Sam Rockwell & Anna Kendrick Teaming Up For Mr. Right

May 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

anna-kendrickSam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick are teaming up for a new comedy, as Deadline reports that they have both have signed on to star in the movie Mr. Right.

The film is about a young woman (Kendrick) who thinks she’s falls for the perfect man (Rockwell). However this is the movies so she soon learns that he is actually a reformed hitman.

After his past comes back to haunt him, their relationship is put to the ultimate test as they try to save one another.

Let’s hope that Max Landis’ screenplay for Mr. Right is better than the similarly premised 2010 Katherine Heigl movie, Killers.

Paco Cabezas (Tokarev) is set to direct., with shooting pencilled in for sometime this sutumn.

The Railway Man (Blu-ray)

May 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Colin Firth, Jeremy Irvine, Nicole Kidman, Hiroyuki Sanada, Stellan Skarsgard
Director: Jonathan Teplitzky
Running Time: 116 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: May 5th 2014 (UK)

There is undoubtedly an incredible true story behind The Railway Man, but while this movie certainly lets you know that, as a film in its own right it’s rather spotty.

The movie follows two periods in the life of Eric Lomax. As a middle-aged man (Colin Firth) he meets and falls in love with Patti (Nicole Kidman), however their marital bliss is severely hampered by the fact he suffers severely from what would now be called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Hawaii Trailer – The latest gay-themed movie from Marco Berger, the director of Absent & Plan B

May 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Argentinian director Marco Berger has made waved in the LGBT cinema world with Plan B, the Berlin Teddy award-winning Absent and the sexy short film collection Sexual Tension: Volatile.

Now he’s coming back with Hawaii, which continues his looks at being gay (or at least gay-adjacent) in the modern world.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Sexual tension spills off the screen in this sweaty, titilating bromance from award-winning director Marco Berger (Absent, Plan B, Sexual Tension: Volatile). Hawaii follows Martin and Eugenio (Manuel Vignau and Mateo Chiarino), two former childhood friends who reunite during a hot summer in the Argentinean countryside. As they work together to restore Eugenio’s summer home, a game of power and desire ensues — forcing the two buddies to grapple with their sexual attraction and reconsider their relationship. With gorgeous cinematography, a lush setting and compelling lead performances, Hawaii is an intimate character study that pushes past social boundaries.’

Hawaii should be out later this year via TLA. [Read more…]

Errodity(s) Teaser Trailer – Things get odd and a pretty sexy in the collection of gay short films

May 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s often difficult to convince someone they need to watch, when you’ve only got 30 seconds to do it.

However, Errodity(s) manages it by telling us absolutely nothing about the short film collection, but it includes plenty of shots of half-dressed guys getting naughty with one another and hints that it’s all a little bit strange. And sometimes theat’s enough.

It’s described as being, ‘”A little bit odd… highly erotic.” In this collection of short, sexy tales, the lives of young men take unexpected turns when they encounter the strange and the supernatural.’

Errodity(s) certainly wins today’s award for being intriguing.

It’s not clear when exactly we’ll get to see it, but it should be coming fairly soon from TLA Releasing.

Take a look at the rather NSFW trailer above. [Read more…]

Apropos Of Nothing: Fruit Of The Loom Show Off Their Underwear With Hunky Ball Boys In A New Ad

May 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Once upon a time Fruit Of The Loom clothing was quite cool – for about five minutes – but since then it’s generally seen as being okay for background wardrobe but is otherwise rather naff.

However now they seem to be going for the gay vote (and anyone else who appreciates buff blokes), by making an add that’s mainly about ball boys running around in just their undies.

Sure there’s some fluff about this allowing us to see how the boxer briefs don’t ride up, but who are they kidding?

It’s also a good advert for how sports could improve gay and female viewership. I might even tune in if there was a chance of seeing something like this.

Bryan Singer Hit With New Sex Abuse Lawsuit From A Brit

May 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Bryan-SingerAs many had expected after Michael F. Egan sued Bryan Singer claiming sex abuse (and as his lawyer promised), other accusers have emerged – whether they have valid claims or not. Now a new suit has been filed against the X-Men director, this time from a British man who also names writer/producer Gary Goddard.

THR reports that Goddard first got to know the accuser via social media in 2003 when he was 14. That resulted in nude webcam sessions when he was 15. The young man then alleges that when they were 15 they they lay in bed naked together in a London hotel room, and they had sex when he was 16.

Singer is brought into the suit as it’s alleged that he ‘had sex with the plaintiff at a Superman after afterparty in a London hotel room when the plaintiff was 17… The boy resisted, the suit continues, but Goddard brought in a “large, musclebound man” who smacked the teenager around, holding him while Singer grabbed him and Goddard, naked on the bed, watched. Singer then allegedly attempted to rape the plaintiff.’

Both Goddard and Singer have strenuously denied the claim. Singer’s lawyer issued a statement saying, ‘After the substance of (attorney Jeff Herman’s) previous defamatory and fabricated filing in Hawaii was disproved based on unassailable evidence, Mr. Herman’s desperation has led him to fabricate these new anonymous accusations against Mr. Singer, which we will also prove to be completely false.’

Goddard’s lawyer meanwhile adds, ‘It is a sad indictment on society that when once spurious claims making false, serious and highly damaging allegations have been made – especially where compensation is sought – that other similar claims may follow. The allegations made against Mr. Goddard are vehemently denied and will be vigorously defended at any trial of these matters and Mr. Goddard is entirely confident that he will be fully vindicated.’

There is an oddity surrounding the suit though, as while all the events took place in the UK, it’s being filed in California. Part of the reason is that it would be impossible to prosecute most of the consensual acts in the UK, as the age of consent is 16 in Britain. However the lawsuit alleges that ‘the California age of consent, 18, should apply because Singer and Goddard allegedly formulated their sexual plans regarding the teen while in California. In addition, the federal age, also 18, assertedly applies to travel from the U.S. for sexual purposes.’

It’s also true that the lawsuit seeks only a monetary award, while in the UK it’s difficult to launch a civil case that doesn’t involve criminal charges having been filed in any way (where both in Britain and the US, the burden of proof is much higher).

James McAvoy & Michael Fassbender Take A Look At The Internet’s Love Of Putting Their X-Men Characters Together In Gay Fan Art

May 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

James McAvoy & Michael Fassbender gained a lot of fans as Professor X and Magneto in X-Men: First Class. However a lot of the internet isn’t satisfied with them purely ending up as frenemies – they want them to be banging one another on the side.

That has resulted in a lot of slash-fiction and homemade gay fan art.

However, what does it feel like to have stranger drawing pictures of you getting up close and person with your co-star? Well, Graham Norton decided to find out when he had McAvoy and Fassbender (and Hugh Jackman) on his chat show to promote the upcoming X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

You can see what they thought above (and as so often with Norton’s show, it does seem to help that the guests are allowed to have a few drinks).

It has to be said though, compared to the pictures some people have drawn, the images they’re shown are a little tame. But what did you expect, this is mainstream UK TV after all?

James Franco Went To Bed With Keegan Allen To Blow Up Twitter With Their Recent Bed Selfie Pic

May 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

james-franco-keegan-allenA couple of weeks ago the world of social media got very excited with a selfie James Franco posted of him in bed with Pretty Little Liars actor Keegan Allen.

Franco certainly wanted a reaction, as he posted alongside the pic, “BED SELFIE WITH KEEGAN ALLEN!!!!! TIME TO GO NUTS!!!!”

However everyone knows what Franco is like so few people thought this was really documenting his and Allen’s life of cosy snuggling (if it was, the real question would have been who was the third person taking the pic!).

Now Allen has been talking to E!Online and explained exactly what happened.

He says, “I went to go say hey to him in his dressing room. There were a lot of people there and I asked him, ‘What’s the way to do the best selfie in bed?’ and he showed me. And then he climbed in really quickly and he was like, ‘Let’s blow up Twitter for a second.’”

BTW, the dressing room is Franco’s one for his new production of Of Mice And Men, which recently opened on Broadway.

Andrew Garfield & Chris Martin Kiss With A Bit Of Tongue

May 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It turns out Andrew Garfield isn’t that good at kissing Emma Stone. It’s the climactic scene of Spider-man 2 and the audience needs to buy the romance! Unfortunately Andrew just can’t get it right.

So what do you do?

Well, according to Saturday Night Live, you call in Chris Martin and get him to kiss Garfield instead – although he’ll need a blonde wig of course. Chris certainly seems to be into it, telling Spidey, “Why don’t you go ahead and show me that beautiful little tongue.”

I’m sure psychologists will be picking this apart for years – after all, Chris is almost dressing up as his soon-to-be ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, so he can play a superhero love interest, just as Gwyn does in Iron Man. But hey, I’m sure I’m just reading way, way, way too much into this.

Club King Trailer – Looking at legendary NYC/LA gay club promoter Mario Diaz

May 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

On May 8th Club King premieres at the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, and so it’s a great time to take a look at the trailer.

The film is ‘An independent documentary about legendary NY and LA club promoter/actor/MC/stylist/dancer/producer Mario Diaz and his fabulous friends.’

And as the trailer shows, Diaz certainly knows how to surround himself with glitz and go-go-boys!

As for how he got into the business, Diaz tells Out, “When I was in high school and I was young and I knew I was going to end up in New York City one day, I remember thinking, ‘Wow!’ That’s what it’s like to really be gay and be in the gay city. And you know these underground clubs and this freedom of sexuality—it just seemed so exciting and cool and I wanted to be part of it.” [Read more…]

The Case Against 8 Trailer – The award-winning documentary about overturning the gay marriage ban in California

May 4, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

This summer HBO is making a big play for LGBT kudos with The Normal Heart and The Case Against 8. The latter has already received plenty of praise, including winning the Best Documentary Direction prize at Sundance.

It’s film festival success has ensured it will get a limited cinemas release in the US on June 6th, before it debuts on HBO on June 23rd. Ahead of that comes the trailer.

The film goes deep inside the court cases that sought to overturn California’s ban on same-sex marriage after the ballot measure Proposition 8 was enacted – where voters overturned a law allowing gay people to marry and attempted to enshrine opposite sex marriage in the State’s constitution. The film follows the unlikely team that took the first federal marriage equality lawsuit to the US Supreme Court, which eventually resulted in equal marriage returning to California.

The film is directed by Ben Cotner and Ryan White. [Read more…]
