Tru Love Trailer – Unexpected bonds between three women in the lesbian-themed movie

April 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Tru Love has had some great notices following its film festival screenings, including recently at London’s BFI Flare fest, so if it comes anywhere near you, make sure you check it out.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Tru, 37, is a serial bed-hopping lesbian who cannot commit to a relationship or a job for long.

‘Restless by nature and wounded by the past, she seems to live from pillar to post, from mattress to mattress, bobbing along through life with no anchor to ground her. She gets by on her wits, her considerable good looks and charm — but at her age, it is all starting to wear a little thin.

‘Then she meets Alice, 60, a beautiful widow, who has come to town at the last minute to visit her daughter Suzanne, a too-busy corporate lawyer. Suzanne, 35, is Tru’s friend.

‘When Tru meets Alice, sparks fly and Alice and Tru begin forging an unlikely friendship…and more. Suzanne, who has a deeply conflicted relationship with her mother and a complicated and a secret past with Tru, becomes increasingly alarmed at the growing bond between Tru and Alice.

‘After Suzanne witnesses an intimate moment between the two, feeling jealous and threatened, she tries to sabotage the budding romance. But it backfires, as Tru Love is hard to contain.’

It’ll be released on DVD and VoD in the US by Wolfe Video later this year. [Read more…]

The Way He Looks Trailer – Fresh look at the Teddy-Award winning gay film

April 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A couple of months ago The Way He Looks picked up the Teddy Award at the Berlin Film Festival, which is given each year to the best LGBT-themed movie. It was good news for fans of the short film it’s based on, the great I Don’t Want to Go Back Alone (which you can watch below), who’d hope the feature version would live up to the short’s promise.

Now you can take a look at a trailer above.

The Brazilian movie is Daniel Ribeiro’s first feature and charts the story of Leonardo; a blind teenager dealing with an overprotective mother while trying to live a more independent life. To the disappointment of his best friend, Giovana, he plans to go on an exchange program abroad. When Gabriel, a new student in town, arrives at their classroom, new feelings blossom in Leonardo making him question his plans to fulfil his promise to Giovana. [Read more…]

Out To Kill Trailer – Take a look at the latest gay-themed flick from The Men Next Door’s Rob Williams

April 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Rob Williams is a bit of a one-man gay movie industry, directing the likes of The Men Next Door, Role/Play and Make The Yuletide Gay and also co-founding the LGBT film distributor Guest House Picture.

Now he’s returning with a gay murder mystery thriller, Out To Kill, and the trailer is here!

The movie stars stars singer-songwriter Tom Goss (making his film debut) as a hypersexual, snarky and conniving singer named Justin Jaymes. Out To Kill is ‘an intricate and sexy “whodunit” murder mystery centered around a group of gay men living in a Tampa loft complex. When Justin Jaymes is found dead in the building’s pool, his neighbors enlist the help of resident private eye Jim Noble (Sell) to track down the killer.’

Scott Sell, Mark Strano and Rob Moretti (who recently wrote, directed and appeared in Truth) also star.

Out To Kill is currently heading out on the festival circuit. [Read more…]

April 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Johnny Depp Will Be Part Of Kevin Smith’s Strange Horror-Thriller Tusk

April 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

johnny-depp-slideJohnny Depp isn’t afraid of doing unexpected things just because it sounds fun, and it seems he’s at it again as it appears he’s going to have a role in Kevin Smith’s strange horror-thriller, Tusk.

It’s Tusk’s leading man, Justin Long, who made the surprising revelation in an interview with Newsday, where he refers to the film as being, “Yeah, the one where a man turns into a war horse [sic]. It’s called Tusk. Johnny Depp is in that one.”

But it’s not a war horse, it’s a walrus, with Long as a journalist who lands the story of a lifetime when he meets Mr. Howe (Michael Parks), an adventurer who has a strange penchant for the sea mammals. After he goes missing, his friends must find him. Genesis Rodriguez, Haley Joel Osment and Ralph Garman co-star.

It would be easy to think Justin Long was just joking, but it does fit with a tweet from Smith last September, where he said, ‘HE’S IN!!! HE’S IN!!!!!! #WalrusYes (More info when I can share it. Just needed to mark the highlight of my career for future reference…)’.

Johnny Depp’s role has not been confirmed, but TheWrap suggests that he may be a French-Canadian inspector named, Guy LaPointe, who looking a strange case involving a man trapped in a walrus costume. It’s only a small part, which Kevin Smith has said would be perfect for a big star cameo, as it only involves two days of filming.

Great Gatsby Director Baz Luhrmann Gets Ready For Kung Fu

April 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Baz-LuhrmannLast week it was revealed that Universal Pictures and Legendary are pushing forward with a film version of the classic 1970s TV series, Kung Fu. Now THR reports that a perhaps unexpected name is in talks to direct, Moulin Rouge and Great Gatsby’s Baz Luhrmann.

Rich Wilkes (xXx, Marvel’s Iron Fist) has been working on the script, but assuming Luhrmann does sign up, he’ll also want to rewrite the screenplay.

The original Kung Fu TV series starred David Carradine as Kwai Chang Caine, a Shaolin monk who roams the American heartland, long for his missing half-brother. This movie version will be set in China, where Caine is searching for his father. The current version of the script has him ending up in jail, where he must fight to survive.

Luhrmann has never made an action movie before (he was flirted with the western on more than one occasion though), although his stylized, rather hyperbolic moviemaking methods could certainly make this an interesting visual feast.

Hopefully he’ll actually get the movie made as a film version of Kung Fu has been in development for years, most recently with Bill Paxton attached to direct back in 2011.

Gerard Butler Will Take On Man-Made Weather In Geostorm

April 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Gerard Butler

Gerard Butler has a talent for signing on for movies that sound a bit fun and a bit rubbish at the same time. Now he’s got another one as Variety reports he is attached to star in the sci-fi adventure, Geostorm.

Independence Day writer/producer Dean Devlin is set to direct the movie, which is about a stubborn and charming satellite designer (Gerard Butler), who is forced to team up with his estranged brother to save the world from a man-made storm, after an array of weather satellites begin to malfunction.

They set off into space in order to save the day, and just to make things a bit more difficult/preposterous, they must also deal with an assassination plot against the US President.

Somehow we’re not expecting this to be a cinematic masterpiece, but Devlin’s years working with Roland Emmerich might have taught him how to make it fun. Geostorm is set to begin filming this autumn.

Dolphin Tale 2 Trailer – Morgan Freeman and the tail-less dolphin return

April 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

2011’s Dolphin Tale made nearly $100 million at the worldwide box office and proved a big success on DVD, which was enough to ensure a sequel in now on its way, with all the main players returning, including Morgan Freeman, Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson and director Charles Martin Smith.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘It has been several years since young Sawyer Nelson (Gamble) and the dedicated team at the Clearwater Marine Hospital, headed by Dr. Clay Haskett (Connick, Jr.), rescued Winter. With the help of Dr. Cameron McCarthy (Freeman), who developed a unique prosthetic tail for the injured dolphin, they were able to save her life.

‘Yet their fight is not over. Winter’s surrogate mother, the very elderly dolphin Panama, has passed away, leaving Winter without the only poolmate she has ever known. However, the loss of Panama may have even greater repercussions for Winter, who, according to USDA regulations, cannot be housed alone, as dolphins’ social behavior requires them to be paired with other dolphins. Time is running out to find a companion for her before the team at Clearwater loses their beloved Winter to another aquarium.’

Once again it’s loosely based on a true story, with dolphin Winter playing herself. [Read more…]

New How to Train Your Dragon 2 Trailer – Hiccup and Toothless are back in action

April 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s taken a little while for DreamWorks to produce a follow-up to their 2010 hit How To Train Your Dragon (although there has been a pretty good TV series). However How To Train Your Dragon 2 is coming this summer, and now we can get a fresh look with a new trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Set for release in June 2014, The thrilling second chapter of the epic HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON trilogy brings us back to the fantastical world of Hiccup and Toothless five years after the two have successfully united dragons and vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snoutlout and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island’s new favorite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting unmapped territories and exploring new worlds.

‘When one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. Now, Hiccup and Toothless must unite to stand up for what they believe while recognizing that only together do they have the power to change the future of both men and dragons.’

Jay and Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie Trailer – Plus a poster for the upcoming film

April 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jay and Silent Bob are coming back, this time with a Super Groovy Cartoon Movie. Now we can take a look at the movie, even if it is pretty brief. But at least we get a poster too.

The film was made for an incredibly low price of $69,000 dollars. As a result it’s not the most sophisticated cartoon visuals we’ve ever seen, but as this new trailer shows, it could be rather fun.

The film sees the stoner duo becoming their superhero alter-egos, Bluntman and Chronic and heading off to fight crime. As you’d expect, there’s plenty of rude humour and dick jokes galore.

Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes are back on voice duties, as you’d hope. The film is out on demand in the US in May.

The film will come to the UK this summer as part of the Jay and Silent Bob Hollywood Babble-On Tour which features screenings of the Groovy Movie and then exclusive podcasts /Q&A’s after with Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes – find more details here. [Read more…]
