Will Ferrell & Zach Galifianakis Will Share Larry’s Kidney For Director Richard Linklater

May 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zach-galifianakisWill Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis seemed to be have a good time making The Campaign, and now they’re planning to work together again as TheWrap reports they are reuniting for Larry’s Kidney, with Richard Linklater directing.

Based on Daniel Asa Rose’s memoir, Ferrell will play Rose (Will Ferrell), who travels to China with his slightly odd cousin (Galifianakis) and his mail-order bride, in the hope that they can get hold of a black market human kidney that will save his life.

It’s not clear when it will shoot, but it appears Hollywood is particularly interested in the story’s Chinese angle. China is the fastest growing movie market in the world, and while numerous blockbusters have tried to include some Chinese interest, it’s less common for a comedy. The studios will be interested to see whether it works.

Bradley Cooper Signs Up For Arms and the Dudes, Reuniting With Todd Phillips

May 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bradley-cooperThey’ve made three Hangover movies together but that’s not enough for Bradley Cooper and Todd Phillips, as they’re getting back together for the comedy Arms and the Dudes, according to THR.

Indeed they like each other so much that this is the first project from a new Warner Bros-based production company they’ve recently set up together.

Phillips has been attached to the project since July 2011, but now Cooper has come on board to produce and may also star (although that’s not certain at the moment). The film is based on Guy Lawson’s Rolling Stone article, which chronicles the true story of 20-something stoners David Packouz and Efraim Diveroli, who managed to win a $300 million contract from the Pentagon to arm America’s allies in Afghanistan.

The two made 85 deliveries of munitions to Afghanistan worth more than $66 million before their arms-dealing careers were cut short when federal agents raided their Miami Beach offices in Aug. 2007, culminating in 71 counts of fraud, due to the poor quality arms they delivered.

In 2009 the duo plead guilty to one count of conspiracy and in January Diveroli was sentenced to four years in prison. You can read the article here.

Jonah Hill has apparently been involved in table reads for the project, but it isn’t known if he will star. Todd Phillips is currently finishing off the screenplay, with the hope of shooting the movie later this year.

The Riot Club Trailer – Douglas Booth, Sam Claflin, Max Irons really want to join

May 15, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Riot Club (previously) known as POSH, certainly has an attractive cast of young guys, but that doesn’t mean the movie will be any good. However now we have a taste with a trailer and poster.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Set amongst the privileged elite of Oxford University, THE RIOT CLUB follows Miles (Max Irons) and Alistair (Sam Claflin), two first year students determined to join the infamous Riot Club, where reputations can be made or destroyed over the course of a single evening.

‘THE RIOT CLUB is directed by Lone Scherfig, who most recently helmed ‘One Day’, and the Best Picture Academy Award nominee ‘An Education’. It is produced by Pete Czernin and Graham Broadbent of Blueprint Pictures (‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’, ‘Seven Psychopaths’).Screenwriter Laura Wade has adapted her critically-acclaimed play, ‘Posh’, with development support from the BFI Film Fund and Film4. ‘Posh’ premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 2010, before transferring to the West End.’

The Flash Extended Trailer – Grant Gustin goes fast (and shirtless)

May 15, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yj0l7iGKh8g

One of the most anticipated shows starting this autumn on TV is The Flash, starring Grant Gustin as the classic DC Comics character. We’ve already met his alter-ego Barry Allen in Arrow, but now we can have our first taste of the actual show with an extended five-minute trailer.

In Arrow we saw Allen have an accident that mixed lightning with science, but since then he’s been in a coma. However when he wakes up he realises that he’s the fastest man in the world, and becomes the superhero – The Flash.

You’ll also be pleased to see that while it may be more fantastical than Arrow, it hasn’t dispensed with getting the guys to take their shirts off (and after all, isn’t that the most important thing?).

Take a look at the trailer above and look out for the show this autumn. [Read more…]

Cinderella Teaser Trailer – Plus a poster for Disney’s live-action fantasy

May 15, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Disney has released the first teaser for their live-action take on the classic fairy tale, Cinderella, along with a poster.

If you were hoping for a look at the cast though, you’ll be disappointed, but if you’re into glass slippers, you can really get your fill!

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The story of “Cinderella” follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.” She will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham-Carter) steps forward and – armed with a pumpkin and a few mice – changes Cinderella’s life forever.

‘A live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale, “Cinderella” brings to life the timeless images from Disney’s 1950 animated masterpiece as fully-realized characters in a visually dazzling spectacle for a whole new generation.’

An April 3rd, 2015 release date is currently set. [Read more…]

Mr. Turner Trailer – Take a look at Mike Leigh’s Cannes fave

May 15, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Mike Leigh rarely makes a bad movie and that seems to be continuing with Mr. Turner, which is getting some very favourable notices at Cannes.

And now we can take a look with a new trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘‘MR. TURNER’ explores the last quarter century of the great if eccentric British painter J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851) [played by Timothy Spall]. Profoundly affected by the death of his father, loved by a housekeeper he takes for granted and occasionally exploits sexually, he forms a close relationship with a seaside landlady with whom he eventually lives incognito in Chelsea, where he dies. Throughout this, he travels, paints, stays with the country aristocracy, visits brothels, is a popular if anarchic member of the Royal Academy of Arts, has himself strapped to the mast of a ship so that he can paint a snowstorm, and is both celebrated and reviled by the public and by royalty. First Look At Addison Timlin, Jeremy Irvine & Harrison Gilbertson In Fallen

May 15, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

fallen-pic1While in the last few years young adult adaptations have proven a more miss than hit affair, the fact they often don’t cost a huge amount to make but have potentially massive rewards means Hollywood is still very keen on them.

One that’s coming sometime in 2015 is Fallen, which features a very attractive cast including Addison Timlin, Jeremy Irvine & Harrison Gilbertson – and now we get our first look at them with the pic above. It certainly doesn’t seem to be shying away from potential Twilight comparisons.

The film is based on Lauren Kate’s young adult supernatural fantasy novel about an alienated teen girl, Luce Price (Timlin), who is drawn to the mysterious and aloof Daniel Grigori (Irvine) from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch their every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce, she can’t let go and has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret. As secrets unfurl, it becomes clear Daniel may not be what he appears, and there could be a reason he seems so familiar. Harrison Gilbertson plays Cameron ‘Cam’ Briel, a bad boy who also has a dark secret.

Scott Hicks (The Lucky One) is directing from a screenplay co-written by author Lauren Kate, Nichole Millard and Kathryn Price. It isn’t clear when it will shoot.

And just in case you were wondering if Jeremy Irvine really was looking that hot, I’ve included a close-up below. [Read more…]
