Fleming Trailer – Dominic Cooper takes on the creator of James Bond

Over the years there’s been much talk about making a movie about James Bond creator Ian Fleming, who had a rather interesting life beyond writing about 007, however it’s TV that’s come through, with BBC America and Sky Atlantic making the mini-series Fleming, which stars Dominic Cooper in the title role.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Starring DOMINIC COOPER (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Devil’s Double) with LARA PULVER (True Blood, Sherlock), ANNABELLE WALLIS (Hello Carter, The Tudors), LESLEY MANVILLE (Maleficent, Another Year), ANNA CHANCELLOR (The Hour, How I Live Now) and SAMUEL WEST (Mr Selfridge, Hyde Park on Hudson). FLEMING: THE MAN WHO WOULD BE BOND takes a no holds barred look at Ian Fleming, the man behind the James Bond legend whose real life was as exciting, eventful and sexually charged as his famous creation.’

His father was in the government and during WWII he worked for Naval Intelligence, helping with secret plan to misinform the enemy as well as to steal their secrets, as well as setting up a special Commando Unit specialising in subterfuge. Ben Foster, Toby Kebbel & Dominic Cooper Join Warcraft

ben-fosterWith the shoot starting early next year, Legendary Pictures is busy filling out the cast of Warcraft, and they’ve now announced that they have closed deals with Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Robert Kazinsky, Travis Fimmel and Paula Patton to star.

Other actors such as Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, Anson Mount and Anton Yelchin have previously been mentioned for unspecified roles, although their involvement isn’t known at this time. It’s particularly notable that Farrell isn’t mentioned as he’s been previously said to have been close to signing, so this suggests he may have moved on.

Duncan Jones is directing from a screenplay that he rewrote, which was originally drafted by Charles Leavitt. The movie is based on the popular multi-player online roleplaying game World Of Warcraft, which is set in a world where players take part in an epic war between the Horde and the Alliance.

Filming begins in Vancouver next month, with a March 2016 release set.

New Need For Speed Trailer – Revving things up with Aaron Paul

When DreamWorks announced they were making a movie version of the videogame Need For Speed, it sounded like they were trying to cash in on the Fast & Furious audience, and that certainly seems to be true from the evidence of this first trailer. That doesn’t mean it won’t be worth a look though!

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Fresh from prison, framed for a crime he didn’t commit, street racer Tobey Marshall (Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul), is hell bent on settling the score.

‘With revenge at the forefront of his mind, he gears up for the ultimate cross-country race heaving with adrenaline-charged muscle machines and high-octane super cars. When his powerful rival (Dominic Cooper – The Devil’s Double) places a massive bounty on his head, the wheels are set in motion and the race is finally on.

Dominic Cooper The Latest Actor Linked To Freddie Mercury Role

Dominic-CooperIs Dominic Cooper in line to play Freddie Mercury in the planned biopic of the Queen frontman? He’s the latest to be linked to the role, according to Latino Review, is Dominic Cooper.

Sacha Baron Cohen was attached to play Mercury, but dropped out in August citing disagreements with the surviving members of Queen over the tone of the film. Cohen wanted a gritty tell-all, while the band members wanted a softer, PG-rated tale.

A couple of weeks ago Daniel Radcliffe was linked to the role, but he quickly stepped forward to deny the rumour.

Now it’s Cooper’s turn and as with Radcliffe, it’s difficult to know if there’s substance to this, or is it’s a rumour based purely on the fact Dominic is British and has dark hair. He does look a little more like Mercury than Radcliffe at least. Plus he can sing!

Peter Morgan wrote the script, but there’s no director attached at this time.

Dominic Cooper plays a former NASCAR driver who now owns a high-end shop that rebuilds race cars, while Imogen Poots is an exotic car dealer who works with both Aaron Paul and Dominic Cooper’s characters.

You might expect that the first pics from a motor-head movie like Need For Speed would show off the cars, but instead EW have debuts images giving us a look at Aaron Paul, Kid Cudi, Dominic Cooper and Dakota Johnson in the movie.

Based on the videogame series, Aaron Paul stars as an underground race car driver who owns a shop that modifies sports cars for racing. He is framed for the murder of his best friend, who died during a race, and upon his release from prison he seeks revenge. Dominic Cooper plays a former NASCAR driver who now owns a high-end shop that rebuilds race cars, while Imogen Poots is an exotic car dealer who works with both Aaron Paul and Dominic Cooper’s characters. Scott Waugh directs with a February 2014 release set.

Aaron Paul says, ”This set was different than anything I’ve been on. You’re walking through a very thick cloud of testosterone. It’s really a throwback to the Steve McQueen era of car movies. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised.”

On the characters, he adds, ”Dominic is kind of the antagonist of the film. Dakota is my character’s ex, and now Dominic ‘s character is the new guy she’s seeing.”

First Look At Need For Speed In A New Featurette

With Fast and Furious such a huge moneyspinner, it not too surprising that DreamWorks is wondering if it can have its own car-based franchised with Need For Speed. Now we get our first look at the movie courtesy of an on-the-set featurette, which unsurprisingly focuses on the automotive action.

Dominic Cooper Takes On Dracula Alongside Luke Evans

Dominic-CooperDominic Cooper must like bloodsuckers as after last year’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, he’s signed up to star alongside Luke Evans in Dracula (which has previously been known as Dracula Year Zero), according to Variety.

Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless wrote the latest draft of the screenplay, which blends mythological fiction and real history. The story follows the historical figure Vlad the Impaler (Luke Evans), who was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula character.

It isn’t clear who Cooper will play, but we do know Sarah Gadon will also appear in the movie. Gary Shore is set to direct.

Summer In February Trailer – Dan Stevens, Dominic Cooper & Emily Browning go bohemian

Directed by Christopher Menaul with a screenplay written by Jonathan Smith based on his 1995 novel, Summer In February stars Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Dominic Cooper (The Devil’s Double), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) and winner of the Evening Standard and the Critics’ Choice Theatre Awards for Best Actress for her performance in the Young Vic’s A Doll’s House; Harriet Morahan.

The film is the intimate true story of young, vibrant souls navigating their way through love, passion and friendship in the picturesque landscape of early twentieth century England. Summer In February focuses on the wild and bohemian Lamorna Group, dominated by the charismatic AJ Munnings (Dominic Cooper). The incendiary anti-Modernist Munnings, now regarded as one of Britain’s most sought-after artists, is at the heart of a complex love triangle involving the young, aspiring painter Florence Carter-Wood (Emily Browning) and Gilbert Evans (Dan Stevens), the land agent in charge of the Lamorna estate. Renowned painter Laura Knight is played by Hattie Morahan.

The story is played out against the timeless beauty of the Cornish coast, in the far West of England, beyond the reach of London and its stifling conventions. It hits UK cinemas on June 14th. [Read more…]
