BGPS’s Advent Calendar Of Buff Blokes: Day 23 – Chris & Liam Hemsworth

December 23, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It seems the sensationally sexy Hemsworth brothers are taking it in turn as to who’ll be the most famous. Chris started out first, taking a role in Home & Away from 2004-2007. Then younger bro Liam popped up in Neighbours before getting a Hollywood break in 2009 with Knowing opposite. The following year he appeared in The Last Song, which led to a high profile relationship with Miley Cyrus.

After that though, Liam seemed to be stalling, which allowed Chris to hit back with a role in Star Trek. He then got a huge break playing the title role in Thor. However it’s 2012 that’ll be the real test of which brother is gonna be the biggest star, as Liam has The Hunger Games and The Expendables 2, while Chris will star in Cabin In The Woods, Red Dawn, Snow White And The Huntsman and a little movie called The Avengers.

To help you decide whether you think 28-year-old Chris or 21-year-old Liam deserves to be higher up the a-list, I’ve put together an advent calendar gallery of the brothers looking as fine as they can be. After all, nothing says Christmas more than hot guys. For my part, I reckon Liam wins on looks, but Chris is probably the better all round package. [Read more…]

New Hunger Games Poster Is A Puzzle

December 16, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Yesterday Lionsgate released tiny puzzle-piece bits of a new Hunger Games poster to various different websites for industrious fans to play with. It appears someone under the Twitter handle johnshoward was the first to gather all the bits together and put them together, and the result is the rather cool image above!

Here’s the official synopsis: ‘Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains.

‘Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.’ The Hunger Games hits cinemas on March 23rd.

Simon Beaufoy Wanted To Write Hunger Games Sequel

November 17, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

With it looking more and more likely that Lionsgate’s adaptation of The Hunger Games will be a huge success, the studio is already getting keen that the planned sequel happens as soon as possible. So while Hunger Games won’t hit theaters until March 23, they want the script for Catching Fire started well before then and Deadline reports they’re seeking Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours’ Simon Beaufoy to write it.

The original plan was to have Hunger Games director Gary Ross team up with author Suzanne Collins to write the sequel, since they wrote most of The Hunger Games’ script. However, a tight post-production schedule means Ross doesn’t have time to work on the Catching Fire script is there’s any hope of keeping to the schedules Lionsgate wants.

Apparently Beaufoy and Lionsgate have not entered into discussions yet, but the studio is reportedly very high on getting Simon Beaufoy. Back in August Lionsgate set a November 22, 2013 release date for Catching Fire, so the clock is already ticking.

The Hunger Games Trailer

November 14, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

They’re certainly hyping up The Hunger Games, in the hopes it will take over from Twilight as the top young adult franchise around. Now the first full trailer for the movie has arrives, which certainly make the movie look intriguing and that it may hold interest for those a little older than the target audience. Jennifer Lawrence i heads a cast that also includes Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks and Stanley Tucci, to tell the tale of a future society where the US has broken down into separate factions, and the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in The Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which ‘Tributes’ must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence), is representing District 12, replacing her chosen younger sister. The film arrives in cinemas March 23rd, 2012.

Jake Abel Joins The Host

November 9, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Jake Abel is probably feeling slightly relieved that people always just look at him and see a villain, as having played bad guys in both Percy Jackson and I Am Number Four, he’s just landed a slightly different type of role in The Host, the planned adaptation of Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s novel.

Abel is is talks to play Ian, according to Deadline, one of the last remaining humans whose brain hasn’t been co-opted by the invasive alien ‘souls’, that are taking people over one by one. Saoirse Ronan is set to play the central character, Melanie Stryder, who has a soul named Wanderer implanted in her mind. However while normally Melanie’s personality would be expected to fade into the background, her emotions and memories overwhelm the invader and makes it change its mind about its races master plan.

Director Andrew Niccol is now down to the last few finalists for the other main male role of Luke, with Liam Hemsworth, Max Irons, Kit Harington and Jai Courtney on the shortlist. Expect to hear who got the part soon.

Joel Kinnaman Gets The Lead In Arthur & Lancelot

October 30, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

The TV show The Killing seems to be a breeding ground for stars, with Mireille Enos is the upcoming Gangster Squad and World War Z, and now THR reports her Swedish co-star Joel Kinnaman landing one of the main leads in Warner Bros’ Arthur & Lancelot.

The film will be based on David Dobkin’s spec screenplay (he’ll also direct), which as the name suggests is a reimagining of the King Arthur and Sir Lancelot stories. It’s likely we’ll see a friends become enemies tale with them falling out over Guinevere.

Casting is still ongoing for the King Arthur role, with actors such as Kit Harington, Sam Claflin, Dominic Cooper, Hans Matheson, Jim Sturgess, Benjamin Walker, and Liam Hemsworth all in contention. It isn’t certain when the $90 million movie will shoot, but it’s already got a March 2013 release date set.

Hunger Games Character Posters Revealed

October 28, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

It’s only a few months now until The Hunger Games hits cinemas (March 23rd, 2012), which Lionsgate is certainly hoping will be the new Twilight, as they’ve been hyping it up to the max. The latest part of that campaign is the release of eight character posters featuring Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Haymitch (Woody Harrelson), Effie (Elizabeth Banks), Cinna (Lenny Kravitz), Rue (Amandla Stenberg), and Cato (Alexander Ludwig).

If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.’
