Hardcore Trailer – Violent action movies go completely first-person

September 14, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hardcore-trailer-slideNormally when a movie tries to make out it’s a once in a generation event, it’s an indication that the film itself will be a bit underwhelming. At least Hardcore genuinely is something a little bit different. Actually forget that, it’s not that different for videogame fans, as this is an entire movie show from a first-person perspective, with visuals that look like they’ve dropped out of an extremely violent game.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘You remember nothing. Mainly because you’ve just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry and congratulations, you’re now a cyborg. 5 minutes later, your wife has been kidnapped and you should probably go get her back. Who’s got her? His name’s Akan (Danila Kozlovsky), he’s just a psychotic megalomaniac with telekinetic powers, and a never-ending army of mercenaries. You’re also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, Russia and everyone wants you dead. Everyone, except for a mysterious British fellow called Jimmy (Sharlto Copley). He might be on your side. Good luck Henry. You’re very much likely to need it…’

The movie looks completely nuts and if you’re squeamish about violence then don’t press play below, but otherwise take a look and see what you thing. [Read more…]

Jennifer Lawrence & Francis Lawrence May Reunite For Red Sparrow

September 14, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jennifer-lawrenceIt seems Jennifer Lawrence must have liked working with director Francis Lawrence on The Hunger Games sequels, as Deadline reports the helmer has signed on direct Red Sparrow, with Lawrence interested enough in starring that it’s now being developed with her in mind.

She’s hasn’t officially signed on but it’s a distinct possibility.

The film is an adaptation of Jason Matthews’ novel, which is set in modern-day Russia. The story follows Dominika Egorova, a spy forced into becoming a ‘sparrow’, who is trained to seduce rival agents. Her first assignment is a CIA operative tasked with handling Russian intelligence, but they soon fall for one another, threatening both their careers and the identities of moles in both the American and Russian governments.

The likes of David Fincher and Darren Aronofsky have previously flirted with directing, but now it’s Lawrence who’s at the helm.

Everlasting Love (Amor Eterno) (DVD Review)

September 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Joan Bentallé, Aimar Vega, Hugo Alejo
Director: Marcal Fores
Running Time: 69 mins
Certificate: 18
Release Date: September 14th 2015 (UK)

A lonely, middle-aged teacher, Carlos, head to a local cruising ground looking for company. While there are both gay and straight people having sex there, he fails to find anyone, until he stumbles across one of his students, Toni. This starts an uneasy affair between the two, although after they have sex, Carlos realises things have gone too far and tries to break it off. However, Toni is continues to pursue Carlos, and the teacher doesn’t resist too much.

There are also strange, dark, potentially violent things going on in the woods amongst Toni friends, and it may be something that Carlos can’t escape either.

Everlasting Love is a movie that some viewers will find pointless and a little infuriating, while others will have the almost polar opposite reaction, being pulled in by its brooding atmosphere, deliberate strangeness and attempts to intrigue. It’s a movie that doesn’t have a huge amount of plot – even though it’s only 67 minutes long, the actual story probably takes up just half of that – but instead tries to build mood and atmosphere. Crush Of The Day: Taylor Kitsch Gets Naked In Vintage Pool Photoshoot

September 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

taylor-kitsch-vintage-slideWhen people talk about pre-fame nude photshoots, they’re normally speaking of rumours (or facts) about young actresses, but there are a fair few male actors who’ve stripped down and shown off the goods before they found success (including Jamie Dornan, Channing Tatum and plenty more).

Now it seems we can add Taylor Kitsch to the list, at least according to former worldwide creative director for Giorgio Armani and senior art director for Gucci Group, Matthias Vriens McGrath. More recently he’s turned photographer, and has decided to release a few images from a photoshoot he did a few years ago via Instagram, which he says are of the John Carter, Battleship and True Detective star.

You can’t actually confirm it’s Taylor 100% from the pics themselves, but we’ll take his word for it and thank him very much for allowing the world to see them – including a shot of little Taylor as glimpsed through the water (although you’ll have to head here for the uncensored shot of that).

Take a look at some very nice butt-shots below. [Read more…]

#NoHomo Episode 2 – Pretending to be gay doesn’t work too well for two straight guys

September 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

nohomo-ep2It seems quite of lot of you liked the first episode of #NoHomo that we posted last week, and now it’s time for Episode 2.

Ep. 1 introduced us to Tyler and Skyler, two straight guys (played by models Christian Plauche & Matthew Egan) who decided that maybe the best way for them to get with women was to get close by pretending to be gay. Now it’s time to properly put the plan into action in Episode 2, with the guys heading for a party in their new, rather stereotypes gay personas. However there’s one girl there who isn’t falling for their ruse, especially when it comes time for them to kiss.

This isn’t the end of the guys’s adventure though, as there are still six more episodes of #NoHomo to come. You can take a look at Episode 2 below. [Read more…]

Crush Of The Day: Charlie Hunnam Gets Shirtless & Sexy For V Man

September 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

charlie-hunnam-v-man1-slideCharlie Hunnam is not a man who’s afraid of taking his shirt off and showing off his honed physique. Indeed at one point he was going to show even more as he was set to play Christian Grey in the movie version of Fifty Shades Of Grey.

However he left before filming began, and he’s now been talking about that to V Man, with a new, sexy photoshoot to go alongside the interview.

Of Fifty Shades, he says, “Oh, it was the worst professional experience of my life. It was the most emotionally destructive and difficult thing that I’ve ever had to deal with professionally. It was heartbreaking… I called her [director Sam Taylor-Johnson] and we both cried our eyes out on the phone for 20 minutes. I needed to tell her that this was not going to work. I was going to finish Sons, shoot the whole sequence where Tara was brutally murdered, fly to Vancouver the next day, have 10 days of rehearsal, and then start shooting. Then I was going to have three days after that and I’d have to start shooting Crimson Peak and then I’d have two days to travel and go back into season seven of Sons. There was a lot of personal stuff going on in my life that left me on real emotional shaky ground and mentally weak. I just got myself so f–king overwhelmed and I was sort of having panic attacks about the whole thing. I just didn’t know what to do.”

However stepping away from Fifty Shades doesn’t seem to have hurt his career, as he’s starring in Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak, and next year takes on the title role in the big budget Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur, as well as The Lost City Of Z.

Take a look at some of the great new pics of Charlie below. [Read more…]

New The Program Trailer – Ben Foster takes on Lance Armstrong in the new biopic

September 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

the-program-ben-foster2Few sport doping scandals have had a bigger impact than Lance Armstrong, largely because his fame was as much due to his inspirational story (surviving testicular cancer and coming back to be a champion) as it was about what he did on a bike. He was also one of the biggest anti-doping spokespeople, before admitting that his career had been extensively aided by banned performance-enhancing subjects.

From the moment he made his confession, various film folk have been planning a biopic, and the first to reach us is The Program, starring Ben Foster.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Academy Award nominated director Stephen Frears (The Queen, Philomena) and producers Working Title Films (The Theory Of Everything, Everest, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), comes the true story of the meteoric rise and fall of one of the most celebrated and controversial men in recent history; Lance Armstrong, the world-renowned Tour de France champion.

‘The world needs heroes and Lance Armstrong was the ultimate sporting hero. Following a gruelling battle with cancer, Lance returned to his cycling career in 1999 more determined than ever and with his sights set firmly on winning the Tour de France. With the help of the infamous Italian physician Michele Ferrari and team director Johan Bruyneel, he developed the most sophisticated doping program in the history of the sport. This program allowed Lance and his American teammates to dominate the world of cycling, winning the Tour an unprecedented seven times.

‘However not everyone believed the fairytale…Sunday Times journalist, David Walsh, at first charmed by Lance’s charisma and talent, soon began to question whether the ‘world’s greatest athlete’ was ‘clean’. Walsh sought to unveil the truth, his ensuing battle with Armstrong risked his own career, ostracised him from the cycling community and cost his paper, The Sunday Times, hundreds of thousands in legal costs. But the indefatigable Walsh eventually uncovered the truth when a select few prepared to talk came forward, exposing one of the greatest deceptions of our time.’

It’ll be in UK cinemas on October 16th. [Read more…]

September 10, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

drown-slideAustralia has a history of making some really good gay-themed film, and Drown looks set to continue that tradition, especially is you like buff guys running around in their speedos. ‘His confused feelings for Phil cause him to react violently but when Phil wins the annual Sydney Lifesaving competition; a competition Len has previously won five times, he finally comes face to face with a fundamental question, will he accept his own identity?
