A couple of weeks ago it was revealed that the Netflix series Jessica Jones would give us the first major LGBT character in the Marvel screen universe, in the form of Carrie-Anne Moss’s Jeri Hogarth, who is a lesbian. There are also suggestions the main character may be bisexual.
Now the first trailer for the series has been unveiled.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘After a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases in New York City.
‘Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) is joined by an amazing cast including David Tennant (Kilgrave), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval, among others.’

While it’s traditionally thought that actors are either going to make it in the movies when they’re young or not at all, it certainly wasn’t true for Ian McKellen, who as a young actor gained an impressive reputation on the stage but didn’t get many film roles.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is getting a remake, this time as a TV event made for the Fox Network which is set to be directed by High School Musical’s Kenny Ortega. Now the production has found the person for the iconic role of Frank-N-Furter – the wonderful Laverne Cox.
Tangerine got huge amount of praise when it debuted at Sundance, then went on to win numerous awards at film festivals around the world, and recently screened at the London FIlm Festival. Not bad for a trangender-themed movie that was shot in iPhones.
There are a few gay-themed movies that have been submitted by various countries hoping to win the Best Foreign Film Oscar, and one of those in from Thailand, which has put forward How to Win at Checkers (Every Time) as it’s submission.

Vessels, by US filmmaker Arkasha Stevenson, about Diamond, a young transgender woman working at a garment factory for little pay, has been announced winner of the 2015 Iris Prize – Cardiff’s International LGBT Short Film Prize supported by The Michael Bishop Foundation. The £30,000 prize will allow Arkasha to make a new short film in the UK.
After shooting in Valencia, Spain, last summer, post-production is nearly complete on director Alejandro Beltrán’s new short film, Lost Years. And with the milestone nearly passed, he’s released a trailer for the film, which you can take a look at below.
