New The Host Banner Posters Online Featuring Saoirse Ronan & Max Irons

January 7, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

HOST-banner1Those mourning the end of The Twilight Saga can take some solace in the fact that another Stephenie Meyer adaptation, The Host, will arrive in cinemas on March 22nd. Now a trio of new posters has arrived that fit together into a banner image.

In The Host, our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed, including Soarise Ronan’s main character, Melanie Stryder. However while normally the human is completely subdued by their host, in Melanie’s case, her personality flashes through, intriguing her Host, known as Wanda, and setting them off on a quest to find the last free humans. Ronan, Jake Abel, Max Irons and William Hurt star in the movie.

We have to say the ‘Choose To Love’ image looks like a Nicholas Sparks adaptation, but the rest seems okay.

I’d imagine there are many people out there already feeling Twilight withdrawal symptoms now that the final film in the series has hit cinemas. However they might find some solace from the fact another Stephenie Meyer adaptation, the sci-fi flick The Host, hits cinemas on March 29th, 2013.

Now a slew of new images from the film have arrived via Hollywood.com, showing the likes of Saoirse Ronan, Jake Abel, Max Irons and William Hurt. Saoirse Ronan, Alicia Vikander & Gabriella Wilde Try Out For Cinderella

December 1, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A couple of days ago it was revealed that Cate Blanchett was in talks to play the wicked stepmother in Disney’s planned live action Cinderella movie. Now they’re looking for someone to play the main role, with Variety reporting that Saoirse Ronan (The Host), Alicia Vikander (The Seventh Son), and Gabriella Wilde (Carrie) are testing to play Cinderella.

Disney has been developing the project since 2010, when the studio acquired a pitch by screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna (We Bought a Zoo). Chris Weitz wrote the current screenplay, which Mark Romanek will direct from.

No specific story details have been released as to whether this take departs from the classic story, although the studio hopes to make a big-budget, live-action spectacle in the same vein as Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

The Host Trailer & Poster – Take a look at the Stephenie Meyer adaptation

November 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Twilight comes to an end this week with the release of Breaking Dawn Part 2, and so it’s a good time to launch the full length trailer for the next Stephenie Meyer adaptation, The Host, which is due to hit UK cinemas March 2013.

It’s difficult to see this taking over the world the way Twlight has, but it does look like it might be entertaining.

Saoirse Ronan Books Into The Grand Budapest Hotel

November 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Saoirse Ronan hasn’t really done much in the world of comedy, but she’s going in that direction, even if Wes Anderson doesn’t create your usual type of comedies. Variety reports that Ronan has signed on for a major role in Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel.

No details have been revealed about actress’ character, but that’s not surprising as Anderson has been keeping the plot of the movie under his hat. All that is known about the story is that it is set 85 years ago in a Hungarian hotel. It’s said the film is inspired by classic movies from the likes of Billy Wilder and Ernst Lubitsch.

Bill Murray, Ralph Fiennes, Jude Law, Jason Schwartzman, and Owen Wilson are all attached to star, with production is scheduled to begin next year in Germany.

Saoirse Ronan To Play Mary Queen Of Scots

August 10, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Saoirse Ronan has signed on to star in the title role of Mary Queen of Scots for Working Title and producers Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan. Michael Hirst (Elizabeth and its sequel) is on screenplay duties, with the producers currently seeking a director.

Mary Queen of Scots was crowned the Queen Regnant of Scotland after her father, James V of Scotland, died when she just six days old. Her first husband also became the King of France, making her the queen consort in 1559. He then died the following year.

Her reign went downhill from there, after marrying her first cousin before he was murdered. She then married the man accused of killing her former husband, which caused an uprising that resulted in her imprisonment. After 18 years confinement, she was executed for her alleged part in an assassination attempt on England’s Queen Elizabeth I, Mary’s cousin. She was certainly busy!

If a director can be found in the near future, the producers hope to start filming sometime next year. (Source: Deadline)

Disney Halts Development Of The Order of the Seven

May 23, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When there’s changes at the top of a studio, quite often movies get cancelled and other are put into production. It seems that’s happening at Disney, as the studio has pulled the plug on The Order of the Seven, a new rendition of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs set in Asia, according to THR.

The project had been in development for a while, with Saoirse Ronan signing on to star in February. Disney even hired Iron Man writers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus to polish the script last week. But now all of that development work has been stopped. The studio has been re-evaluating their big-budget projects, after the box office failure of John Carter and the departure of studio head Rich Ross. The Order of the Seven’s budget was not disclosed, although it was a high enough number to have the studio reconsider their options.

The story centred on a woman in 19th Century Hong Kong, who flees from her wicked stepmother and finds solace with seven brave warriors. The men belong to a clan known for fighting dragons and demons. Michael Gracey was slated to make his directorial debut on The Order of the Seven, but it doesn’t seem this project will be moving forward anytime soon.

Jennifer Connelly & Saoirse Ronan Rumoured For Aronofsky’s Noah

April 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The last time Jennifer Connelly teamed up with director Darren Aronofsky, for Requiem For A Dream, it didn’t exactly go well for her character. Hopefully things will go a little better for her if rumours are true the Connelly is in talks to star in Aronofsky’s Noah – even if the film is dealing with the death of virtually every human on the planet.

The Tracking Board has the news, and says that Paramount is also showing interest in Saoirse Ronan for a supporting role. Jennifer Connelly will play Naameh, the wife of Russell Crowe’s title character, with the film giving an action-packed take on the biblical story of The Flood. As for Ronan’s charcter, it isn’t known which character she would play, or indeed whether an offer has been made to the actress yet.

Darren Aronofsky will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ari Handel, with production scheduled to begin in June.

First Pic Of Saoirse Ronan In Vampire Drama Byzantium

February 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Interview With the Vampire director Neil Jordan is returning to the world of bloodsuckers with Byzantium, which stars Saoirse Ronan, Gemma Arterton, Sam Riley, Caleb Landry Jones and Jonny Lee Miller. Now the first image from the movie has arrived, with Saoirse Ronan looking bloody fingered and slightly Red Riding Hood.

Byzantium is about two young women (Ronan and Arterton) who arrive in a nameless British town and claim to be 200-year-old vampires. Local teachers and parents then try to counsel the girls to get to the bottom of their delusions. However, when people start disappearing, people in town must confront the possibility that the two women are, in fact, what they say they are. The film will be out later this year.
