New Ice Age: Collision Course Trailer – How did Scrat get into space?

February 4, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ice-Age-New-Still-2The Ice Age films left any semblance of reality behind a long, long time ago. Well, any film about talking animals isn’t going to be realistic, but having dealt with everything from entire continents split aparts in minutes and bringin dinosaurs into the Ice Age, we shouldn’t be surprised that for its latest outing, Collision Course, at least one of the characters is going into space, while the others dealing with a massive meteor shower.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Scrat’s epic pursuit of the elusive acorn catapults him into the universe where he accidentally sets off a series of cosmic events that transform and threaten the Ice Age World.  To save themselves, Sid, Manny, Diego, and the rest of the herd must leave their home and embark on a quest full of comedy and adventure, travelling to exotic new lands and encountering a host of colourful new characters.

‘From Producer Lori Forte and Directors Mike Thurmeier and Galen Chu, ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE will be opening in cinemas 2016 and stars returning cast members Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Simon Pegg, Keke Palmer, Wanda Sykes with Jennifer Lopez and Queen Latifah.

‘Joining the herd are Stephanie Beatriz, Adam Devine, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Max Greenfield, Jessie J, Nick Offerman, Melissa Rauch, Michael Strahan, Neil deGrasse Tyson.’ The film will be in cinemas this summer.

Is Steven Soderbergh Coming Out Of Retirement To Direct A Channing Tatum Movie?

February 4, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

steven-soderbergh

Three years ago, Ocean’s 11 and Traffic helmer Steven Soderbergh announced he was retiring as a movie director, with his last theatrical movie being Side Effects, followed by the TV film, Behind The Candelabra. However, it appears he may have been lured out of his semi-retirement, with Variety reporting that he’s attached to helm a movie called Lucky Logan, which Channing Tatum is attached to star in.

To be honest it’s not particularly shocking news, as not only did Soderbergh keep delaying his initial retirement by making more movies, but he’s still been heavily involved in the industry as a producer and cinematographer, as well as direcing numerous episodes of the TV series The Knick. The new film would reunite Steven with his Magic Mike star (indeed Soderbergh was also a Producer and the Director Of Photography for the sequel, even though he didn’t direct).

There’s no info on the plot of Lucky Logan, with Variety just saying that its “a mystery, but sources say Soderbergh recently got his hands on the script and quickly fell in love with the premise”. However, before we cheer Soderbergh’s return to feature film directing, the director himself has suggested that’s not what happening, heading to Twitter to say, ‘That Variety story is wrong. What a shock.’

That doesn’t mean he isn’t involved in some capacity, or that it’s not other aspects of the story he’s disputing, but it’s a bit early to say he’s definitely going to be in the director’s chair.

Departure Trailer – A gay teen deals with the implosion of his family

February 3, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

departure-trailerSometimes you watch a trailer for a gay-themed movie and it really looks like it might be one of the few that truly stands out from the rest. Departure is one of those films, which has a good cast, an interesting looking story and seems like it’s going to be beautiful to look at.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Juliet Stevenson (Truly Madly Deeply, Bend It Like Beckham, The Village) and Alex Lawther (The Imitation Game, X&Y) star in this new British drama about a mother and son – both of whom are coming of age in their own ways.

Stevenson plays Beatrice, an independent and strong willed woman in midst of starting again. She is in the middle of a separation from her husband and is trying to work out how to live life on her own terms. Together with her son, Elliot (Lawther) they have come to their holiday home in the French countryside where they are getting ready to pack up and sell the house. Whilst on the trip, Elliot meets the handsome French bad boy, Clement (Brossard) and he begins to work through the dawning of his own sexuality and alienation from his mother.

DEPARTURE looks to force both mother and son to confront their own desires and in turn each other. This is a beautiful and poetic story, which takes advantage of the French setting and is filled with stunningly beautiful moments both in the script and on screen.. ‘

Andrew Steggall’s movie will be in UK cinemas on April 15th. Watch the trailer below.

Get Your First Look At Chris Hemsworth In The Ghostbusters Reboot

February 3, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ghostbusters-2016-pic1-slideWith this summer’s new take on Ghostbusters, they’re not just swapping the gender of the spook fighters, but also of their secretary. Annie Potts who played Janine Melnitz in 1984’s Ghostbusters and its 1989 sequel has morphed into the form of Chris Hemsworth’s Kevin. Now we can get out first look at him in the movie thanks to a new pic.

Annie Potts will still be around though, but like Sigourney Weaver, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Pitts and even Bill Murray she’ll be playing a different character than in the original. It appears the movie takes place in a parallel universe to the original movies, where the busters never existed and no one knows ghosts exists.

Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones will be the women who team up to take on the supernatural – and each of them also gets a new pic too, which you can take a look at below. A trailer is expected very soon (it looks like it might it might arrived to tie in with the Superbowl).

New Zoolander 2 Trailer – Ben Stiller must save the world from a celebrity killer

February 3, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zoolander-2-teaser-slideIn a week and a half we’ll finally get to see the long awaited Zoolander 2, which has been in the works for years but is only just now making it to cinemas. Will it have been worth the wait? A new trailer is here which hopes to convince us it is.

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson back in male model mode, with the duo beginning to realise that they aren’t as young as they once were – something that is pretty much fatal in their profession – and also that the world of fashion has changed from the one they once knew. That includes Benedict Cumberbatch as a model who goes beyond androgynous.

There is a problem though, someone is out killing celebrities including Demi Lovato, Usher, Justin Bieber, Lenny Kravitz, and Miley Cyrus, all of whom have died with one of Derek Zoolander’s signature looks on their face.

Take a look at the new trailer below, and expect the movie in cinemas on February 12th, 2016.

Zach Galifianakis, Seth Rogen & Bill Hader Will Find The Something In A New Comedy Sci-fi

February 3, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zack-galifianakis

Sci-fi comedies don’t have a great track record at the box office, but Zach Galifianakis, Seth Rogen and Bill Hader aren’t going to let that put them off, as THR reports that they’re all set to star in The Something. Unfortunately though there’s not too much info on the movie.

All we know is that it ‘follows a group of male astronauts, who, after being stuck in space for years, come upon another ship.’ The script comes from Rodney Rothman, who also wrote the likes of 22 Jump Street and Grudge Match. He wll also make his directorial debut with the film.

Don’t be surprised if the rather ‘blah’ title changes, but hopefully the talent involved means the script itself is a good one. Universal is backing the movie, which is also a good sign, as Hollywood is usually wary of space-set sci-fi comedies unless they have reason to believe such a potentially pricy project will be worth it.

Me Before You Trailer – Emilia Clarke & Sam Claflin find rom-com love in the Jojo Moyes adaptation

February 3, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

me-before-you-poster-slideLove is not going to run smooth for Emilia Clarke & Sam Claflin in Me Before You, but then it never does in the movies, does it? Based on Jojo Moyes’ best-selling novel, the film will hit UK cinemas this June, so it’ll be a bit of counterprogramming to the slew of mega-budget blockbusters we’re sure to have around that time.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Louisa “Lou” Clark (Clarke) lives in a quaint town in the English countryside.  With no clear direction in her life, the quirky and creative 26-year-old goes from one job to the next in order to help her tight-knit family make ends meet.   Her normally cheery outlook is put to the test, however, when she faces her newest career challenge.  Taking a job at the local “castle,” she becomes caregiver and companion to Will Traynor (Claflin), a wealthy young banker who became wheelchair bound in an accident two years prior, and whose whole world changed dramatically in the blink of an eye.  No longer the adventurous soul he once was, the now cynical Will has all but given up.  That is until Lou determines to show him that life is worth living.  Embarking together on a series of adventures, both Lou and Will get more than they bargained for, and find their lives—and hearts—changing in ways neither one could have imagined.’

Matthew Lewis, Jenna Coleman and Charles Dance also star in the movie. Take a look at the trailer below.

Channing Tatum Gets Golden Age Of Hollywood Gay In Hail, Ceasar! Clips

February 2, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

channing-tatum-hail-caesarBack in the Golden Age Of Hollywood, the Production Code literally meant that you weren’t allowed to mention homosexuality, but filmmakers still found ways to sneak things in. It appears the Coen Brothers are playing with that in their new movie, Hail, Ceasar!, at least if these new clips are anything to go by.

They feature Channing Tatum as movie star Burt Gurney, who’s filming a musical where he has to put up with the fact that at sea, there will be ‘No Dames’. The first clip allows Channing to show off his singing skills, while in the second we get to see that when there are No Dames around, the boys will certainly find things to occupy their time.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Four-time Oscar®-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, True Grit, Fargo) write and direct Hail, Caesar!, an all-star comedy set during the latter years of Hollywood’s Golden Age.  Starring Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansson, Jonah Hill and Frances McDormand, Hail, Caesar! follows a single day in the life of a studio fixer who is presented with plenty of problems to fix.’

The film will be in UK cinemas on March 4th. Take a look at the clips below.

Apropos Of Nothing: Take A Look At A 20-Year-Old Tom Hardy In A Modelling Competition

February 2, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tom-hardy-big-breakfastIf you’re British and in your 30s, you’ll probably remember The Big Breakfast, Channel 4’s anarchic morning show. Well, it turns out that it wasn’t just about general madness and interviewing celebrities on a bed, it was also one of the first screen appearances for a young Tom Hardy.

When he was just a 20-year-old drama student he was a contestant in a modelling competition The Big Breakfast ran, the footage of which has recently been doing the round. He was certainly a good looking young guy, although I’m not sure about the clothes or the ocassional headband.

Indeed I’d take him now rather than then anyday. You can take look at Tom’s modelling days below.

Elizabeth Banks Will Be Getting Villainous In The Power Rangers Movie

February 2, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

elizabeth-banks

The planned Power Rangers movie has taken longer to put together than originally planned, but now its added a famous name to underline that this is going to be a bit higher budget than previous attempts to put the show into movie form. THR reports that Elizabeth Banks is in talks to play the movie’s main villain.

She will be playing a classic Power Ranger character, the alien witch Rita Repulsa. In the original show, Rita had designs on Earth and was continually sending monsters and other creatures that the Power Rangers had to use their powers to sort out – which always started out small but then grew enormous, so the rangers could engage in some mecha action. She was also known for always looking slightly confused about what she was doing, and the fact her mouth never moved in time with her words (due to the fact she was from the original Japanese series that the show was edited from).

Relative newcomers RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott, and Dacre Montgomery are playing the Power Rangers, who will have to fight off Rita’s forces. Project Almanac’s Dean Israelite will direct, with shooting kicking off in the next few months.

Daddyhunt: The Serial – Intergenerational gay love gets its own web series

February 1, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

daddyhunt-the-serialWhile there have been plenty of short films and Youtube videos that have used Grindr as their inspiration, social networking/dating site has decided to get in on the action by making its own gay-themed web series, unsurprisingly called, Daddyhunt: The Serial. You can take a look at it below.

It’s not the most complex of plot, and the title should give you a hint that it’s about a young man out looking for a ‘Daddy’, who find the person who may be the man of his dream, but he may also lose him. It’s sweet although if we’re being honest, not all daddies and sons look like these hotties!

Daddyhunt founder Carl Sandler comments, “After years of stereotypical depictions of intergenerational relationships in TV, porn and movies, it’s increasingly clear that our community would do well to shed these hang-ups. We may well be strong, capable and sexual, but without desirable older role models — without a positive, normal vision of what an older gay man can be, we’re stunted. These stereotypes will persist until we topple them. A few months ago, the Daddyhunt team got the idea to put together a video series to do just that;  show why the modern daddy is so in demand, and what gay dating looks like for men with a little salt in their beards.”

Watch all the episodes below. (And yes, we know it’s essentially advertising, but it’s also fun and a little sexy).
