Before We Go Trailer – Romance sparks between Chris Evans & Alice Eve

July 20, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Before-We-Go-slideIt is an odd thing but when actors are playing superheroes they often don’t have vast amounts of success outside that franchise. It’s true of Chris Evans, who’s massively popular as Captain America, but his other films haven’t made much of an impact on the box office (his recent Playing It Cool didn’t even get a UK cinema release).

It’s a shame as he certainly has charm on screen.

Before We Go may not be likely to make mountains of cash, but it does look like it may be a rather charming romance with Evans starring alongside Alice Eve. And it will also act as a showcase for Evans directorial skills, as it’s his debut behind the camera.

Chris plays a man who helps out after Eve’s purse is stolen, which ‘sparks a life-changing, nighttime sojourn through New York City.’

Before We Go will be on VOD in the US from July 21st and in cinemas September 4th. No UK date is currently set. [Read more…]

Star Trek Actress Alice Eve Criticised For Suggesting Bruce Jenner Is ‘Playing At Being A Woman’

April 28, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Alice-EveTodays edition of celebrities saying immensely dumb and offensive things while thinking they’re being provocative, features Star Trek and She’s Out Of My League actress Alice Eve.

She decided that denigrating Bruce Jenner’s gender transition would be a good way to highlight women’s rights issues by taking to Instagram to say, “If you [Jenner] were a woman no one would have heard of you because women can’t compete in the decathlon. Where to order Cialis Italia at https://www.collegiomarino.it/top.html cheapest tadalafil pills no prescription in Italy. You would be a frustrated young athlete who wasn’t given a chance.

“Until women are paid the same as men, then playing at being a ‘woman’ while retaining the benefits of being a man is unfair. Do you have a vagina? Are you paid less than men? Then, my friend, you are a woman.”

It’s an immensely stupid thing to say, as while Jenner is in a somewhat unique position, he still faced an extremely uncertain reaction by going public. It also ignores that many transgender people face a far worse work situation and pay gap than between sis men and women. They also face a far higher risk of violence, murder and open discrimination.

Eve’s post was taken down after a firestorm of criticism from her followers, with Alice quickly backing down and trying to suggest that she was too quick to post and that it should now be a learning moment.

She went on to say that, “I do agree that the struggle for transgenders is unique and horrific. However, I do want to also support a cause I strongly believe in, the right for women to have equal rights to men… The transgender equality struggle is the next one, as we all know. And very real it is, too.”

Those posts were also removed after a lot more criticism. After all, she was essentially suggesting that women’s rights are superior to those of transgender people, while still managing to make it sound that mtf transgender people can’t be women, and that you can’t support both womens rights and transgender rights simultaneously.

She then had another go, saying, “I’m not saying by identifying they are negatively impacting feminism, I am saying that we have to refine the language on this topic so all men, women and transgenders are accurately represented in their process of self-identification.”

Whatever that is supposed to mean.

She then added, “Maybe this needs a little thought. Thank you for engaging with me on this subject, because I felt confused and now I feel enlightened and like I know what education I need to move forward.”

It’s one of those situations where someone probably wasn’t speaking out of deliberate malice, but simply had no idea what they’re talking about and ended up saying something intensely stupid and offensive. Indeed she, like many of Jenner’s detractors, may have been unable get past the Kardashian connection and therefore thinks of Bruce’s statements as being some kind of publicity stunt, without even considering what he was actually saying, and that despite the reality shows, he’s still a real, living human being.

(And just in case anyone isn’t aware, Jenner has asked that for the time being he is still referred to publicly as Bruce and that male pronouns should be used).

Peter Weller Joins Star Trek 2

December 5, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

While JJ Abrams is still trying to keep things secret on the plot front for Star Trek 2, new cast members are gradually being announced, even if we don’t know who’ll they’ll be playing. The latest addition is Robocop himself, Peter Weller, who Variety reports has joined the movie.

There’s absolutely no clue who he’ll play though. He joins Alice Eve and Benicio Del Toro (although his deal is still to be closed) in mystery new roles in the sci-fi sequel. Rumours have been sweeping around that Del Toro would be playing Khan. While Abrams has said very little about the movie, he has however stepped out to publicly deny that Khan is in the movie.

Shooting is due to start on the movie in January, for release summer 2013.

Alice Eve Added To Star Trek 2

December 1, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Things are finally moving on apace with Star Trek 2, and the latest news, via Variety, is that actress Alice Eve is in talks to join the cast for director J.J. Abrams and Paramount Pictures. The She’s Out Of My League actress doesn’t have a deal set yet, although it is expected to be finalised very soon. Teresa Palmer and Hayley Atwell also apparently tested for the role.

This being JJ Abrams, no details have been released regarding who Alice Eve may play, but it is said to be a brand new character in the Star Trek universe. Earlier this month Benicio Del Toro was offered the villain role in this sci-fi sequel, although again it’s not known what character he’ll play. It now seems the actor has accepted the offer, although a deal is still pending.

Filming is scheduled to start January 15.
