Theo & Hugo Red Band Trailer – Take a look at the sexy new gay-themed love story

August 17, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

theo-and-hugoTheo and Hugo has proven a big success at film festivals, including getting a very good reception at the BFI Flare: London LGBT Film Festival earlier this year. Now it’s on its way to UK cinemas, and a NSFW trailer has arrived to give us a feel for the film.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Théo and Hugo encounter each other’s bodies one night in a Paris sex club. Wanting to know more about each other, they leave the club and drift down the deserted streets of nocturnal Paris. Suddenly they find themselves confronted by a sense of reality that wipes out their freedom and lends each step an existential helplessness.

‘Do they want to know more about each other?  Will their trust be rewarded? What are their expectations?

‘Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau (Drôle de Félix, Born in 68) deliver their most ambitious film yet, displaying a consummate sensitivity in bringing us closer to two men as they strive for intimacy in spite of being stalled by their insecurity.’

It’s also been noted for how explicit it is, with co-director Jaques Martineau commenting: “We were telling a real story and we were all focused on that so it made filming the sex as natural as we’d imagined it when we conceived the project. It’s not just a scene of sexual intercourse and the demands of the story meant that the ‘performance’ of filming actors with erections faded into the background (even if it’s not the same as filming a family meal!). We had to believe in these two people falling in love and the passionate surge of desire.”

Take a look at the trailer below. It’ll be in UK cinemas on September 9th. [Read more…]

American Honey Trailer – Shia LaBeouf stars in a troubled teen tale

August 17, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

american-honeyWith all his bizarre (and sometimes rather student-y) performance art pieces and idiosyncratic behaviour, it’s easy to forget that when he fancies it, Shia LeBeouf is still an actor. However, you probably won’t be too surprised to hear that his next movie isn’t a Transformers style blockbuster, but an indie movie.

However it’s one that’s been very well received, getting some excellent reviews following its Cannes debut. Now we can get a taste for ourselves with a trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Star (Sasha Lane), an adolescent girl from a troubled home, runs away with a traveling sales crew who drive across the American Midwest selling subscriptions door to door. Finding her feet in this gang of teenagers, one of whom is Jake (Shia LaBeouf), she soon gets into the group’s lifestyle of hard-partying nights, law-bending days, and young love.’ It’ll be in US cinemas next month. Get A Full Body Look At Bill Skarsgard’s Pennywise In The New Stephen King’s It Movie

August 17, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pennywise-it-bill-skarsgard-slideA few weeks ago – and very shortly after it started shooting – we got our first look at Bill Skargard as the evil Pennywise the Clown in the new two-part film adaptation of Stephen King’s It. That’s now been follow by another image that shows us character’s entire body rather than just his face.

While Tim Curry’s take on Pennywise in the 1990 TV mini-series version was based on a circus clown, the new take takes from of its inspiration from the classic Commedia dell’Arte and other historical clowns. It certainly looks pretty creepy. The story will be told across two movies, with the first dealing with a group of children’s interaction with a sewer-dwelling, shape-shifting monster that takes the form of an evil clown, and the second with what happens once they’ve grown up and return to take on the menace again.

It’s currently shooting, with Andrés Muschietti directing. The first part is due for release September 2017. [Read more…]

Elizabeth Banks’ Rita Repulsa Gets Trapped In New Power Rangers Image

August 17, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

power-rangers-elizabeth-banksIt can’t be long until we get a trailer for the new Power Rangers movie, but until then we’ve got a new image featuring Elizabeth Banks as the evil Rita Repula, trapped behind some type of ice or crystal wall. Once again it underlines that this won’t be like the fun but slightly cheesy TV show.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.’

The movie will be in cinemas next February.

Will Ferrell & John C. Reilly Reuniting For Holmes and Watson

August 17, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

will-ferrell-john-c-reillySherlock Holmes already holds the record for the literary character with the most on-screen adaptations. Now it looks like he might be getting another one, with time turning the famous detective more comic, as Deadline reports that Stepbrothers and Talladega Nights co-stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are reuniting for Holmes and Watson.

The movie will give Sherlock a PG-13 comic spin, with Ferrell and Holmes and Reilly as Watson. Previously it was going to be Ferrell and Sasha Baron Cohen, but after the Borat actor left, Sony quickly replaced him with Reilly, with plans to push is into production soon.

Etan Cohen, who directed Ferrell in Get Hard, is set to helm the movie. The movie will go into production at the end of the year, for release in 2017.

Ben Whishaw May Join Mary Poppins Sequel

August 15, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

lilting-ben-whishawDisney’s planned follow-up to Mary Poppins is fast coming together, with Emily Blunt in the lead role, Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda in the equivalent of the Dick Van Dyke role, and Meryl Streep in talks to play Poppins’ cousin, Topsy. Now THR reports that London Spy and Spectre star Ben Whishaw may be joining them.

He’s in talks to play an adult Michael Banks in the movie, which will be set in the 1930s and follow Michael and Jane Banks, as well as their children, after a major event takes place in their lives. That event results in the return of the magical Mary Poppins, who teams up with her lamplighter friend Jack (Miranda) to help the family.

Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Smash) will write the songs, with David Magee penning the script. Rob Marshall is set to direct. The current plan is to shoot early next year, for release December 2018.

New Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Trailer – Felicity Jones heads for a galaxy far, far away

August 12, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

rogue-one-slideWhile the first teaser trailer for Rogue One was pretty cool, there have been rumours of trouble behind the scenes, with Disney said to be concerned about the tone, and the need for extensive reshoots. However, the latest trailer continues to make this look like it could be awesome. It certainly has a different feel to The Force Awakens,  and it’s not surprising they have gone for a slightly 1970s look, as the film is set just before A New Hope.

The film follows the mission that got hold of the Death Star plans that played such a vital role in the first movie, with the trailer not just teasing the planet destroying weapon, but also the fact Darth Vader will feature in the movie. And after the success of Rey, the trailer introduces us to another strong heroine in the form of Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso.

The movie hits cinemas in December. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]
