Disney’s Frozen Character Posters Debut – Meet Elsa & Anna

February 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

frozen character poster1 thumbLater this year Disney will be hoping to match the success of Tangled with Frozen, a new take on the classic tale The Snow Queen (a story the studio has been thinking about animating for decades). Now two new character posters from the film have debuted over at Cine1, giving us our first proper look at lead characters Elsa and Anna.

Here is the synopsis: ‘When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna, a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna’s sister Elsa, the Snow Queen, and put an end to her icy spell. Encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.’

Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad and Jonathan Groff lead the voice cast. The movie is due out in the US this November, and will probably reach the UK the following February.

Hit And Run Red Band Trailer – Dax Shepard & Bradley Cooper go on the road

June 28, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Hit and Run is the story of Charlie Bronson (Dax Shepard), a former getaway driver who busts out of the Witness Protection Program to drive his girlfriend (Kristen Bell) to Los Angeles so she can land her dream job. Their road trip grows awkwardly complicated, when they are chased by the feds (led by Tom Arnold), and increasingly dangerous, when Charlie’s former gang of criminals (led by Bradley Cooper) enter the fray. Although Shepard has a variable track record in lead roles, it’s a great cast. The trailer does skirt on the edge of racism and seems slightly obsessed with Bradley Cooper having been raped in prison, but hopefully in the context of the movie it doesn’t come across a homophobic.

First Look At Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2’s Renesnee

June 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The first image of Renesmee from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 has arrived, via EW. At the end of Breaking Dawn Part 1, Renesmee was a newborn, but as you can see from the image above, where she peeps out from behind her mother, she’s growing ridiculously fast! But that’s what happens when you test the uncharted territories of having a half-vampire, half human child.

As this is Twilight, no one is allowed to smile, even for a family portrait, but then with everyone from the wolfpack to the Volturi not being too chuffed about Renesmee’s existence, they probably don’t have much to be cheerful about. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 hits cinema on November 16th.

Idina Menzel & Kristen Bell Join Disney’s Frozen

June 12, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Idina Menzel is a huge name on the Broadway stage, but she’s never made as much of an impact on screen, despite popping up in the likes of Rent, Enchanted and playing Rachel’s birth mother in Glee. However now her voice will be getting a major outing in Disney’s Frozen, which is inspired by the fairytale The Snow Queen.

Slated for release November 2013 and directed by Chris Buck (Tarzan, Surf’s Up), Frozen will also feature Kristen Bell as Anna, a young dreamer about to take the adventure of a lifetime, with Menzel as Elsa, the Snow Queen.

In Frozen, a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, so Anna (Bell) must team up with Kristoff, a daring mountain man, on the grandest of journeys to find the Snow Queen (Menzel) and put an end to the icy spell. Encountering Everest-like extremes, mystical creatures and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.

The movie will feature original songs by Broadway greats Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. Robert Lopez is a three-time Tony Award-winner thanks to The Book of Mormon, which was co-written with Trey Parker and Matt Stone (South Park), and the musical Avenue Q, which ran for six years on Broadway and four years in London’s West End. Lopez teamed with wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez, whose Drama Desk-winning show In Transit is Broadway-bound, to write original songs for 2011’s Winnie the Pooh, a stage version of Finding Nemo and a new musical called Up Here. Big Miracle (DVD)

June 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Starring: Drew Barrymore, Ted Danson, Kristen Bell, John Pingayak, John Krasinski
Director: Ken Kwapis
Running Time: 102 mins
Certificate: PG
Release Date: June 4th, 2012

Everybody love whales, right? Indeed they’re so adored that the original name of this film was Everybody Loves Whales, before being changed to the more generic and slightly meaningless Big Miracle. Indeed it’s a change that seems indicative of the slightly ballsed-up marketing this movie’s had, as it deserved to get a big audience and is just the sort of film many families will love. Instead of selling it properly though, it was merely slipped out and made just $20 million at the US box office. Hopefully it’ll find a bit more of an audience on DVD.

John Krasinski plays Adam Carlson, a news reporter for a small TV station who’s been sent to Barrow, Alaska to talk about what it’s like to live in the Arctic circle, in one of the most northerly towns in the world. Just as he’s about to leave, he happens upon three Gray Whales trapped in a small breathing hole in the ice. It’s too far for them to swim to the open ocean without drowning and their outlook seems bleak. [Read more…]

Hit And Run Trailer – Dax Shepard & Kristen Bell go on a road trip

Kristen Bell Says ‘It Breaks My Heart That Gay Americans Can’t Marry’

March 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kristen Bell has always been a gay ally and revealed recently what a strong one she is, when she said in an interview that she and boyfriend Dax Shepard have been put off marriage by the lack of equality.

She said, “The reason we’re not rushing to get married is because I don’t feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that’s denied to my best friends. That’s why we’ve been so hesitant… Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us. We’re just standing up for what we believe in. Period.’

She’s decided to make her stance even more public with a new advert for the Human Rights Campaign, where she says, “It breaks my heart that millions of gay Americans can’t marry the one they love.”

You can take a look at the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star’s new pro-marriage equality ad below:

Kristen Bell Joins Some Girls And She’ll Get Frozen For Disney Too

March 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kristen Bell gained a lot of fans thanks to Veronica Mars, but since then she’s only managed to flit around the edge of movie stardom. Now she’s got another couple of role she’ll hope will cement her position as a box office talent, as she’s set to star in Neil LaBute’s Some Girl, as well as Disney’s animated project, Frozen.

THR reports that LaBute’s adaptation of his stage play stars Adam Brody (Damsels in Distress) as a man who attempts to make amends with several ex-girlfriends on the eve of his wedding. Bell plays Bobbi, a smart, articulate woman he bailed on years before without a word, leaving her without respect or love for him.

Bell has also signed up to voice the lead role in Frozen, an upcoming animated musical from Walt Disney Pictures. Frozen is the latest incarnation of Disney’s endless attempts to make a movie based on The Snow Queen fairy story. However, it’s not known how much of the oriignal tale remains, or who Bell might play, although it is said that she will be both speaking and singing as the lead character. Chris Buck (Surf’s Up) is directing. The film’s due out late 2013.

Kristen Bell Put Off Marriage By Lack Of Equality

February 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kristen Bell and comedian/actor Dax Shepard have been dating for a long time, but have never gone down the aisle and gotten married. The actress often gets asked about it, but has only now decided to divulge the reason why.

The Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Veronica Mars star tells The Advocate, ‘I get a ton of questions about when Dax and I are getting married. I usually blow them off because it’s nobody’s business. To be honest with you – and this is the first time I’ve ever said this to a journalist, but it feels like the perfect time and place – the reason we’re not rushing to get married is because I don’t feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that’s denied to my best friends. That’s why we’ve been so hesitant.’

‘Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us. We’re just standing up for what we believe in. Period.’

Bell isn’t the only Hollywood celeb who has decided not to marry while that right is denied to same sex couples. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie also made a pledge not to marry until equality had been achieved (although Brad recently said ‘I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out’), and NCIS’s Pauley Perette and her fiance Thomas Arklie have done the same.

Bell is hopeful though that marriage equality will be achieved, saying ‘In about 10 years, knock on wood, I think we’re going to be embarrassed as a nation about our behavior on this issue. It’s going to be exactly like what happened in 1970, when people were like, ‘Whoa, 1960 sucked. We should’ve let everyone ride the bus.”

Bell has plenty more to say about her gay friends and thoughts of LGBT issues over at The Advocate, so head over there and have a read.

‘I get a ton of questions about when Dax and I are getting married,’ she tells The Advocate. ‘I usually blow them off because it’s nobody’s business. To be honest with you — and this is the first time I’ve ever said this to a journalist, but it feels like the perfect time and place — the reason we’re not rushing to get married is because I don’t feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that’s denied to my best friends. That’s why we’ve been so hesitant.’

‘Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us,’ she added. ‘We’re just standing up for what we believe in. Period.’
