Apropos Of Nothing: Colin O’Donoghue Gets Shirtless In Christina Perri’s The Words Music Video

February 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

colin-o-donoghue-shirtlessIf there’s one thing the TV show Once Upon A Time is good at, it’s casting hot guys, from Josh Dallas and Jamie Dornan to Sean Maguire and Colin O’Donoghue.

The latter of those has been making people salivate since showing up in The Rite and Storage 24, but despite his general hotness – and the hint of chest hair that got a lot of people excited – he’s generally been very rude and kept his shirt on. However he’s now given us a good look at that chest in the music video for Christina Perri’s The Words.

The song is pretty good but mainly it’s Colin and his slightly lumbersexual antics that kept us interested. And we can only thank the person who decided it was very important of O’Donoghue to take a bath during the promo.

You can take a look at the whole music video below. [Read more…]

Jimmy Fallon Reunites The Saved By The Bell Cast & Takes Them Back To Bayside High

February 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

saved-by-the-bell-reunionIt’s starting to make me feel really old that we’ve already reached the point where we can have nostalgia for the 1990s, but there’s no doubt that it’s good to see the cast of Saved By The Bell reuniting on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, and heading back to Bayside High – complete with colourful 90s outfits – for a fun skit.

Well, most of the cast are there, as there’s the noticeable absence of Dustin Diamond’s Screech. However we presume Diamond would have preferred to be on The Tonight Show than facing charges for felony reckless endangerment and two misdemeanours following an incident at Christmas where he’s alleged to have stabbed someone.

But even without him, it’s good to see Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley, Tiffani Thiessen and even Dennis Haskins’ Mr. Belding. Sadly Lark Voorhies isn’t there either, but other than that it’s a great trip back in time, so take a look below. [Read more…]

First Clip Of Ian McKellen As An Aged Sherlock In Mr. Holmes Is Here

February 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

mr-holmes-ian-mckellanMr. Holmes is certainly an intriguing idea, with Ian McKellen starring as an older Sherlock Holmes just after the Second World War, a long time after Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories about him ended.

Way back last July the first image from the movie was released, but now we’ve got the first clip showing McKellen in action, which you can watch below.

Mr. Holmes is based on Mitch Culin’s novel A Slight Trick Of The Mind. Here’s the synopsis: ‘England in 1947. The famous detective Sherlock Holmes, now 93 years old, lives in his Sussex country house. When he goes to the cinema and sees a film about himself, he mostly shakes his head. For much of what he is purported to have done in the heroic stories has simply been made up. He never wore the legendary hat and, rather than the pipe, he always preferred a cigarette. Long since retired, he steers clear of people and dedicates himself chiefly to bee-keeping. The only people he suffers to be around him are housekeeper Mrs Munro and her small son Roger, whom Holmes is initiating into the secrets of apiculture. But sometimes his thoughts are beset by old cases. What really went on with the mysterious Ann Kelmot, whom he shadowed at her husband’s behest? And what connects him to the Umezaki family, who have invited him to Japan? Holmes undertakes one final big journey, experiences a botanical miracle and resolves to tell a compassionate lie …’

Bill Condon directs. Expect to see in in cinemas later this year. [Read more…]

New Fast & Furious 7 Trailer – Vin Diesel & Paul Walker defy physics

February 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

fast-and-furious-7-pic2When we posted the Fast & Furious 7 Super Bowl spot, we commented that the action had reached the level of absolute fantasy. Indeed some shots looked like they were taking place in The Matrix. Now a new trailer has arrived which backs that up, with plenty more explosions and chases that completely ignore the laws of physics.

It’s all pretty spectacular though.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Continuing the global exploits in the unstoppable franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson lead the returning cast of Fast & Furious 7. James Wan directs this chapter of the hugely successful series that also welcomes back favorites Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky and Lucas Black. They are joined by international action stars new to the franchise including Jason Statham, Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa, Ronda Rousey and Kurt Russell. Neal H. Moritz, Vin Diesel and Michael Fottrell return to produce the film written by Chris Morgan.’

It’s out in the UK April 3rd. [Read more…]

Zachary Quinto & Melissa Leo Up For Oliver Stone’s Edward Snowden Biopic

February 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zachary-quintoOliver Stone is pulling his Edward Snowden biopic together. He’s already got Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the lead role, with Shailene Woodley as his girlfriend and Scott Eastwood also set to star. Now three more people are in talks, according to TheWrap.

Zachary Quinto, Melissa Leo and Tom Wilkinson are all in negotiations for key roles. Quinto will be attorney and journalist Glenn Greenwald, who Snowden entrusted with actually leaking the secret US government documents that caused a firestorm when they were released.

Melissa Leo will play Oscar-nominated documentary director Laura Poitras, who made Citizenfour about Snowden and also reported on the leaked NSA documents when they were first released.

Wilkinson meanwhile will play Guardian intelligence correspondent Ewen MacAskill, who was key in actually getting to documents checked and the information they contained to the public.

Oliver Stone will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Kieran Fitzgerald (The Homesman). It’s believed it will start shooting soon.

First Look Poltergeist Remake Pics Emerge

February 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Poltergeist-2015-pic5While some still aren’t sure whether Poltergeist ought to be remade – as they treat the original as sacrosanct – it’s too late now as the film is in the can and on its way. Now we can take our first look as we’ve got five images from the do-over.

Hopefully we’ll also be posting the trailer later today.

The movie follow Eric and Amy Bowen (Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt), who move into a suburban home with their 8-year-old daughter Madison (Kennedi Clements). As you’d expect, there are some supernatural entities that don’t want them there and end up abducting Madison. Jared Harris plays the supernatural researcher brought in to help.

The film is described as a contemporary update of the original, with producer Sam Raimi commenting, “The original film commented on how we’ve let television get out of control, babysitting our kids. It’s only gotten worse with the handheld portable devices. Screens are everywhere.”

The movie will be out this summer. Take a look at the first pics above and below. [Read more…]

Peter Dinklage Joins Melissa McCarthy In The Comedy Michelle Darnell

February 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

peter-dinklageAfter several seasons of Game Of Thrones intrigue and skulduggery, as well as inventing the Sentinels in X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Peter Dinklage is heading for something a little different as he’s signed up to star in Michelle Darnell, opposite Melissa McCarthy, according to Variety.

McCarthy also co-wrote she script alongside Steve Mallory and her hubby Ben Falcone (who will also direct), which ‘follows a titan of industry who is sent to prison after she’s caught for insider trading. When she emerges ready to rebrand herself as America’s latest sweetheart, not everyone she screwed over is so quick to forgive and forget.’

There are no precise details about Dinklage’s character, but it appears he’ll play the main antagonist. There was a wide variety of stars considered for the role, including Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm and even Oprah Winfrey, but they eventually went with Dinklage after deciding he’d be best to steal his scenes and chew the scenery.

The film will shoot this summer for release April 2016.

BBC Releases First Pic From Upcoming Transgender-Themed Sitcom Boy Meets Girl

February 4, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

boy-meets-girls-tv-showAmazon’s Transparent has gained huge amounts of acclaim since it was first released, but what the transgender-themed show forgot was to have any major characters played by trans* actors. The BBC isn’t going to make that mistake as it’s commissioned Boy Meets Girl, which has just started shooting, and stars trans* actress Rebecca Root in one of the two central roles.

It’s her first major role and a bit of a change of pace, as Root has previously spent much of her time as a voice coach working with other trans* people.

To mark the start of filming the first image has been released, which you can see above.

The show came about after the BBC launched a talent search to create more shows based around trans* people. Boy Meets Girls was created Trans Comedy Award winner Elliott Kerrigan, alongside Simon Carlyle and Andrew Mettam.

As well as Root, the series stars Harry Hepple as the ‘boy’ of the title, as well as the likes of Denise Welch, Janine Duvitski, Nigel Betts, Lizzie Roper and Jonny Dixon.

Boy Meets Girl has been compared to Gavin & Stacey, focussing on the developing relationship between Leo and Judy. However this isn’t a show that’s only about the issue trans* face in the dating world, as there’s also a mini May-December thing going one as Leo is 26 and Judy is 40, along with plenty of other things to negotiate.

BBC Commissioning Editor Kristian Smith comments: “Boy Meets Girl is a heart-warming romantic comedy that draws on the glorious differences that shape all of us. It’s a brilliant thing to be able to support comedy that is not only funny, but can also promote affirming messages of humanity and acceptance.”

The show will premiere on BBC2 in the UK later this year.

Old Dogs & New Tricks Launches Crowfunding Campaign For Fourth & Final Season

February 4, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

old-dogs-crowdfunding-4th-seasonAll good things must come to an end, and it seems that’s true for the popular gay-themed web series Old Dogs & New Tricks. It’s currently planning it’s fourth season, but has also announced that it will be the last.

However there’s a hurdle to overcome before we get to see what happens to the boys in this final season, as it need to get some funding together and so has turned to IndieGogo. While it’s got a modest initial target of $5,000, that will just pay for a mini-movie conclusion, but if it can get up to the $15,000-25,000 mark, we’ll get a full eight to 10 episode season.

“What would ODNT be like without YOU?” show creator/writer & star Leon Acord muses on how bad his show would be without the financial support of his audience, in the campaign’s first funding video. He then shows us, with a short fourth-season spoof episode with bad camerawork, worse lighting, lousy sound, and Acord playing all four dogs. (Look for a favorite special guest star in a cameo!). You can watch that vid below.

“You have to clock web shows’ lives in dog years,” jokes Acord. “In web series, three years is a long-running show. To make it to a fourth season puts us in rarified territory. Very few shows do. Its like the online equivalent to Gunsmoke or the original Dallas!  So if we’re lucky enough to make it that far, I think we need to be grateful and say goodnight.”

ODNT covers the comedic romantic & professional melodramas of four middle-aged gay best friends in youth-obsessed West Hollywood. It stars Acord, Curt Bonnem, Jeffrey Patrick Olson, David Pevsner with Amanda Gari and frequent special guest star Bruce L. Hart as villainous “Nelson Van Eddy.”

The Season 3 finale left many questions hanging:  Has Nathan given up on love?  Is Muscles coming back from Ohio? Will Brad get the gig? Who will Ross choose–that is, if he survives his heart attack?

If you want to see more, head over to IndieGoGo. The final episode(s) should arrive in 2016, and you can take a look at Season 3 here. [Read more…]

Magic Mike XXL Trailer – Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer & co. are back and as sexy as ever

February 4, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

magic-mike-xxl-trailer-stillForget Fifty Shades Of Grey, as for many people the sexy film event of 2015 is Magic Mike XXL. Last night we posted a suggestive poster and now comes the trailer, which ups the ante right from the beginning, where Channing Tatum can’t even do metalwork without making it looking ridiculously sexual (to the point it almost looks silly).

He’s not the only one, as the likes of Matt Bomer, Adam Rodriguez and Joe Manganiello can’t do anything without making it look like they’re virtually dry humping you through the screen.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘”Magic Mike” stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias are reuniting for the hotly anticipated sequel “Magic Mike XXL”. Joining the returning cast, in brand new roles, will be Elizabeth Banks (“The Hunger Games” franchise), Donald Glover (“Community”), Amber Heard (“The Rum Diary”), Andie MacDowell (“Footloose”), Jada Pinkett Smith (“Gotham”) and Michael Strahan (“Live with Kelly and Michael”).

‘The new film will be directed and produced by Emmy Award winner Gregory Jacobs (“Behind the Candelabra”), who served as a producer on “Magic Mike,” as well as numerous features in a long-running collaboration with Steven Soderbergh. “Magic Mike XXL” also reunites “Magic Mike” producers Nick Wechsler, Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin, with a screenplay by Carolin. Steven Soderbergh, who directed the first film, will executive produce.

‘Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, “Magic Mike XXL” finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.’

It’s due out in the US on July 1st and in UK cinemas July 31st. [Read more…]

Tom Selleck Believes Playing Gay Helped End Rumours About His Own Sexuality

February 3, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tom-selleck-kevin-kline-in-and-outIn the olden days, it was always said agents told their clients never to play gay as it would cause rumours about their own sexuality which could effect their career. In fact I was once told by a Hollywood old hand that one of the best ways to tell which actors were gay in real life in the 90s was to look at who had never played a role in film with LGBT characters.

Now Tom Selleck has come along with a story that seems to contradict and yet support that idea at the same time, as he’s been talking to TV Guide about his decision to play a gay reporter in the 1997 movie In & Out, and how it affected rumours that he was gay himself.

Selleck says, “I was playing a closeted gay television reporter and a tabloid had said I was gay just a few years earlier.” As a result many had advised him against playing the role.

However he adds, “I said, ‘I’ve been trying to do ensemble comedy forever and this is one of the best ensembles I’ve ever seen.’ Because I had sued several tabloids for falsely saying I was gay, people were saying I was anti-gay. Playing the role ended both those rumors.”

In & Out stars Kevin Kline as a teacher who is ‘outed’ when a former student says he’s gay while accepting an Oscar. However Kline’s character isn’t actually gay – he just exhibits some stereotypically gay traits – but he has to deal with becoming a five-minute celebrity while negotiating both his own and other’s thoughts about his sexuality. Selleck’s character is perhaps best remembered for planting a kiss on Kevin.

You can take a look at that scene below. [Read more…]

James Franco Talks Being Thanked By The Ex-gay Michael Glatze (With Bonus Zachary Quinto Make-Out Video)

February 3, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zachary-quinto-james-franco-kissJames Franco has had a busy couple of weeks. He’s announced the cast of his adaptation of John Steinbeck’s In Dubious Battle, premiered his starring role in I Am Michael, and as you can see below, he got in a booth at Sundance with Zachary Quinto to have a make-out session.

He also took time while in Park City to talk about how he got an unlikely thank you from Michael Glatze, the man he plays in I Am Michael. It’s perhaps surprising as it chronicles how Glatze went from being a gay activist working to help LGBT youth to becoming an ex-gay poster-boy and married to a woman.

However PinkNews reports Franco as saying, “I haven’t had that many conversations with him [Glatze]… I met him in person for the first time here at the festival. He made a point to come up to me and thank me, and he said he loved the movie. I think it was very healing for him.”

The actor continues, “In a way, we had to show to him we were going to have a very even-handed, non-judgemental approach, but we also had to say to ourselves, ‘We’re not telling this story just to make Michael happy, we’re telling the story to get both sides.’ The best we could do was say to him, ‘We have good intentions. We’re not going to crucify or judge you but we also need to tell the story from the other side as well as the side you’re on now.'”

Indeed, many have expressed frustration at the film for how even-handed it is, with many reviewers seeming annoyed that it doesn’t completely skewer Glatze and vilify him after he turns his back on his gay life, with some even saying this lack of a strong pro or anti viewpoint could limit its success. It’ll be interesting to see how others react as the movie expands beyond Sundance.

Take a look below for Franco and Quinto having a snog. [Read more…]
