Michael Bay Casts Newcomer Jack Reynor In Transformers 4

January 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jack-reynorMichael Bay isn’t afraid of casting unknown faces, although he normally does it with female characters, such as Megan Fox in Transformers and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (who may have been known as a model but had no acting experience) in Transformers: Dark Of The Moon. Now he’s done it with one of the young male characters in Transformers 4.

Bay announced on his website, “I just hired a great new actor for Transformers 4 to star against Mark Wahlberg. Jack Reynor, he is an Irish kid that came to America with 30 bucks in his pocket. Pretty ballsy. Seriously who does that? Anyway I spotted him in a great little Irish movie What Richard Did. This kid is the real deal.

Transformers 4, is not a reboot. That word has been floating around on the net. This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy. Michael”

The young actor’s role was not specifically revealed. Last month it was revealed that Nicola Peltz is playing the daughter of Mark Wahlberg’s character, while Brenton Thwaites is playing her boyfriend. Transformers 4 hits cinemas June 29th, 2014.

If you want to see a bit more of Jack, here’s the trailer for What Richard Did.

Brenton Thwaites & Nicola Peltz Join Transformers 4

December 11, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The robots may be staying the same, but the human cast is getting a complete makeover for Transformers 4. So it’s out with Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox (and indeed Rosie Huntington Whiteley), but up until now we’ve only that Mark Wahlberg would be amongst new human faces of the franchise.

However Twitch says they’ve found out who’s been offered the main young male and female roles – Brenton Thwaites and Nicola Peltz. While both are relative newcomers, former Home & Away actor Thwaites will soon be seen as the Young Prince in Maleficent. He beat out the likes of Hunter Parrish (Weeds), Luke Grimes (Taken 2), Landon Liboiron (Terra Nova), and Irise newcomer Jack Reynor for the role.

Peltz meanwhile has previously popped up in The Last Airbender and Deck The Halls. For her role, the likes of Isabelle Cornish (Abbie Cornish’s sister) and Margaret Qualley (daughter of Andie Macdowell) also tested

Peltz will play Wahlberg’s daughter, a high school senior, who at one point was apparently the main character although that’s apparently shifted to her dad in her recent drafts of the script. Thwaites will be her biker boyfriend.

So far neither Paramount nor director Michael Bay has confirmed the news, but an official announcement should be coming soon.

Hunter Parrish & More Auditioning For Transformers 4

November 15, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It appears development of Transformers 4 is now running at full steam. Last week it was revealed Mark Wahlberg was attached to star in the movie and now Michael Bay is looking to get him some company, as THR reports that the director is auditioning a number of up and coming actors to play Wahlberg’s daughter and her race-car driver boyfriend.

Hunter Parrish (Weeds), Luke Grimes (Taken 2), Landon Liboiron (Terra Nova), Brenton Thwaites (Blue Lagoon: The Awakening), and newcomer Jack Reynor will be testing for the boyfriend role this week. Nicola Peltz (The Last Airbender) and Isabelle Cornish (Abbie Cornish’s sister), are auditioning to play the daughter.

Whoever gets cast will apparently need to sign a three-picture deals for these roles, suggesting they’ll play a big part in the franchise’s future. This new trilogy will be a continuation of the series rather than a reboot, but it will feature an entirely new human cast.

Michael Bay will direct from a script by Ehren Kruger, although it isn’t known exactly when production will begin. It can’t be too long until camera roll though as a release date of June 29th, 2014 is already set.

Mark Wahlberg Confirmed For Transformers 4

November 9, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Just yesterday we reported that it appeared Michael Bay had been listening to voices on the internet and was considering Mark Wahlberg for Transformers 4. Now it’s been confirmed that Wahlberg is indeed going to star in the movie, and we also get our first look at the logo for the movie.

In a press release on Michael Bay’s website, it’s revealed that, ‘After an exceptionally successful collaboration on the upcoming Pain and Gain, Michael Bay has cast Academy Award®-nominee Mark Wahlberg in the highly anticipated TRANSFORMERS 4. The film will hit theaters June 27th, 2014.’

“Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on Pain and Gain and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy,” said Bay.

There’s no news on the plot or the character Wahlberg will play, but shooting will star in the spring and we do know that this will be a continuation rather than a reboot, although it will have a completely new human cast.

Michael Bay Hints Transformers 4 May Cast Mark Wahlberg After All

November 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While most directors ignore what’s said about them and their projects online, Michael Bay is one of the few who not only keeps an eye on things, but is prone respond (and sometimes have a rant) about what people have said.

Earlier this month the web rumour mill decided that Bay was close to signing Mark Wahlberg for Transformers 4. It seems that at the time there was not truth in it, and Bay quickly debunked the story, the rumour apparently intrigued him.

It appears the idea got his brain working, and it now seems Wahlberg may have a role in Transformers 4 after all. Here’s what the director said about it on his official website: “I squashed a rumor that was on the internet last week. It was about Mark Wahlberg. Mark was rumored to be staring in Transformers 4. We are working on another movie together, not T4. I had such a great time working with Mark on Pain and Gain, and he gave such a great performance – well let’s say that very internet chatter gave me some ideas. We are at the inception of our story process right now on T4. Let’s say some ideas are gaining traction with me and my writer – so I’m here to say thanks internet chatter.”

That doesn’t mean he Wahlberg will definitely be in the film, but it appears there’s now a good chance. The new film will feature an entirely new cast, although it won’t be a full reboot. It isn’t known when production will begin, but a release date June 29th, 2014 is already set.

Michael Bay Confirmed For Transformers 4

February 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

After every Transformers film, Michael Bay says ‘never again’, and then a few months later he’s signed on the dotted line to make another. After Transformer 3, he once more said he was done, but now Paramount has announced he’s coming back for Transformers 4, but the studio will let him make Pain & Gain first, a smaller movie Bay’s been developing for years, but which he’s kept putting back so he can make giant robot flicks.

Based on a true story, Pain and Gain follows a group of bodybuilders who engaged in a campaign of kidnapping, extortion and murder in Florida. First told in an article from the Miami New Times, the movie will star Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Shooting is expected to start in early spring.

Following Pain and Gain, Bay will go back to the Transformers franchise as he begins production on the fourth installment in the hit series, which has now been set for release on June 29th, 2014. There’s no news on a plot or stars, but as things stands, Shia LaBeouf won’t return.

“Michael has been working on Pain and Gain for a number of years but has patiently waited for the perfect casting to trigger a start,” said Adam Goodman, President of Paramount’s Film Group. “Clearly his patience has paid off as we couldn’t be more excited about this combo. His passion for this project is just awesome.”
