Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis & Director Seth Gordon On For One Night on the Hudson

March 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jason-sudeikisCharlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, and director Seth Gordon must like working together as just last week they all agreed to reunite for Horrible Bosses 2, and now THR reports they’re also planning the new comedy One Night on the Hudson.

The film is about a rookie police officer who catches a criminal, both of whom have to go on the run to escape a unit of corrupt cops. It isn’t immediately clear which roles Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis will play at this time, although presumably one will be the policeman and the other the criminal.

T.J. Fixman wrote the screenplay. He’s a video game writer whose credits include Resistance 2, Overstrike, and the Ratchet and Clank series, although this will be his first feature film.

Jason Bateman, Charlie Day & Jason Sudeikis On For Horrible Bosses 2

March 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

horrible-bosses-movie-posterHorrible Bosses was a pretty decent sized hit, grossing $200 million around the world on a $35 million budget. Ever since it was released, there’s been talk of a sequel, but it’s only now that it’s really coming together, with the news, via THR, that Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis have finalised deals to return for Horrible Bosses 2. Jamie Foxx is also in talks to reprise his role, although he’s yet to sign on the dotted line.

The original movie followed Nick Hendricks (Jason Bateman), Dale Arbus (Charlie Day), and Kurt Buckman (Jason Sudeikis), three friends who are sick and tired of their dreadful bosses. Unable to take anymore, they hatch a plan to get rid of their employers once and for all.

Apparently the sequel will feature a brand new set of bosses, but there is reportedly room for Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Aniston to return (if you’ve seen the first movie, you’ll know Colin Farrell is unlikely to return).

John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein are writing the script, with Seth Gordon returning to direct. The shoot should take place sometime this summer.

New Identity Thief Trailer – Melissa McCarthy steals Jason Bateman’s life

December 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Identity Thief looks like it could be very entertaining, and to try and get us excited for it March 1st release, a new trailer has been released.

Melissa McCarthy plays Diana, who has unlimited funds to live it up on the outskirts of Miami. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using to finance these sprees reads ‘Sandy Bigelow Patterson’ and it belongs to an accounts rep (Jason Bateman) who lives halfway across the US. With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. As he attempts to bribe, coax and wrangle her the 2,000 miles to Denver, one easy target will discover just how tough it is to get your name back.

The trailer suggests the film will allow McCarthy to really go wild, while Bateman can play up his trademark normal guy under extraordinary circumstances.

Jon Favreau To Star In Identity Thief

May 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

In the last few years, Iron Man and its sequel have made Jon Favreau one of the top directors in Hollywood. However he still make occasional trips in front of the camera, such as Couples Retreat and as one of the aliens in John Carter. Now he’s in talks for another acting role, this time in the Universal Pictures comedy Identity Thief.

The movie is about a man (Jason Bateman) whose life is turned upside down when his identity is stolen by a woman (Melissa McCarthy). Variety reports that if the deal goes through, Favreau will play Jason Bateman’s boss. Amanda Peet is also attached to star.

Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) is directing from a screenplay by Steve Conrad (The Weather Man), with Craig Mazin (The Hangover Part II) providing the most recent rewrite. Shooting is schedule to begin in the new few weeks.

Disney & Seth Gordon Take On Ground Control To Major Tom

April 21, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Disney may have lost its studio chief yesterday when Rich Ross resigned, but it’s business as usual as the studio has just acquired the spec screenplay Ground Control to Major Tom by Jason A. Micallef (Butter).

Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) is attached to direct the romantic comedy. No plot details are known, and despite the title being one of the lyrics of David Bowie’s Space Oddity, it isn’t clear how the script relates to the song, if at all. The song is about a fictional astronaut named Major Tom, although it isn’t known if astronauts or outer space figure into the plot of this project, and it hasn’t been suggested the script is a director ‘adaptation’ of the song.

Seth Gordon is directing Identity Thief next, which starts shooting on Monday, so it’ll be a while until he gets round to this one. (Source: Deadline)

Seth Gordon To Be A Has-Been Director

April 10, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon is set to team up with New Line Cinema once again to direct their upcoming comedy, The Has Beens, Variety reports, which comes from a script by Max Werner.

The storyline is being kept slightly secret, so for now, you’ll just have to speculate on the plot based on The Has Beens title. And to give you a clue, Werner most recently wrote Fun Size for director Josh Schwartz, which follows a teenager who loses her brother after being forced to take him out trick-or-treating on Halloween.

It’s not certain when Gordon might get around to The Has Been, as he’s due to shoot, Identity Thief, which stars Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, this summer and has numerous other movies on his development slate.

Amanda Peet Joins Identity Thief

April 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While actress Amanda Peet had success on TV with Jack & Jill and Studio 60, she’s been an irregular presence on movie screens, although she did get decent roles in the likes of The Whole Nine Yards, 2012 and Gulliver’s Travels. Now Variety reports that she has joined the cast of director Seth Gordon’s Identity Thief.

Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy signed on to star in the film last August, which centres on a man (Bateman) whose life is turned upside down when he learns a woman (McCarthy) has stolen his identity. The film was originally written for two male leads, but after McCarthy showed interest it was reworked. It isn’t known what character Amanda Peet will portray.

Shooting is scheduled to begin sometime in April, after Melissa McCarthy wraps Mike & Molly Season 2.

Seth Gordon Committing ID Theft With Melissa McCarthy & Jason Bateman

January 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Director Seth Gordon must have enjoyed working with Jason Bateman on Horrible Bosses, as Deadline reports that he’s just signed on to team up with the actor again for Universal Pictures’ comedy, ID Theft. News on the project first emerged last August, when Bateman and Melissa McCarthy signed on to star.

The film is about an ordinary man who gets his identity stolen by a woman. The identity thief was originally supposed to be a man, but Bateman pushed Universal to cast Melissa McCarthy after her breakthrough performance in Bridesmaids, and so the script has been rewritten for her.

Last August, the plan was to start production in April, after Melissa McCarthy wraps on the latest season of her CBS sitcom Mike & Molly. It isn’t certain is that’s changed or not.
