My Friend Dahmer (Cinema Review) – The infamous gay serial killer as a teen

Director: Marc Meyers
Running Time: 107 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: June 1st 2018

Often I like to watch films that I know nothing about besides the title so that it doesn’t taint my viewing experience, but having seen this movie I feel that having prior knowledge of the protagonist’s horrific crimes would have enabled me to have gotten more out of this film.

Having grown up in England and not having an interest in serial killers, I had never really heard of Jeffrey Dahmer and the 17 men and boys he murdered between 1978 and 1991. I read his Wikipedia page after seeing this movie and it shed a lot of light upon things that were hinted at, both subtly and explicitly, throughout the film. [Read more…]

Milo Ventimiglia, Stanley Tucci & Anne Heche Feel The Heat

April 12, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

milo-ventimigliaIf you said to most people that they’re remaking Heat, they’d think of the 1995 De Niro and Pacino starrer directed by Michael Mann, but the one that’s being planned is a do-over of a 1986 Burt Reynolds with the same name.

Jason Statham’s already signed on, with Deadline reporting that he’s now been joined by Stanley Tucci, Anne Heche, Cedric The Entertainer, Hope Davis and Milo Ventimiglia. Sophia Vergara, Michael Angarano, and Dominik Garcia-Lorido have previously signed up.

The original Heat starred Burt Reynolds as an enforcer who takes on protection jobs to support his burgeoning gambling addiction. The plot thickens when his friend is badly beaten by the mob, and he vows to take on the mafia organisation.

William Goldman, who wrote the novel and the screenplay adaptation for the original thriller, is on board to pen the remake, with Simon West directing.

Rufus Sewell And Anne Heche Join The Occult

March 5, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Rufus Sewell had planned to be in Australia now shooting Paradise Lost, but with that movie pretty much cancelled, he’s now got some free time, and so Variety reports he’s teaming up with Anne Heche and newcomer Alycia Debnam-Carey for Christian E. Christiansen’s (The Roommate) The Occult.

The films is about the members of a commune, who believe that an age-old prophecy about the devil’s daughter coming to Earth is about to come true. When a series of murders happens just as this is about to happen, the community isn’t sure if it is the work of this prophecy, or someone silencing their own members from within.

Shooting is scheduled to begin later this month in North Carolina.

Anne Heche Joins Arthur Newman, Golf Pro

October 22, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Anne Heche may still have a reputation for being slightly insane, but she seems to have calmed down a lot since the post-Ellen Degeneres split-up period. Indeed with roles in the likes of Cedar Rapids, Rampart, That’s What She Said and TV’s Hung, she’s been in the spotlight more than she has at any time since the late 90s.

Now she’s got another role, as Variety reports she’s set to join Colin Firth and Emily Blunt in the dark comedy, Arthur Newman, Golf Pro. Firth stars as a man who hates his job and is despised by his family. Feeling he missed his shot at living the dream, he decides to fake his own death and create a new identity. He meets a young woman (Emily Blunt) with her own troubled past, and the duo start breaking into empty homes to pose as the absent owners. Heche will play Colin Firth’s girlfriend, who treats him terribly.

Arthur Newman, Golf Pro will begin production this month in North Carolina, with commercials helmer Dante Ariola directing from a script by Becky Johnston.
