Hollywood adores movies about weddings, even though most of them are god-awful. However at least The Big Wedding has a decent cast, even if the trailer doesn’t make it seem all that good. Robert DeNiro, Katherine Heigl, Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried, Topher Grace, Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams star in what’s described as ‘an uproarious romantic comedy about a charmingly modern family trying to survive a weekend wedding celebration that has the potential to become a full blown family fiasco. To the amusement of their adult children and friends, long divorced couple Don and Ellie Griffin (De Niro and Keaton) are once again forced to play the happy couple for the sake of their adopted son’s wedding after his ultra conservative biological mother unexpectedly decides to fly halfway across the world to attend. With all of the wedding guests looking on, the Griffins are hilariously forced to confront their past, present and future – and hopefully avoid killing each other in the process. Wes Craven might not have had too much success with Scream 4, but he’s sticking with the horror genre and teaming up with Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) for a new graphic novel entitled Coming of Rage, which will also be adapted into a movie.
Brendan Fraser is a sort of 21st Century version of the b-movie actors of the 1950s – quite popular but rarely in anything that’s all that good. He’s had a particularly rough patch with the likes of Extraordinary Measures and Furry Vengeance, but he’s got an awful lot of film in post-production and now he’s signed up to make one more, the action thriller Split Decision.

Hugh Jackman and openly gay director Lee Daniels (Precious) tried to team up last year for a civil rights march drama, but that fell through due to lack of funding. Now they’re trying again, once more for a project about the civil rights struggle.
If you asked most people who’d they’d expect to pair up for a movie, few people would say James Franco and Jason Statham – especially working from a script by Sylvester Stallone. However perhaps it shouldn’t be the surprising, as Franco seems to make it his mission in life to confound expectations.
