Peter Facinelli Is Going In The Freezer With Dylan McDermott

January 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Peter-FacinelliJust last week it was revealed that Dylan McDermott had signed up to star in the action-thriller Freezer, for director Mikael Salomon. Now he’s got some company as Twilight and Nurse Jackie star Peter Facinelli has joined the cast. Filming start in Edmonton, Canada later this month. Yuliya Snigir (A Good Day to Die Hard) also stars.

Robert (McDermott) is an everyday guy who finds himself tested beyond human endurance when he wakes up to find himself locked in an industrial freezer by Russian thugs. They insist he returns the $8 million dollars he stole from them, the only problem is, Robert has no idea what they are talking about. Surprised as anyone would be, Robert finds he is not alone in the freezer when he finds Sam (Facinelli) hiding behind a series of boxes. Unsure of each other, but stuck in a battle together, the two must join forces and fight for their lives before they freeze to death, as the truth slowly reveals itself.

Producer Lee Nelson commented, “Peter Facinelli will surprise a lot of people with this character. There is a subtlety and depth to his choices that keeps us guessing at every turn. It’s something we haven’t seen from him before and it’s truly exciting to watch.”

The Campaign (DVD)

January 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Will Ferrell, Jason Sudeikis, Dylan McDermott, Zach Galifianakis
Director: Jay Roach
Running Time: 80 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: January 21st 2013

Director Jay Roach had a bit of a political 2012. He made the HBO Sarah Palin biopic Game Change and the comedy The Campaign. For my money it was the former that was the most successful.

The Campaign is the sort of movie that will divide audiences – if you don’t mind films that leave reality in the dust and find their humour in stupidity, you’ll probably like it, but if you want your films to have some sort of logic to them, you’ll probably give up about 20 minutes in. Step Up 4: Miami Heat (3D Blu-ray)

December 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Kathryn McCormick, Ryan Guzman, Dylan McDermott, Misha Gabriel
Director: Scott Speer
Running Time: 99 mins
Certificate: PG
Release Date: December 3rd 2012

While the Step Up franchise looked like it was on its last legs after only two instalments, the re-emergence of 3D gave the things a bit of a kick up the ass, with Step Up 3-D taking $160 million around the world and ensuring it was worth making a part four. Now that new sequel arrives on 3D Blu-ray.

If you’ve seen any of the previous Step Up movies, you’ll know not to expect much from the plot, and indeed this one barely even tries. There are two basic plots for dance films – one is a streetwise poor kid with funky moves falling for a rich girl whose rigid classical dance training needs shaking up, and the other is corporate types trying to bulldoze something, and for some reason only dancing can stop them.  Step Up: Miami Heat crashes both those plots together, with rich, ballet dancing Emily meeting and starting to fall for working class Sean, who’s one of the leaders of ‘The Mob’, a group that stages intricately choreographed streetdance flashmobs around Miami. Olympus Has Fallen already has Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Angela Bassett onboard, and now it’s added a new name, with Variety reporting that Dylan McDermott has signed up for the Antoine Fuqua movie.

The film sees the White House taken over by terrorists and Butler’s Secret Service agent having to take it back. McDermott is set to play a fellow Secret Service agent, although there’s no info on exactly how he fits into a plot. Eckhart will be the President.

It’s not the only film with this plot of the cards, as Roland Emmerich is putting together White House Down, with Channing Tatum in the lead role.

Adding John Lithgow to a film’s cast is nearly always a good move, and that’s probably going to bes true of the political comedy Dog Fight, which Variety reports Lithgow has signed up to star in, although no details have been given as to what character he’ll be playing.

The movie is about two political rivals (Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis) who are competing for a Congressional seat in a small North Carolina district. Jason Sudeikis, Sarah Baker, Brian Cox, and Dylan McDermott also star.

Jay Roach is directing Dog Fight from a screenplay by Shawn Harwell and Chris Henchy. Ferrell and Galifianakis are producing alongside Adam McKay. And they’d better start filming soon, as Warner Bros. already has the comedy slated for release on August 10, 2012, ahead of the US election in the autumn.

Dylan McDermott Gets Into A Dog Fight

October 27, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Dylan McDermott has always been a bit of an ‘always the bridesmaid’ type actor, and while he’s currently taking the lead in the new US TV show American Horror Story, he’s also lined up one of his more usual supporting roles in Dog Fight for Warner Bros.

According to Deadline, McDermott will play Tim Wattley, a political consultant who runs the congressional campaign for a South Carolina candidate (Zach Galifianakis), who gets into a increasingly dirty campaign against Will Ferrell’s fellow candidate. Jason Sudeikis also recently joined the cast, alongside Sarah Baker and Katherine LaNasa.

Jay Roach will direct, with shooting set to being in November.
