Peyton Reed Returning To Direct Ant-Man And The Wasp

October 22, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

peyton-reedMarvel hasn’t had a real failure yet despite making films from properties many people couldn’t work on screen. That’s certainly true of Ant-Man, especially after director Edgar Wright left it behind, as many thought he was the only one who could turn it into something worthwhile.

However Peyton Reed took over and turned it into a $450 million grossing hit. As a result Marvel wants him back and THR reports he’s in talks to return to helm the planned sequel, Ant-Man And The Wasp.

Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly are both set to return for the film, and it’s expected many of the other actors from the first movie will be back too.

There’s no script yet, with Marvel planning to get going on that once Peyton Reed has signed on the dotted line, so that he can supervise it. It’s due out July 2018.

October 21, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s got a great cast too, with Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Aaron Paul, Quvenzhane Wallis and Jane Fonda starring.

Jane Got A Gun Trailer – Natalie Portman goes to the Old West with Ewan McGregor

October 21, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jane-got-a-gun-slideJane Got A Gun got off to a really rough start, with cast issues and director Lynne Ramsey leaving the day before it was due to start shooting. That caused huge delays, more cast changes and the recruitment at short notice of a new helmer, Gavin O’Connor (Warrior).

Hopefully it’s manage to overcome those teething issues.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Jane Got a Gun [Natalie Portman] centers on Jane Hammond, who has built a new life with her husband Bill “Ham” Hammond after being tormented by the ultra-violent Bishop Boys outlaw gang. She finds herself in the gang’s cross-hairs once again when Ham stumbles home riddled with bullets after dueling with the Boys and their relentless mastermind Colin. With the vengeful crew hot on Ham’s trail, Jane has nowhere to turn but to her former fiancé Dan Frost for help in defending her family against certain destruction. Joy Trailer – Jennifer Lawrence invents the miracle mop for director David O. Russell

October 21, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

joy-teaser-posterJennifer Lawrence reunites with director David O. Russell (American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook) with a new film – all about mops. Well, sort of, as it’s about the inventor of the Miracle Mop, although as the trailer shows, it’s perhaps more mob movie (with a dash of comedy) than flowery biopic.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘JOY is the wild story of a family across four generations centered on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce. Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy’s inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces. Jennifer Lawrence stars, with Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, and Virginia Madsen. Like David O. Russell’s previous films, Joy defies genre to tell a story of family, loyalty, and love.’

Joy is in UK cinemas 1st January 2016. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

New The Danish Girl Trailer – Eddie Redmayne is transgender pioneer Lili Elbe

October 17, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Eddie-Redmayne-Danish-Girl-slideIn The Danish Girl, Eddie Redmayne stars as Lili Elbe, who became one of the first women to undergo sex-reassignment surgery way back in the early 1930s.

Here’s the official synopsis: ‘Based on the book by David Ebershoff, The Danish Girl is the remarkable love story inspired by the lives of Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener (portrayed by Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne [The Theory of Everything] and Alicia Vikander [Ex Machina]), and directed by Academy Award winner Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech, Les Misérables). Lili and Gerda’s marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lili’s groundbreaking journey as a transgender pioneer.’

That doesn’t give a lot of detail, but at film will chart the journey of the person who started out asDanish painter Einar Wegener (Redmayne), and his wife, Gerda. In 1931 Einar is thought to have become the first person in the world to have a sex-change operation, when she became Lili. It’s believed the journey started – at least openly – after Gerda asked Einar to stand in for a female subject that Gerda was supposed to paint. The painting became incredibly popular and Lili began to express who she truly was.

The movie will hit UK cinemas on New Year’s Day 2016, which will ensure it’s ripe for a major awards run. [Read more…]

New Kill Your Friends Trailer – Nicholas Hoult takes the music business to murderous levels

October 17, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kill-your-friends-poster2-slide-nicholas-houltNicholas Hoult leaves zombies, mutants and Mad Max behind for a while to head into the music business with the upcoming Kill Your Friends, which has release a new trailer and a sexy new poster.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘When the road to success is littered with losers and even your closest colleagues are desperate for you to fail, what would you do to make it to the top?

‘London, 1997; the British music industry is on a winning streak. Britpop bands Blur, Oasis, Radiohead rule the airwaves and Cool Britannia is in full swing. 27-year-old hit chasing A&R man Steven Stelfox (Nicholas Hoult) is slashing and burning his way through the music business, a world where ‘no one knows anything’ and where careers are made and broken by chance and the fickle tastes of the general public – “Yeah, those animals”.

‘Fuelled by greed, ambition and inhuman quantities of drugs, Stelfox searches for his next hit record amid a relentless orgy of self-gratification. Created by an industry that demands success at any price, as the hits dry up and the industry begins to change, Stelfox takes the concept of ‘killer tunes’ to a murderous new level in a desperate attempt to salvage his career.

‘Kill Your Friends is a dark, satirical and hysterically funny evisceration of the Nineties music business. A time and place populated by frauds, charlatans and bluffers; where ambition is a higher currency than talent, and where it seems anything can be achieved – as long as you want it badly enough.’

Kill Your Friends will be in UK cinemas on November 6th. [Read more…]
