New Amazing Spider-man 2 Pic Takes Us Inside Oscorp With Dane DeHaan and Andrew Garfield

August 5, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

amazing-spider-man-2-preview-pic8Dane DeHaan joins the Amazing Spider-man family in the second adventure for Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker. He’s gonna be Harry Osborn (previously played by James Franco in Sam Raimi’s films), who’s the son of mega-rich genius Norman Osborn.

DeHaan himself tweeted a new pic from the movie, showing him and Andrew Garfield in a boardroom at Oscorp, along with the message, ‘Breakin’ it down #Osborn style… Yo.’

Little info has been given about how Harry Osborn fits into The Amazing Spider-man world, although most of the speculation has suggested that Amazing Spider-man 2 will set him up for a larger role in the planned third and fourth films in the series. The presumption is that in one of those films he’ll become the Green Goblin (although we don’t know if, as in the comics, he’ll be following in his father’s footsteps as the infamous villain). At the moment though it’s all largely speculation.

The Amazing Spider-man 2 is out May 2nd 2014.

New Kill Your Darlings Trailer – Daniel Radcliffe is very impressed by Dane Dehaan

August 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Many times with films that have gay themes (and which are looking for a mainstream audience), there’s a tendency to shy away from suggesting there’s anything LGBT about the movie in the trailer. However even in this new 30-second promo for Kill Your Darlings they’re not hiding the fact Daniel Radcliffe’s character is rather impressed by Dane DeHaan.

However if you were hoping for the gay sex scene that got everyone talking at Sundance, you’re gonna have to look elsewhere.

Kill Your Darlings charts how a murder helped shape the lives of a group of young men who went on to become the beat generation. Chronicle star DeHaan plays Lucien Carr, the man who introduced Howl writer Allen Ginsberg (Daniel Radcliffe) to the likes of William S. Burroughs (Ben Foster) and Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston).

During these early, hedonistic days, a man called David Kammerer (Michael C. Hall) fell for Carr, with his infatuation becoming increasingly obsessive and unhinged – the gay Ginsberg once discovered Kammerer trying to murder Jack Kerouac’s cat. It eventually resulted in Carr stabbing Kammerer to death him and going to prison for his murder. The violent event is said to have indelibly changed all the people involved and etched its way into the published works of the Beat writers.

The film is due out October 18th in the US and November 8th in the UK. [Read more…]

New Amazing Spider-man 2 Pics Reveal More Of Electro & Rhino

July 12, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

amazing-spider-man-2-preview-pic1
Yesterday we got our first official look at Amazing Spider-man 2 villain Electro with the new cover of EW, and now a load more images have been released from inside the mag’s Comic-Con 2013 preview issue.

They give us a better look at the creepy Electro, as well as Paul Giamatti’s Rhino’s, along with Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker, Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn, and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.

It’s all looking pretty cool as Spider deals with his rising public profile as well as his promise to Gwen’s father to stay away from her – a promise he can’t keep – although hints at where the film series is going suggest that he ought to.

The Amazing Spider-man 2 hits cinemas May 2nd 2014. Click on the pics below for larger versions.

The film had a critically-acclaimed debut at the Toronto Film Festival and will reach the US in March, and should be released in the UK on April 12th.

The movie tells the story of Luke (Gosling), a professional motorcycle rider who turns to bank robberies to support his newborn son. However, when he crosses paths with a rookie police officer (Bradley Cooper), their violent confrontation spirals into a tense generational feud. Rose Byrne, Eva Mendes, Ray Liotta and Dane DeHaan also star.

Daniel Radcliffe Talks About His Gay Sex Scenes In Kill Your Darlings

January 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kill-your-darlings-daniel-radcliffe-dane-dehaanDaniel Radcliffe is in Utah for the premiere of Kill Your Darlings at the Sundance Film Festival, in which he plays gay poet Allan Ginsberg. TheImproper was at last night’s screening and managed to catch what the former Harry Potter had to say about his gay sex scenes in the film, which includes ‘oral sex, making out and getting naked for sex, all with men.’

“It was something new,” Radcliffe said. “But you know what, we shot that whole scene in maybe an hour and a half so it was incredibly fast-paced. I didn’t really have time to stop to think and worry about it.”

He also thinks getting to know his scene-mate helped. “We were able to hang out a little bit on set and get to know each other a little bit, which I think is important when you’re doing a scene so intimate. “You have to feel like you’re both in it together.”

The movie charts how a murder helped shape the lives of a group of young men who went on to become the beat generation. Chronicle star DeHaan plays Lucien Carr, the man who introduced Howl writer Allen Ginsberg to the likes of William S. Burroughs (Ben Foster) and Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston). Indeed, Ginsberg later said that “Lou was the glue” that brought the beat poets and writers together.

During these early, hedonistic days, a man called David Kammerer (Michael C. Hall) fell for Carr, with his infatuation becoming increasingly obsessive and unhinged – Ginsberg once discovered Kammerer trying to murder Jack Kerouac’s cat. It eventually resulted in Carr stabbing Kammerer to death him and going to prison for his murder. The violent event is said to have indelibly changed all the people involved and etched its way into the published works of the Beat writers.

Although Carr said the killing took place after he rejected Kammerer’s sexual advances and was assaulted as a result, many have suggested that Lucien wasn’t as heterosexual as he made out, and that he and Ginsberg had been lovers. The full truth of what happened may never be known. Whatever happened, it was a pivotal moment for Ginsberg, who had been exceptionally close to Carr whether they’d been lovers or not.

The film is said to look at all this, with many giving it good notices from its Sundance premiere.

Dane Dehaan Goes Metallica Through the Never

January 16, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

dane-dehaan2Picturehouse was founded in 2005 in the US as a full-service independent film marketing and distribution company. However after having less success than hoped it pretty much shut down, but now it’s reopening its doors and has announced that his first new release will be Metallica Through the Never, a feature film starring members of the iconic rock band and Dane DeHaan (Chronicle, The Amazing Spider-Man 2).

DeHaan plays a young band crew member who is sent out on an urgent mission while the band is playing a rousing live set in front of a sold-out crowd and unexpectedly finds his world turned completely upside down. The film, written and directed by Nimród Antal (Kontroll, Predators), is due in US theaters August 9.

One of the bestselling rock acts of all time, Metallica has sold over 105 million albums worldwide. Metallica drummer and founding member Lars Ulrich also had this to say, “Metallica’s way of doing things is to jump into unexplored creative endeavors with no safety net whatsoever. Putting this movie together for the last couple of years has been a pretty wild ride, and we’ve definitely done our share of flying without a net! Bringing Bob and Jeanne and the new Picturehouse team in at this point provides us with a much needed level of security for the distribution of the film. Their spirit of independence and desire to work outside the box is something we can relate to in every way, and this makes them both a welcome addition and a natural fit in the Metallica family.”

The plan is to release Picturehouse films to Netflix exclusively in the United States shortly after their theatrical release. Picturehouse has also secured a first look relationship with Warner Bros. Pictures International for films to which it has international distribution rights, so it may be through them we get to see the movie in the UK.

The Place Beyond The Pines Trailer – Ryan Gosling turns to crime to raise his kid

Now the trailer for the movie has arrived, which to be honest make the film look more like Drive than Blue Valentine, taking a genre pic in an unusual direction. The movie premiered recently at the Toronto International Film Festival to good although not rapturous reviews.

It arrives in the UK on April 12th. Take a look at the trailer below [Read more…]

First Pic Of Daniel Radcliffe & Dane Dehaan In Kill Your Darlings

December 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kill-your-darlings-daniel-radcliffe-dane-dehaanA few months ago we got a few set pics of Daniel Radcliffe playing gay poet Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings. Now we’ve got the first official pic, showing Radcliffe along Dane DeHaan, Jack Huston and Ben Foster (at least we think that’s who is on the left).

The movies charts how a murder helped shape the lives of a group of young men who went on to become the beat generation. Chronicle star DeHaan plays Lucien Carr, the man who introduced Howl writer Allen Ginsberg to the likes of William S. Burroughs (Foster) and Jack Kerouac (Huston). Although Carr said the killing took place after he rejected Kammerer’s sexual advances and was assaulted as a result, many have suggested that Lucien wasn’t as heterosexual as he made out, and that he and Ginsberg had been lovers (something the earlier set pics suggest will also include). The full truth of what happened may never be known. Whatever happened, it was a pivotal moment for Ginsberg, who had been exceptionally close to Carr whether they’d been lovers or not.

The film premieres in January at Sundance and should hit cinemas in 2013.

Dane DeHaan Confirmed As Harry Osborn In Amazing Spider-Man 2

December 4, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A couple of weeks ago, Chronicle star Dane DeHaan was at the top of a list of young actors testing for the role of Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-man 2. Director Marc Webb has confirmed that DeHaan has landed the role on Twitter, saying ‘Meet Harry Osborn. @danedehaan. pic.twitter.com/oi4Ql6nQ‘

DeHaan beat out a lot of talented people for the role, including Brady Corbet, Alden Ehrenreich, Sam Claflin, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, and Boyd Holbrook. However Dane’s got the role, playing the son of Oscorp owner Norman Osborn. In the comics he’s Peter Parker’s best friend (although we don’t know exactly how he’ll be fitting into Amazing Spider-man 2). Of course the role was played by James Franco in Sam Raimi’s trilogy.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are reprising their roles as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. Marc Webb is directing from a screenplay by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Jeff Pinkner, with the shoot planned for early next year.

Dane DeHaan, Brady Corbet Or Alden Ehrenreich May Be Harry Osborn In Amazing Spider-man 2

November 15, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The news came in a couple of days ago that Sony is planning to start shooting The Amazing Spider-man 2 early next year and so director Marc Webb needs to get new cast members lined up as quickly as he can. It’s long been rumoured that Harry Osborn would show up in the second movie, and now that’s been confirmed with THR reporting that actors such as Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Brady Corbet (Melancholia), and Alden Ehrenreich (Beautiful Creatures) are trying out for the part later this week.

The role was apparently originally crafted for a bulkier, more athletic looking actor, but now it’s being revamped to have a more “dark and edgy” feel. In this take on the Spider-man legend Osborn will be a college kid who becomes friends with Peter Parker. Of course Osborn is the son of Norman Osborn (aka Green Goblin), but it’s not known if pops will show up in this movie.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are returning as Peter and Gwen Stacy, with Oscar nominee Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) confirmed to play Mary Jane Watson. Jamie Foxx has also been rumoured to play the villain Electro.
