First Official Look At Joe Manganiello As DC’s Deathstroke

November 26, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For quite a long time there’s been talk about Deathstroke showing up in one of the DC film universe movies, with Joe Manganiello lined up to play the supervillain/antihero. [Minor Spoilers ahead] We got out first look at the Magic Mike star as Deathstroke in one of the post-credits scenes in Justice League.

The scene hinted towards a possible League Of Doom movie (partly as it also involved Lex Luthor), and there’s also a solo Deathstroke movie in development, which Gareth Evans (The Raid) is currently attached to direct. However, for those who didn’t catch the post-credits scene, Manganiello has released the first official of him in character via Instagram.

He’s certainly got the right look for the character. However, while Deathstroke is traditionally a villain, it sounds as if Warner/DC is planning a more complex antihero arc for the character. Indeed, it’ll be interesting to see if he features in the planned Suicide Squad 2. Take a look at the pics below. [Read more…]

Smurfs: The Lost Village (Cinema Review) – The little blue creatures are back and totally animated

March 29, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Danny Pudi, Demi Lovato, Jack McBrayer, Joe Manganiello, Julia Roberts
Director: Kelly Asbury
Running Time: 89 mins
Certificate: PG
Release Date: March 31st 2017 (UK)

After a couple of part live-action outings, Sony has decided that a bit of a reboot and a fully animated adventure is the direction they want to take The Smurfs. They’d have probably done better to have gone this root from the beginning, as the little blue creatures never seemed like they fit in the real world, and this fully animated adventure allows it to be closer to the tales of Peyo and the early 80s Hannah-Barbera cartoon.

As well as the fact there’s no Neil Patrick Harris or Hank Azaria, the voices of most of the Smurfs have changed too. Not that kids will care though, and quite frankly why they decided they needed names like Demi Lovato, Joe Manganiello and Julia Roberts involved is a mystery, as it’s not like anyone is going to buy a ticket because of it. Magic Mike XXL: Matt Bomer Sings Plus Some Hot New Pics From The Film

June 21, 2015 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

magic-mike-xxl-slideI think I officially hate Matt Bomer: great face, dreamy blue eyes, sculpted body, good at acting, cute husband, adorable kids, and now it turns out he’s good at singing voice too. It’s sickening and shouldn’t be allowed, especially as he’s making all the rest of us gays look really bad in comparison!

Bomer is set to show off his singing skills in Magic Mike XXL, and a preview of his version of the song Heaven has been released in a clip that you can watch below.

Alongside that is a selection of new images of Bomer, Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello, Adam Rodriguez and the rest of the Magic Mike male stripping crew.

Here’s the film’s synopsis: ‘Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, “Magic Mike XXL” finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel.  But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them.  On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.’

It’s out in cinemas July 3rd. [Read more…]

Magic Mike XXL Gets A Shirtless New Poster

May 21, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

magic-mike-xxl-new-posterI know this will come as a surprise to most of you, but in Magic Mike XXL, Channing Tatum and his cast-mates will be taking their shirts off! To make sure we’re aware of this, following previous shirtless posters and a very shirtless trailer, a new poster has arrived, where once more the poor guys don’t have enough money to afford clothes to cover their nipples.

Take a look at it above (and it has to be said, Matt Bomer is looking really good!).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“Magic Mike” stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias are reuniting for the hotly anticipated sequel “Magic Mike XXL”. Joining the returning cast, in brand new roles, will be Elizabeth Banks (“The Hunger Games” franchise), Donald Glover (“Community”), Amber Heard (“The Rum Diary”), Andie MacDowell (“Footloose”), Jada Pinkett Smith (“Gotham”) and Michael Strahan (“Live with Kelly and Michael”).

Magic Mike XXL Trailer – Channing Tatum and the stripper boys are on the road

May 6, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

magic mike-xxl-multiple-character-bannerThe press release for this one warned people to ‘Lock up your daughters’, but there was no mention of sons, and so it looks like gay guys are being given free reign on this one (even if there is sadly a minimal amount of Matt Bomer in this trailer).

Generally though, if you’re upset that men keep their clothes on too much in the movies, Magic Mike XXL is here to help you out, and as this trailer is keen to show, this sequel will have plenty more shirtless, stripper shenanigans, while ramping the sexual suggestiveness up to 11.

What’s still not clear is the exact tone it will have. The first movie certainly had plenty of stripping, but that was placed around a rather dark, dramatic plot. Channing Tatum has given mixed responses to whether the new movie will follow suit, or if it will be more deliberately fun.

We’ll have to wait and see.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“Magic Mike” stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias are reuniting for the hotly anticipated sequel “Magic Mike XXL”. May 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

magic-mike-xxl-star-wars-posterThe Magic Mike boys decided to get in on the Star Wars day action yesterday with a poster inspired by ones from a galaxy far, far away, but with far more shirtless men bumping and grinding. Alongside that came a brief teaser for the guys’ return – in full boyband style – which you can take a look at below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“Magic Mike” stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias are reuniting for the hotly anticipated sequel “Magic Mike XXL”. April 27, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

joe-manganiello-magic-mike-xxl-posterOver the past couple of weeks Magic Mike XXL has been serving up a bevy of shirtless guys, which should help ensure that certain parts of our anatomy are extremely keen to see the return of the male strippers this summer.

We’ve already head Channing Tatum, Adam Rodriguez, Matt Bomer and tWitch, and now it’s time for the Joe Manganiello’s Big Dick Richie and Kevin Nash’s Tarzan, which you can take a look at above and below.

Magic Mike XXL Trailer – Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer & co. are back and as sexy as ever

February 4, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

magic-mike-xxl-trailer-stillForget Fifty Shades Of Grey, as for many people the sexy film event of 2015 is Magic Mike XXL. Last night we posted a suggestive poster and now comes the trailer, which ups the ante right from the beginning, where Channing Tatum can’t even do metalwork without making it looking ridiculously sexual (to the point it almost looks silly).

He’s not the only one, as the likes of Matt Bomer, Adam Rodriguez and Joe Manganiello can’t do anything without making it look like they’re virtually dry humping you through the screen.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘”Magic Mike” stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias are reuniting for the hotly anticipated sequel “Magic Mike XXL”. Sabotage (Blu-ray Review)

September 15, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sam Worthington, Terrence Howard, Mireille Enos, Joe Manganiello
Director: Davis Ayer
Running Time: 109 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: September 15th 2014 (UK)

There’s a tendency that even film reviewers fall into, which is to think that we always treat each individual film on its own merits. However sometimes it’s often not true. There can be a big problem when people go into a movie thinking it’s going to be one thing when actually it’s something else. As a result they judge it against their expectations not against the film itself.

I couldn’t help thinking about that while watching Sabotage, as many of the truly horrendous reviews the film have received are essentially bemoaning the fact they thought they were getting a ‘typical’ Arnie movie. However it’s not that, but the reviews still seem to view it through the lens of 80s Schwarzenegger. [Read more…]

Channing Tatum & The Male Strippers Are Back As Magic Mike XXL Starts Shooting

September 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

magic-mike-new-slide‘It’s ON!’

Those are the words of Steven Soderbergh as he announced the start of shooting on Magic Mike XXL with a tweeted picture of the movie’s clapperboard, which you can see below.

You might be wondering what Soderbergh is doing there, seeing as he’s ‘retired’ from directing and has passed the helming reins for the male stripper sequel to his longtime Assistant Director, Gregory Jacobs. Unusually Steven’s not just there for moral support, but as one of the staff. The cinematographer’s name on the clapperboard, Peter Andrews, is a pseudonym for Soderbergh, and he will also edit the movie.

But while the shoot has started, there are still plenty of unanswered questions. For a start we don’t know much about the plot, other than what Channing Tatum told MTV a few months ago when he said, “This one will be a road trip movie. Without giving a lot away, we don’t wanna make it a really serious, slice-of-life movie. We want to have reality in it, but we don’t want to make it some dark drama. There was some darkness in the last one that I think surprised people and shocked people. This one, we want there to be a lot of conflict and a lot of struggle, but we also want there to be a shit-ton of fun. A shit-ton of just ridiculous stuff that you would never see in a movie.”

Tatum and Joe Manganiello are both definitely back, and while it’s previously been suggested Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer and Matthew McConaughey were also likely to reprise their roles in one way or another, they’ve still not been officially announced.

Channing also co-wrote the movie alongside collaborator Reid Carolin. The film’s due out July 2015. [Read more…]
