You’re Killing Me (Outfest Review)

July 21, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Matthew McKelligon, Jeffery Self, Drew Droege, Jack Plotnick, Bryan Safi
Director: Jim Hansen
Running Time: 88 mins
Certificate: NR (US)
Release Date: July 15th 2015 (Outfest)

You’re Killing Me sounds like a fun premise, perhaps for a short movie. Indeed, it starts off with what is essentially an entertaining short film. After game night with his friends, Andy (Matthew Wilkas) wants to finally have sex with his new boyfriend, Joe (Matthew McKelligon). However, Joe doesn’t want to, so in desperation Andy says he’ll do whatever kinky thing Joe wants to do. It turns out that what Joe really wants is to murder Andy – which is exactly what he proceeds to do.

However, after this fun beginning, You’re Killing Me has to find something to fill the next 80 minutes with, and that’s where the premise quickly starts running thin. [Read more…]

Wrong Trailer – Jack Plotnick stars in Quentin Dupieux’s very strange film

January 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Quentin Dupieux’s last film, Rubber, about a killer tyre, was very strange, so it’s no surprise that the trailer for his new movie, Wrong, is very odd as well.

Out actor Jack Plotnick stars as Dolph Springer, who awakens one morning to find he has lost the sole love of his life-his dog, Paul. Desperate to reunite with his best friend and to set things right, Dolph embarks on a journey which spirals into the realm of the absurd. On his quest, he drastically alters the lives of several severely bizarro characters, including a promiscuous pizza delivery girl (Alexis Dziena), a mentally unstable, jogging-addicted neighbor, an opportunistic French-Mexican gardener, an eccentric pet detective (Steve Little) and most mysterious of all, an enigmatic pony-tailed guru, Master Chang (William Fichtner) who imparts his teachings to Dolph on how to metaphysically reconnect with his pet.

There’s no UK release set yet, but it hits VOD formats February 1st before arriving in cinema on March 29th.

Wrong Teaser Trailer – The director of Rubber returns

December 1, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

One of the unexpected treats of last year’s Sundance, which went on to become a bit of a cult sensation, was Rubber, a movie about a killer car tyre! Now Rubber’s director, Quentin Dupieux, is returning to Sundance with his follow-up, Wrong, and an odd little teaser for the film has just hit. It’s a bit difficult to tell exactly what the movie is about, but apparently it involves is a man searching for his lost dog, who encounters a pneumatic pizza-delivery girl, a jogging neighbour and a “mysterious righter of wrongs”. It’s weird but like Rubber, could be fun. No release date is currently set.
