘A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.’

There’s a lot of excitement about the film, with many expecting it to cement Tom Holland’s reputation as a real star of the future. It’s also looking pretty cool from the new trailer and poster, which you can take a look at below.

The movie will be in cinemas on July 25th. [Read more…]

New Spider-man: Homecoming Trailer – Peter Parker has learned some lessons from Iron Man

March 28, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The whole idea of Spider-man joining Marvel’s superhero universe has certainly been intriguing. It was a success with Captain America: Civil War, but now Sony is returning with its own Spidey movie starring Tom Holland, Homecoming. However, they deal between Disney and Marvel means they’re still bridging studios with the film, as it will feature Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. The movie will be in cinemas this July. Enjoy the new trailer below. [Read more…]

It’s here – the first trailer for Spider-man: Homecoming. It has to be said it’s pretty cool, with some great action, a menacing Michael Keaton as the Vulture, and Robert Downey Jr. showing up as Tony Stark to give the young Peter Parker a bit of advice.

Spider-man: Homecoming Trailer Tease – Plus a pic of Tom Holland in his Spidey suit

December 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While many were dubious about yet another reboot of Spider-man, Tom Holland certainly made in impression in Captain America: Civil War, which ensures that there’s plenty of anticipation for Spider-man: Homecoming. We should be getting the first full trailer shortly, but as a warm-up, a brief teaser and a new pic from the movie has arrived.

Not a vast amount of plot details have been released, but Tom Holland tells USA Today that the movie is “more a character piece about this kid who’s struggling to talk to girls and also struggling to save the city.” He also adds that while it’s not yet another Spidey origin story,  “This is really a movie where Spider-Man’s not the finished article. He really does learn and he makes massive mistakes. It’s nice to see a kid do that and then try to rectify those mistakes.”

Take a look at the teaser below. [Read more…]

The cast for Spider-Man: Homecoming is coming together quickly now, with Tom Holland being joined by the likes of Michael Keaton, Donald Glover, Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Kenneth Choi, Michael Barbieri, Tony Revolori, and Laura Harrier over the last few months. Robert Downey Jr. is also set to reprise his Iron Man role. Now a couple more have joined the throng, with Martin Starr & Logan Marshall-Green signing up.

It’s not known exactly who they will play, but THR suggests Prometheus’ Marshall Green will be a villain, alongside Keaton’s main bad guy. Starr’s role is a complete mystery.

Indeed, Sony has been keeping most details about the plot close to it’s chest, as we don’t even know who the main villain will be, although it’s rumoured Keaton will be Vulture. Jon Watts is directing the movie, which starts shooting soon for released July 2017.

Robert Downey Jr. To Appear In Spider-man: Homecoming

April 21, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

iron-man-3-downey-jrA couple of weeks ago Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige suggested that the deal between Marvel and Sony didn’t just mean Spidey would appear in Captain America: Civil War, but that some of the Marvel characters could make a trip to a standalone Spider-man movie. Now we know at least one person who’ll do that – Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark.

It’s a far cry from when Downey Jr. suggested he might hang up his Iron Man suit after the second Avengers movie, only to sign on for two more Avengers flicks and then Civil War. Now he’s extending things even further with an appearance in Spider-man: Homecoming, according to Variety.

What’s not known though is how big a role it will be. However with reports saying Downey Jr. has great chemistry with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in Civil War it certainly makes sense to bring them back together.

Jon Watts is due to direct Spider-man: Homecoming, which is due out July 2017.

Michael Keaton May Be The Villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming

April 14, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

michael-keatonIt looks like Michael Keaton may be going from Superhero to Supervillain, as the former Batman is in talks to play the main bad guy in Sony’s planned standalone Spider-man movie, which has just been announced as being called Spider-man: Homecoming.

Variety first reported on Keaton’s possible involvement. However, there’s no word on who he will be playing, saying that information is being kept secret.

Tom Holland is set to play Peter Parker/Spider-man, with his take on the character being introduced in the imminent Captain America: Civil War. Marisa Tomei is also onboard as Aunt May, with Zendaya signed up for a mystery role. Jon Watts is directing the film from a script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein.

It’ll be in cinemas July 2017.

Marisa Tomei In Talks To Play Aunt May In New Spider-man Movie

July 8, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Marisa-TomeiPeter Parker/Spider-man is getting younger as he morphs from Andrew Garfield into the form of 18-year-old Tom Holland, and it appears his Aunt May may be getting a few years knocked off her too. While the character has traditionally looked like someone who could have been Peter grandmother, this time around she may be played by 50-year-old Marisa Tomei.

Variety reports the actress is in talks for the role, although as yet the studio behind the movie, Sony, has made no comment. It’s not clear how close she is to signing, but it appears an offer was made to her last week.

Jon Watts (Cop Car) was recently announced to direct the film and Sony is currently looking for a writer to help shape the stand-alone Spidey flick alongside him. The film is due for release July 28th, 2017.

That won’t be our first look at Holland as Spider-man, as he’s due to appear in Captain America: Civil War, although it’s believed this will be little more than a cameo. However Marvel will be fully involved in this do-over of the Spider-man universe, which leaves the door open for more cross-overs in the future.

Tom Holland Is The New Spider-man, With Jon Watts Directing Standalone Film

June 23, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tom-hollandA few months ago came the major announcement that Spider-man would be joining the Marvel Universe with an appearance in Captain America: Civil War. However despite the fact that movie has been shooting for a while now, no new Spidey was announced to replace the sadly departing Andrew Garfield.

That’s changed now though, as the young man who’s seemed like the frontrunner for several weeks, Tom Holland, has landed the role. Yep, it’s another Brit.

The accompanying press release says that the ‘studios and producers were impressed by Holland’s performances in The Impossible, Wolf Hall, and the upcoming In the Heart of the Sea, and by a series of complex screen tests.’ And unlike either Garfield or Tobey Maguire, he is actually still a teenager.

He will first been seen in the role in Civil War, which opens May 2016, before getting his own standalone movie on July 28th, 2017. Sony also announced who would direct that movie, going with Jon Watts, director of Cop Car, the upcoming thriller that made its debut earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.

He’s certainly a brave choice but it seems increasingly popular to put superhero movies in the hands of up and comers who have indie cred but little mega-budget Hollywood experience.
