Robert de Niro Will Have Joy. Reuniting With Jennifer Lawrence & David O. Russell

November 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Robert-De-NiroDavid O. Russell has always liked working with the same actors on different films, even if in the past his temper has meant people haven’t wanted to work with him. However he’s calmed down in recent years and a few months ago it was revealed he was due to make his third movie in a row with Jennifer Lawrence, Joy.

Now he’s bringing in a fellow Silver Linings Playbook actor to star alongside Lawrence, Robert de Niro, according to THR.

The film is a biopic of Joy Mangano, a struggling Long Island single mom of three who became one of the country’s most successful entrepreneurs with her self-wringing Miracle Mop invention. Annie Mumolo wrote the script about a woman who was working three jobs to try and support her family, and had to fight to get her invention recognised, but it eventually became a home shopping sensation, including her becoming one of the Home Shopping Network’s most successful presenters. Robert De Niro will play Joy’s father.

The film is due to shoot next February and may well be making an Oscar run at the end of 2015.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Trailer – Jennifer Lawrence reluctantly leads a rebellion

September 15, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hunger-games-mockinjay-katniss-final-poster-slideAfter promising it a few days ago, the trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay is here and there’s no doubt it’s looking pretty cool. It successfully broaches the fact that the third Hunger Games novel is rather different to the first two, by suggesting that this time around the whole of Panem is the arena.

Serena Trailer – Plus posters for the Jennifer Lawrence & Bradley Cooper reunion

September 13, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

serena-poster1Serena certainly looks like it’s going to be pretty, but perhaps surprisingly while it looks like Oscar fodder there’s no US release set yet. However other parts of the world are luckier, as it’s due for release in the UK on October 24th and comes to various other countries in the coming months too.

Now we get to take a look with the trailer and posters, which show off Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper’s giving a rather different period look to their American Hustle efforts, which you can see above and below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘North Carolina mountains at the end of the 1920s – George and Serena Pemberton, love-struck newly-weds, begin to build a timber empire. Serena soon proves herself to be equal to any man: overseeing loggers, hunting rattle-snakes, even saving a man’s life in the wilderness. With power and influence now in their hands, the Pembertons refuse to let anyone stand in the way of their inflated love and ambitions. However, once Serena discovers George’s hidden past and faces an unchangeable fate of her own, the Pembertons’ passionate marriage begins to unravel leading toward a dramatic reckoning.’

Interestingly when it originally went development it was going to be rather different, as Darren Aronofsky was set to direct with Angelina Jolie starring. Now though it’s Lawrence, Cooper and Susanne Bier directing. [Read more…]

Katniss Gets Her Final Hunger Games: Mockingjay Poster

September 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hunger-games-mockinjay-katniss-final-posterThe marketing for Hunger Games: Mockingjay has certainly been pretty cool, and it continues with the release of the final Katniss poster, where she gets to show off why she really is the Mockingjay.

The poster comes with the news that the full trailer will be here in five days time.

In Mockingjay Part 1, Revolution seems inevitable, but Katniss still isn’t sure if she wants to be the public face of it, even if the Districts do need someone to rally around.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is due out November 20th, 2014, with the final film (until an inevitable further sequel or spin-off is announced), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, out the same time the following year.

September 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Hunger-Games-Mockingjay-resistance-poster7Last week a series of character posters arrived introducing us to the Rebel Warriors of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. However there was one person missing – the woman being lined up as the poster girl of the fight against the Capitol, Katniss Everdeen.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 Teaser Trailer – Revolution is brewing for Katniss and co.

July 28, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hunger-games-mockingjay-poster-slideIt’s here! After some smart marketing where The Capitol has been calling for unity in a very iron fist in a velvet glove way, the teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is here, and you can watch it below.

Revolution seems inevitable, but Katniss still isn’t sure if she wants to be the poster child for it, even if the Districts do need someone to rally around. The teaser also gives us a look at Julianne Moore as Alma Coin, whose feeling about Katniss may not be entirely altruistic.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is due out November 21st, 2014, with the final film (until an inevitable further sequel or spin-off is announced), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, out the same time the following year.

American Hustle (Blu-ray)

April 27, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Jeremy Renner
Director: David O. Russell
Running Time: 139 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: April 28th 2014

American Hustle recently joined a select band of movies to get 10 Oscar nominations but not win a single award (although The Turning Point and Color Purple still hold the record with 11 noms and no wins). However the fact a film like this got 10 nods is a pretty impressive achievement on its own.

Christian Bale is Irving Rosenfeld, a small time hustler who finds his con man empire growing when he teams up with the smart and beautiful Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams). However things look like they’re going south after the FBI’s Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper) fingers them. [Read more…]
