Over the last few months there have been various hashtag campaigns on Twitter to give some prominent movie character same sex partners. That includes Elsa from Frozen and Captain America. The likelihood of Marvel allowing Cap to date a boy is pretty remote, but there was a lot of Twitter support for #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend, especially following the closeness between the character and Bucky/The Winter Soldier in the films.
As Chris Evans is known to be incredibly LGBT friendly (and has a gay brother), it’s difficult to imagine he’d be bothered if Captain America turned out to like boys as well as girls,but what about Bucky Barnes actor Sebastian Stan? Well, he’s not against the idea either and has been pleased to see what’s been happening on Twitter.
He told GQ, “Look, man, I think it’s great. Movies are for people to relate to in whatever way they want. No one here is ever going to point a finger and say what’s right and wrong. For me, it’s like, Awww. It’s cute, it’s great. If someone takes the time to think about that, that’s great. I don’t think of the character that way, though. But there’s no right or wrong answer.”
He might not think of the character that way, but from the amount of fan fiction and erotic imagery on the likes of Tumblr, there are plenty of people out there who’ve spent a lot of time thinking about it. While it’s unlikely the two character will get together on screen, Marvel will hopefully start to open the door to significant LGBT characters in its cinematic universe. Disney (which owns the comic company) was recently given a failing grade by GLAAD for not including and LGBT characters in the films it released in 2015, including its Marvel movies. Some of those behind-the-scenes have suggested they’d been keen to make the films more inclusive, but so far there’s little evidence that’s happening.

It surprised many when it was announced that Marvel and Sony had done a deal that would allows Spider-man to show up in Captain America: Civil War, as well as for Marvel to provide some creative direction for a new stand-alone Spidey movie. What wasn’t clear at the time was whether that would mean any of the Marvel universe character would show up in the Spider-man film.

I’m presuming next year’s crop of tenpole movies will see a lot of superheroes heading off for relationship counselling, as this year they’re all fighting. After Batman v Superman we’ll be getting Captain America: Civil War, which will see the Avengers fighting with one another, with the two sides led by the Cap and Iron Man.
Pretty much everyone from Avengers is showing up in Captain America: Civil War, except for Thor and Hulk (but that’s because they’re teaming up for their own adventure). As a result, Marvel is hoping the film is going to be huge and so it’s no suprise they felt the need for a Super Bowl spot, which you can take a look at below.
Peter Parker/Spider-man is getting younger as he morphs from Andrew Garfield into the form of 18-year-old Tom Holland, and it appears his Aunt May may be getting a few years knocked off her too. While the character has traditionally looked like someone who could have been Peter grandmother, this time around she may be played by 50-year-old Marisa Tomei.
A few months ago came the major announcement that Spider-man would be joining the Marvel Universe with an appearance in Captain America: Civil War. However despite the fact that movie has been shooting for a while now, no new Spidey was announced to replace the sadly departing Andrew Garfield.
Captain America: Civil War is increasingly turning into and Avengers movie in all but name, as while it will lack a few of the throng, such as Thor and Hulk, it’s got Iron Man and Scarlet Widow, and now it’s been confirmed it will also have The Vision (Paul Bettany), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and James ‘War Machine’ Rhodes (Don Cheadle).
