Great New Wrath Of The Titans Posters Debut

February 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Although we’re still waiting to see whether Wrath Of The Titans can be a bit better story-wise than Clash Of The Titans, it’s certainly got some good artwork (and the trailer wasn’t bad either). We’ve just been sent three new posters for the movie which you can see above and below. Don’t you just love Perseus’ new bouffant hairdo?

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year-old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld.

‘Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus’s godly son, Ares, switch loyalty and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans’ strength grows stronger as Zeus’s remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda, Poseidon’s demigod son, Agenor, and fallen god Hephaestus, Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.’ It hits UK cinemas March 30th.

The Debt (DVD)

January 22, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Helen Mirren, Tom Wilkinson, Jessica Chastain, Sam Worthington
Director: John Madden
Running Time: 113 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: January 23rd, 2012

The Debt starts out in 1997, with Rachel (Helen Mirren) being lauded for her role in a Mossad mission 30 years before, in which she and two other agents are known for going into East Berlin to bring a Nazi War Criminal to justice, killing him in the process. After a dinner in her honour, shocking news comes through that one of the other agents, David (Ciaran Hinds), has thrown himself in front of a truck, and it seems to have something to do with their shared past.

Flashing back to 1965 – when Helen Mirren was Jessica Chastain, Ciaran Hinds was Sam Worthington and Tom Wilkinson was Martin Csokas – we find out exactly what happened on the mission. Rachel enters East Berlin and a rundown apartment where David and Stephan have been cooped up together for months, with only each other for company. When the mission goes wrong and the plan to get the Nazi out of East Berlin fails, the situation gets ever more intense while the trio try to find a way to extract the criminal to Israel. Wrath Of The Titans Trailer – Sam Worthington works up a sweat

December 19, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Last year they clashed and now those Titans are going to have some wrath, with Sam Worthington returning as Perseus on March 30th, 2012. The trailer for the movie has just dropped, which suggests we’re in for more of the same, with lots of derring-do, battling monsters and Liam Neeson being a God. Hopefully though this film will be a little more coherent. Quite why Sam Worthington needs his new hairdo I’m not sure, although I suppose it does make him look more like Harry Hamlin in the original 1980s Clash. Click below to take a look.

First Images From Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters & More

December 3, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

US magazine Entertainment Weekly is in the fortunate position to be big enough that it very often gets the very first images from movies to show off. Its latest issue has a trio of exclusive first looks – Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Wrath Of The Titans and Neighborhood Watch.

The pic above, via EW, is from Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, which stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as grown up versions of the fairy tale characters, who are now in the business of hunting witches. Arterton commented, “You see a series of flashbacks with their experience of killing that first witch, which is brilliant. I remember being on set for the final few days of that. The candy house, and the witches are really repulsive and quite frightening. The make-up is out of this world. It’s this bone-chilling scene. Very dark. The girl who plays my character is brilliant, with the horrified expression she has. This (movie) is about abandonment and being lost and parents leaving you. The heart of it is that these kids grow up to be bloodthirsty witch hunters. It’s a bit tongue in cheek, really. What would Hansel and Gretel be in 15 years time?”

Take a look below for the Neighborhood Watch and Wrath Of The Titans pics, which were scanned from Entertainment Weekly by The Playlist.

Neighborhood Watch stars Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Richard Ayoade and Jonah Hill as guys who put together a home security group as an excuse to hang out and get away from their families. However they discover a nefarious plot to take over the world! The film’s due out August 22nd, 2012.

Sam Worthington is rocking a lovely bouffant look in the followup to Clash of The Titans. The Jonathan Liebesman directed movie is out March 20th, and sees Perseus heading into the underworld after Zeus is kidnapped.

Clash Of The Titans 3 Already In The Works

November 3, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Warner Bros must be confident their Clash Of The Titans follow-up, Wrath Of The Titans, is going to be a hit, as they’ve already started work on a third film in the franchise. They’ve hired Dan Mazeau and David Johnson, who also wrote the second movie, to pen Clash of the Titans 3, even though Wrath of the Titans doesn’t hit theaters until March 30th, 2012.

Little is known about the story of Clash of the Titans 3, although THR says insiders claim Toby Kebbell’s Agenor, a sidekick to Sam Worthington’s Perseus in Wrath of the Titans, may feature heavily in Clash of the Titans 3. It is also believed that Wrath of the Titans director Jonathan Liebesman will return for Clash of the Titans 3, although no deal have been worked out quite yet.

However a third film is dependent on the seoncd movie becoming a hit. The first Clash flick grossed nearly $500 million worldwide, and Warner will be hoping Wrath does at least the same.

Butler,Worthington and McConaughey Take Thunder Run

October 28, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

You can understand why motion-capture is a great technology to use in sci-fi and fantasy movies, but could it also be the future of war films? It appears Freedom Films thinks so, as THR reports they’re putting together Thunder Run, an all CG 3D action thriller, using their proprietary facial capture technology and the motion capture technology utilised in Avatar.

It appears they’ve also got a good cast together who’ve agreed to get in the morion capture suits, as it’s been announced Gerard Butler, Sam Worthington (who, of course, is a mo-cap veteran thanks to Avatar) and Matthew McConaughey will star, while Simon West will direct.

Thunder Run is based on the novel ‘Thunder Run – The Armored Strike to Capture Baghdad’, by Pulitzer Prize-winning correspondent David Zucchino, with the screenplay being handled by Academy Award-winner Robert David Port and Ken Nolan, screenwriter of Black Hawk Down.

It tells the story of the dangerous and bloody capture of Baghdad by American Forces at the onset of the Iraq War. In April 2003, three battalions and fewer than a thousand men launched a violent thrust of tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles into the heart of a city of five million, igniting a three-day blitzkrieg, which military professionals often refer to as a lightning strike, or “thunder run.”

It’s certainly an intriguing idea, although it’s very uncertain whether audiences with buy into a war movie where everything is CG. The idea is to be able to tell the story on a huge scale (without it being prohibitively expensive to make) and to capture the feel of Call Of Duty on film, but we’ll have to wait and see if it actually works.
