Mowgli Meets Bagheera In The First Poster For Disney’s Live-Action Jungle Book

August 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jungle-book-2016-poster1Disney has plans to make live-action versions of all sorts of tales they’ve previously made classic animated movies about, but one that’s intrigued many is The Jungle Book, which is due to arrive in cinemas Aprils 2016.

At Disney’s D23 they’ve released the first poster for the movie, which you can take a look at above.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Directed by Jon Favreau (“Chef,” “Iron Man,” “Elf”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johannsson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.

‘The all-star cast also includes Lupita Nyong’o as the voice of the fiercely protective mother wolf Raksha, and Giancarlo Esposito as the voice of wolf pack’s alpha male Akela. “The Jungle Book” seamlessly blends live-action with photorealistic CGI animals and environments, using up-to-the-minute technology and storytelling techniques to immerse audiences in an enchanting and lush world.’

Life Trailer – Dane DeHaan & Robert Pattinson take on James Dean & photographer Dennis Stock

August 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

life-slideIt feel like we’ve been waiting eons for Life, the film about the meeting between James Dean very early in his career and life photographer Dennis Stock. However the movie is now on its way and the trailer has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘LIFE tells the story of photographer Dennis Stock (Robert Pattinson) who convinced a rebellious young actor on the cusp of stardom, James Dean (Dane DeHaan) to allow him to shoot him for LIFE Magazine. The men take a trip from LA to Dean’s hometown of Fairmont, Indiana, via Times Square, New York so that Stock could, in his words, capture Dean in all the environments that had “affected and shaped the unique character “.

‘While Stock thinks he’s capturing a star in the moment before he breaks; in fact, he’s documenting Dean’s last moments of intimacy and simplicity. In the process of their journey, a deep affection and improbable friendship gradually develops between the two young men. Their trip would result in some of the most iconic images of the age and a new breed of film star.’

The movie is due out in the UK on September 25th. [Read more…]

Vampire Strippers Must Die Trailer – Do male strippers bite? They do need your help though.

August 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

vampire-strippers-must-die-poster-slideThe first things most people think of when they think ‘male strippers’ is ‘vampires’. No, they don’t, but that’s no reason why we shouldn’t mix them together! That’s the idea behind Male Strippers Must Die. However, while the movie already has a trailer (which you can watch below), it hasn’t gone into production yet, partly because it needs some more cash, which it’s hoping to raise via an ambitious $125,000 IndieGoGo campaign.

The sexy horror-comedy is set to star America’s Next Top Model’s Bryant Wood and underwear supermodel Pablo Hernandez, in their first feature film acting roles. The script for the film previously won the New York LGBT Film Fest’s Screenwriting competition in 2010.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Set to go into production in November 2015, the wacky comedy by award-winning filmmaker Keith Hartman follows a group of American male strippers on tour in Eastern Europe faced with having to battle the undead. With fantastic dance numbers, jaw-dropping epic fight scenes, fun plot twists, and funny, yet memorable character moments, Vampire Strippers Must Die! will feature more hot boys than you can shake a stick at, and then some. The film will also star famous fitness model John Suazo, and other exciting new talent.

‘While the men of Chippendales perform in London, Paris and Milan, the men of Overnight Male are stuck playing low rent dive bars in Bulgaria. After six weeks on tour, everyone is getting just a teeny bit cranky. The straight strippers and gay strippers are ready to kill each other, and the only thing holding the band of American male strippers together is their geeky and resourceful tour manager, Jake. No matter what Eastern Europe throws at them, Jake’s been able to handle it, whether it’s been aggressive fans, thieving bar owners, broken buses, or even the occasional need for bail money. Vampires, though, are a new one.

‘Vampire Strippers Must Die! will feature a lonely vampire hunter who has never gotten over his high school boyfriend. A female vampire who has been in a bad relationship for 300 years, before finally discovering the small screen wisdom of Dr. Phil. And a pair of twin brothers who strip together but compete over everything.’

The trailer is being released as part of the film’s Indiegogo campaign. A successful campaign will give Hartman the resources for an ideal 18-day shoot, which will allow them to shoot all of the stunts, fight scenes and dance numbers to make this film as fresh and as exciting as possible.  [Read more…]

The Hateful Eight Trailer – Quentin Tarantino traps people in a blizzard

August 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hateful-eight-slideAfter a false start where he said he wasn’t going to make The Hateful Eight due to a script leak, Quentin Tarantino’s film is in the can and heading for release at the end of the year. But what’s this return to the 19th Century American West like? Well, the first full trailer as arrived to give us a feel.

And who are the ‘eight’?: Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Demian Bichir, Michael Madsen and Bruce Dern.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…’ [Read more…]

Trumbo Trailer – Bryan Cranston gets Blacklisted by Hollywood

August 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

TRUMBO-bryan-cranstonThis could be one of the films that will be reaping in the nominations come awards seasons, if its backers get their way. With a prime November US release planned, it’s main issue may be if Hollywood voters see it as too critical of their industry.

Now we get our first taste with a trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The successful career of 1940s screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston) comes to a crushing end when he and other Hollywood figures are blacklisted for their political beliefs. TRUMBO (directed by Jay Roach) tells the story of his fight against the U.S. government and studio bosses in a war over words and freedom, which entangled everyone in Hollywood from Hedda Hopper (Helen Mirren) and John Wayne to Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger.’

That’s a roundabout way of saying that in 1947, Trumbo was called before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) during their investigation into Communist influences in Hollywood. He refused to testify and ‘name names’, and subsequently became one of the ‘Hollywood 10′ screenwriters who were blacklisted by the studio system.

However he continued to write under pen names, winning two Oscars in the 1950s under other names for Roman Holiday and The Brave One. When he was hired to write Spartacus, Kirk Douglas insisted he be allowed to do so under his own name, which helped put an end to blacklist once and for all. [Read more…]

Tom Hardy Putting Together 100 Bullets Comic Adaptation

August 11, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tom-hardyTom Hardy may have had to step away from the comic book adaptation Suicide Squad due to his commitment to the overrunning The Revenant shoot, but he’s not completely leaving the comic world as he’s set to produce a film version of the Vertigo Comic, 100 Bullets.

THR says of the property, ‘Running for 100 issues from 1999 to 2009, the acclaimed comic centered on an enigmatic man named Agent Graves as he presents different people, for reasons unknown, with a gun, the identity of the person who ruined their lives … and a hundred rounds of untraceable ammunition. Over the course of the series emerged a large crime saga that won accolades in the form of Eisner and Harvey Awards for Azzarello, Risso and the comic. The plot for movie is being kept locked in a briefcase but insiders say the plan is to stay true to the comic.’

It sounds like the film Hardy was talking about recently when he teased a return to the DC Comics world (Vertigo is a DC imprint), where he said, “It contains elements of all kinds of stuff. From Ocean’s Eleven, to Batman, you can get all the wrappers out and it would be a big, really cool, Technicolor Pulp Fiction. It’s a psychological fuckfest, it’s absolutely awesome. It’s as if you would take Transmetropolitan and make it happen, but it’s not that out there [as in a futuristic cyberpunk world]. It’s something which is much more real world. It could be like Heat, it could be fucking awesome.”

At the moment Tom is purely set to produce, although it’s being put together as a movie for him to star in, although he won’t fully commit to that until development is a bit further down the line.

Leonardo DiCaprio & Martin Scorsese Reuniting True Crime Tale Devil in the White City

August 11, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

leonardo-dicaprioMartin Scorsese is a director who likes to have muses, but it seems Leonardo DiCaprio may see the famed director as his muse, as he’s brought the helmer in to direct one of his passion project, and adaptation of Erik Larson’s true-crime thriller, The Devil In The White City, according to Deadline.

Leo has long wanted to bring the book to the screen, but even with his backing it’s been a tough sell, but with Scorsese also backing it, it’s finally got some traction, with Paramount winning a major bidding battle to take on the movie.

In the movie, ‘DiCaprio will play one of the most prolific serial killers in Chicago history, the 19th century equivalent of Hannibal Lecter.’ He would be the legendary Dr H.H. Holmes, a man who has already inspired many movie characters and is most famed for his ‘murder castle’, a hotel he had built complete with secret passages, tube and various contraption which allowed him to kill people at his leisure.

The Imitation Game’s Graham Moore will write the script, although it’s not clear when it might shoot.

Zac Efron In Talks For His Most Shirtless Role Yet – Baywatch The Movie

August 10, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zac-efron-slideThe Rock has been attached to a planned movie version of Baywatch for a while, and now he may have some company, as THR reports that Zac Efron is in talks to co-star.

Yes, Efron has managed it, finding the most shirtless role he could possibly have – he’s spent several years trying to find excuses to show off his abs, and now he’s got a film where he probably wouldn’t need to wear a shirt all!

The film take on the extremely popular (at the time) 1990s TV series follow a ‘by-the-book and very serious lifeguard (Johnson) who is forced to team up with a young rule-flouting hothead (Efron) in order to save their beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon’.

It sounds as if Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon is going for a bit of a 21 Jump Street vibe, which isn’t surprising considering how successful that TV to movie adaptation was. The hope is to shoot the film early next year (probably starting in February).
