Now director Scott Waugh is busy filling out the rest of the cast, with Deadline reporting that Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek and Harrison Gilbertson signing up.

Dominic Cooper Feels A Need for Speed Opposite Aaron Paul & Imogen Poots

Dominic Cooper has quite a good thing going as a supporting character in big summer movies, as he’s popped up in the likes of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Captain America: The First Avenger, and now Variety reports he’s in talks for director Scott Waugh’s videogame adaptation Need for Speed.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (Cinema)

June 21, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Benjamin Walker, Dominic Cooper, Rufus Sewell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Anthony Mackie
Director: Timur Bekmambetov
Running Time: 105 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: June 20th, 2012

It turns out Abraham Lincoln wasn’t just a lawyer who became the President of the United States and led the winning side in the Civil War – he actually did it all to battle the undead. Well, at least that’s what happens in this version of history.

As a child, Abe watches as a vampire sucks the life from his mother, an event which shapes his entire life, so that once he’s grown (into the form of Benjamin Walker), he wants nothing more than to kill the man responsible. After an attempt to shoot the vamp goes wrong – he’s not using the sort of ammunition that can kill bloodsuckers – he’s saved by Henry Sturgess (Dominic Cooper). Turns out Sturgess makes it his mission to destroy bad vampires, and trains Lincoln up to take on the undead. [Read more…]

New Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Trailer

May 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Although there’s still the possibility it’ll be a horrible mess, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is definitely one of this summer’s most intriguing flick. The trailers we’ve had certainly look cool! Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter reimagines the American president as an axe-wielding, highly trained vampire hunter. Seth Grahame-Smith’s book, on which the movie will be based, gives new context to Lincoln’s rise to the presidency as well as the American Civil War (which was fought because the vampires were in league with the slave owners), suggesting these events were a lot more paranormal than history tells us, and stemmed from Lincoln’s mother’s murder by a vampire when he was a child. The film hits UK cinemas August 2nd.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Red Band Trailer

It’s still a toss up whether it’ll be great or a complete mess, but Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is intensely intriguing and the trailers certainly look cool. That’s true of this new red-band effort, which brings the violence to the fore. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter reimagines the American president as an axe-wielding, highly trained vampire hunter. Dominic Cooper Is A Dead Man Down

April 4, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Dominic Cooper could do with some success, as while he signed up for a lot of movies (quite a few of which he ends up dropping out of), he hasn’t had a massive amount of post-Mamma Mia success. He’ll be hoping that Dead Man Down is a hit, as Variety reports that director Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) has cast him in the movie.

Last November Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace attached themselved to star in this action-thriller about a woman (Rapace) who enlists the help of a criminal (Farrell) to get revenge on those who murdered her family. Dominic Cooper will play Darcy, Farrell’s partner in crime on the street.

Niels Arden Oplev will direct from a screenplay by J.H. Wyman, with shooting st to begin later this month.

Jake Gyllenhaal Replaces Dominic Cooper In Motor City

March 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Who’s better – Jake Gyllenhaal or Dominic Cooper? I can imagine both have their fans, but Jake is probably the bigger star, and he has now stepped in to replace Cooper as the male lead in Warner Bros.’ crime thriller Motor City, according to Variety. Dominic backed out due to scheduling conflicts, presumably because the Motor City clashes with Cities, which he recently signed up for.

Gyllenhaal will play an ex-con who gets released from prison and sets off on a quest for vengeance, seeking out the men who framed him. Amber Heard will be the female lead, while Gary Oldman is set to play the villain.

Albert Hughes, best known for directing the likes of From Hell and The Book Of Eli with his brother Allen, is helming Motor City from Chad St. John’s screenplay, which landed on the Black List back in 2009. It isn’t known when the movie will shoot.

Dominic Cooper & Katherine Herfurth Have Passion

February 23, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For a while now, Brian De Palma has been putting together a movie called Passion, which will be his first film since 2007’s Redacted. Now the cast has grown as Mediabiz (via The Playlist) reports that Dominic Cooper and Karoline Herfurth (The Reader) have signed up to star opposite the already cast Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace.

The film is a remake of Alan Corneau’s French thriller Love Crime, about a young woman who takes revenge on an older female executive who has taken advantage of the protagonist one too many times. In the original, which starred Ludivine Sagnier and Kristen Scott Thomas, the younger woman steals the older one’s ideas, which causes their rivalry to start burning, until it reaches the point of murder! However De Palma has swapped things round so it’s the older woman nicking things from the young hotshot.

There’s no news on exactly who Cooper and Herfurth will play, but shooting is expected to start soon.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Posters Emerge

The first posters have emerged (via IGN) for Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, with Day and Night versions competing for your attention. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter reimagines the American president as an axe-wielding, highly trained vampire hunter. Seth Grahame-Smith’s book, on which the movie is based, gives new context to Lincoln’s rise to the presidency as well as the American Civil War (which was fought because the vampires were in league with the slave owners), suggesting these events were a lot more paranormal than history tells us, and stemmed from Lincoln’s mother’s murder by a vampire when he was a child. The film’s due in the UK on August 2nd, but for now enjoy the rather fun posters.

Joel Kinnaman Gets The Lead In Arthur & Lancelot

October 30, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

The TV show The Killing seems to be a breeding ground for stars, with Mireille Enos is the upcoming Gangster Squad and World War Z, and now THR reports her Swedish co-star Joel Kinnaman landing one of the main leads in Warner Bros’ Arthur & Lancelot.

The film will be based on David Dobkin’s spec screenplay (he’ll also direct), which as the name suggests is a reimagining of the King Arthur and Sir Lancelot stories. It’s likely we’ll see a friends become enemies tale with them falling out over Guinevere.

Casting is still ongoing for the King Arthur role, with actors such as Kit Harington, Sam Claflin, Dominic Cooper, Hans Matheson, Jim Sturgess, Benjamin Walker, and Liam Hemsworth all in contention. It isn’t certain when the $90 million movie will shoot, but it’s already got a March 2013 release date set.
