Kumail Nanjiani, Octavia Spencer & John Cena Join Robert Downey Jr. In The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle

March 29, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Just over a year ago it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr. was sett to follow in Rex Harrison’s (and Eddie Murphy’s) footsteps by playing Doctor Dolittle on the big screen. Now the cast has grown, with the likes of Kumail Nanjiani, Octavia Spencer & John Cena, who will be voicing animals alongside the previously announced Tom Holland, Selena Gomez, Emma Thompson, and Ralph Fiennes.

Antonio Banderas is onboard to play a pirate, with Michael Sheen as a character called Mudfly.

To help us picture who everyone in the voice cast will be, Downey Jr. tweeted out and image to show who’s a giraffe, who’s a dog and who’s a parrot. You can take a look at that image below.

The will be based around Hugh Lofting’s famous children’s character, a doctor who tires of treating animals and learns to speak to animals. There’s no news on the exact story for this new version, but it will involve the Doctor will be going off on a big trip. The film is due out April 2019 and is planned as the first part of a new film franchise. [Read more…]

The Current War Trailer – Benedict Cumberbatch’s Thomas Edison wants electrical supremacy!

September 8, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Current War has been doing the round in Hollywood for over five years, but it’s only now that it’s gone in front of the camera. The first trailer for the film has now been release, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as the legendary Thomas Edison.

The movie takes place in the late-1880s and revolves around power titans Edison and George Westinghouse’s as they battle over who will control the supply of electricity in the US. Edison championed direct current (DC) for electric power distribution over Westinghouse’s alternating current (AC), which was backed by several European companies and Westinghouse Electric. It became an increasingly vicious public battle as each side tried to destroy confidence in the other.

Michael Shannon plays Westinghouse, with Katherine Waterston, Tom Holland, Matthew Macfadyen, Tuppence Middleton, and Nicholas Hoult as Nikola Tesla. [Read more…]

What Did Tom Holland Wear Under His Spider-man Suit? Just A Thong!

July 2, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For a long time actors have been talking about the difficulty of superhero costumes, whether it’s the fact that the costume designer often doesn’t think about their need to use the bathroom, or the dicussion that goes on for men about how large their bulge is allowed to be. Now we can add the joys of the thongs to the mix, at least for new Spider-man, Tom Holland.

The young actor is known for not having much of a filter – something that’s led him to leak so many Marvel secrets that they won’t let him know the full plot of Avengers: Infinity War, because they don’t trust him not to blab about it. Now he’s decided to let the world know what he’s got going on under his Spidey-suit.

Talking to Shortlist he says, “All I have on under that costume is a thong. They brought them in on my first day, like, ‘Here are your thongs. I had serious misgivings. ‘Would my arsehole ever be the same again?’. But I had to get used to it, even though I was thinking, ‘No way, no way!’

He continues, “You have to completely disrobe and then put a dressing gown on, but they’re very comfy ones, you can’t walk around in just a thong, can you imagine? And then you race across the lot to the toilet, then come back, get back into it. It’s such a mission.”

Sadly there aren’t any pictures of him in his thong, although someone did catch him in just his undies on the Spider-man: Homecoming set, which you can take a peek at here.

Crush Of The Day: New Spider-man Tom Holland Shows Off His Abs For GQ

June 2, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s probably no surprise that if you’re gonna play Spider-man, you’re gonna have to work out a lot. And Tom Holland doesn’t seem shy about showing off the results of that exercise with a great new pic for GQ, where he’s showing off his very tight abs.

In fact he’s been training for the role of Spidey for a long time, thanks to years of dance training, as well as two years in the cast of Billy Elliott: The Musical in London’s West End. All that flexibility certainly helped him when it came time to audition for the web-slinger.

However, while he was ready for the role, apparently the costume made things more difficult, as “I could only see about five feet in front of me, with no peripheral vision.”

That led to a rather unfortunate incident where, ‘I got punched in the face. I was supposed to dodge it and I just didn’t see it coming. He cracked me in the head. He had this massive gauntlet in his hand, a big metal fist type thing, and he punched me in the face so hard, like you wouldn’t believe. But it looks great! I hope they use it. It’s one of those things where you stand up and you’re angry, like, ‘What the hell, man? You punched me in the head!’ Then you realise it’s entirely your fault.”

Take a look at the pics from GQ below. Spider-man: Homecoming is in cinemas on July 5th. [Read more…]

Final Spider-man: Homecoming Trailer – The web-slinger is back, with a little help from Iron Man

May 24, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Synopsis: ‘A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.’

There’s a lot of excitement about the film, with many expecting it to cement Tom Holland’s reputation as a real star of the future. It’s also looking pretty cool from the new trailer and poster, which you can take a look at below.

The movie will be in cinemas on July 25th. [Read more…]

New Spider-Man Tom Holland Will Take The Lead In Uncharted Adaptation

May 22, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For over eight years Hollywood has been trying to adapt the hit videogame franchise Uncharted, convinced it might be able to break the curse of game-to-film tranfers. In that time it’s been through numerous writers, directors and actors, all of whom have had a go and then left.

They haven’t given up though, and the latest to come onboard to star is Tom Holland, the young British actor who took the world of Marvel by storm as Spider-man in Captain America: Civil War and who will soon be taking on the role again in Homecoming. Holland will play Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie, which was originally being designed for an older actor.

Instead Sony (who are also behind Spider-man: Homecoming, of course) will now reconfigure the movie according to Deadline, to be a prequel to the treasure-hunting videogames, telling the story of ‘young thief Drake, and his first encounter with the professional rogue, Sullivan.’

Shawn Levy (Night At The Museum) is set to direct the movie, with Sony now looking for a new screenwriter to rework the script.

New Spider-man: Homecoming Trailer – Peter Parker has learned some lessons from Iron Man

March 28, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The whole idea of Spider-man joining Marvel’s superhero universe has certainly been intriguing. It was a success with Captain America: Civil War, but now Sony is returning with its own Spidey movie starring Tom Holland, Homecoming. However, they deal between Disney and Marvel means they’re still bridging studios with the film, as it will feature Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.’

The movie will be in cinemas this July. Enjoy the new trailer below. [Read more…]

March 25, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Sony is hoping that love for Tom Holland’s take on Spider-man will extend past Captain America: Civil War, and that plenty of people will turn up for Spider-man: Homecoming. To help get people excited, a couple of new posters have now shown up.

The Lost City Of Z Teaser Trailer – Charlie Hunnam, Tom Holland & Robert Pattinson hunt for El Dorado

December 22, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

How quickly things change. A couple of years again, any film with Robert Pattinson in would have screamed his presence from the rooftops. However, with The Lost City Of Z, you’d hardly know he was there (although the ridiculous beard in the last shot means we probably wouldn’t have recognised him anyway. Instead the focus is on Charlie Hunnam, and to a lesser extent Tom Holland.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Based on author David Grann’s nonfiction bestseller, THE LOST CITY OF Z tells the incredible true story of British explorer Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam), who journeys into the Amazon at the dawn of the 20th century and discovers evidence of a previously unknown, advanced civilization that may have once inhabited the region. An epically-scaled tale of courage and obsession, told in Gray’s classic filmmaking style, THE LOST CITY OF Z is a stirring tribute to the exploratory spirit and those individuals driven to achieve greatness at any cost.’

The movie is due in cinemas next Spring. [Read more…]
