Apropos Of Nothing: Zac Efron & Elmo Teach Us Patience

September 28, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Sesame Street is one of the few shows that can probably have any guest star it wants. Nearly everyone who’s anyone has popped up on it over the years, and now it’s Zac Efron’s turn, who wants to teach us all about patience. Personally I’ll take any lesson Zac wants to teach me.

Zac Efron Asks Are We Officially Dating?

September 1, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Zac Efron could do with a decent hit, and he seems to be hoping the realm of the rom-com is where he’ll find it, as he’s joined the cast of Are We Officially Dating?, a new film that will be looking for buyers at the Toronto International Film Festival next week, according to Variety. (Ed: I’m presuming the movie is based on me and Zac, as he’s always asking me ‘Are We Officially Dating?’, or is that just in my mind?)

The film is about three Manhattan friends who make a pact to remain single. The plot thickens when each friend falls in love shortly after the vow is made (wouldn’t you just know it!). Zac Efron is the first to sign up for the film, with more casting news to likely follow out of Toronto next week.

Tom Gormican will direct from his own screenplay, which was featured on the 2010 Black List. The movie is set to start shooing this November in New York City.

The Lucky One (Blu-ray)

August 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Zac Efron, Taylor Schilling, Blythe Danner, Jay R. Ferguson
Director: Scott Hicks
Running Time: 101 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: August 27th 2012

While Zac Efron could do with a few bona fide hits, there’s no doubt that’s he’s got all the prerequisites for stardom – looks, talent and a rather endearing way about him. He certainly brings all that to The Lucky One, but rather like Charlie St. Cloud, he’s let down by a script and tone that takes things a bit too literally and often undermines itself even if it does have its heart in the right place.

Cut straight from the Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, Dear John) novel template, Efron is Logan, an Iraq soldier who sees a picture of a beautiful woman on the battlefield. Bending down to pick it up saves him from a violent death, which makes him start to think of the woman as a kind of guardian angel. [Read more…]

The Paperboy Trailer – Zac Efron dances in his underpants!

August 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Lee Daniel’s The Paperboy debuted at Cannes, but it’s only now we’re getting a trailer, ahead of its US release in October (no UK date is yet set). The film is about a directionless young man (Zac Efron) who helps his reporter brother (Matthew McConaughey) investigate the possible wrongful conviction of a man on death row (John Cusack), and in the process, falls for the woman whom the convict has been romancing through prison correspondence. It should be out later this year. And as promised in the title of those post, Zac Efron dances in his undies (and therefore it perhaps shouldn’t be too surprising that Lee Daniels is gay).

Zac Efron & More May Join This Is Where I Leave You

May 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Gay director Adam Shankman is heading to cinemas next month with Rock of Ages, but he’s already planning his follow-up, as Deadline reports that he’s working on This Is Where I Leave You, and already has Jason Bateman, Zac Efron, Goldie Hawn and Leslie Mann in talks to star.

The film is an adaptation of the Jonathan Tropper comic novel about four siblings who come home to sit ‘shiva’ for their deceased father. They are trapped in the house for seven days, and all their skeletons are laid bare. Hawn, who hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2002′s The Banger Sisters, is in talks to play the clan’s mother, while Bateman, Efron (who Shankman directed in Hairspray) and Mann would play the siblings.

It’s a great cast, and while the premise doesn’t sound that much fun, there’s plenty of humour in the tale.

Seth Rogen & Zac Efron’s Townies Lands Director Nick Stoller

May 22, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Nick Stoller (The Five-Year Engagement, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) is in negotiations to direct the collegiate comedy Townies for Universal Pictures, which already has Seth Rogen and Zac Efron onboard to star.

The film is about a family man (Seth Rogen), whose peaceful way of life is turned upside down by an obnoxious fraternity member (Zac Efron). The studio picked up the pitch from writers Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien for seven figures last summer.

Seth Rogen is also producing alongside longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg, with Andrew J. Cohen, Brendan O’Brien, and James Weaver executive producing. It isn’t known when it might shoot. (Source: THR)

First The Paperboy Clip – Lee Daniels’ follow-up to Precious

May 11, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s been an uphill struggle for gay director Lee Daniels to make a follow-up to Previous, but now he’s got The Paperboy, which will debut in competition at Cannes later this month. The first clip has now been released, with Matthew McConaughey’s reporter talking to John Cusack about a murder. The film is about a directionless young man (Zac Efron) who helps his reporter brother (McConaughey) investigate the possible wrongful conviction of a man on death row (Cusack), and in the process, falls for the woman whom the convict has been romancing through prison correspondence. It shoulld be out later this year.

Did Zac Efron Drop A Condom On The Red Carpet?

February 24, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We’re all for playing safe at BGPS, but if you’re gonna carry a condom around with you, it’s probably best not to have it loose in you pocket. A lot of people are saying Zac Efron has learned the perils of unsecured condoms at the premiere on his latest movie, The Lorax.

While the evidence in the video above is ambiguous, his giggly, embarrassed reaction suggests he did indeed drop a condom on the red carpet. Some have been asking why he was taking a condom to the premiere of a kid’s flick, but this is Zac Efron we’re talking about, a man who could pull at the top of Everest, so it’s probably a good idea for him to keep a ‘just in case’ rubber on him at all times!

Efron voices the main human character in the animated movie The Lorax, which is released in the US on March 2nd, but doesn’t come to the UK until July.

Take a look at the video above and see if you think it was a condom he dropped.

BGPS’s Advent Calendar Of Buff Blokes: Day 19 – Zac Efron

December 19, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Last week an image emerged which appeared to show Zac Efron wearing a t-shirt in support of gay marriage (we’ve included it in the gallery below). Sadly it now looks like the picture was a fake, but it’s still a good excuse to include Zac in our Advent Calendar of gorgeous guys.

Zac is pretty gay friendly though, having once told an interviewer about rumours he has a hankering for other men, “Honestly, if the worst these people can say about me is that I’m gay, then I think I’ll be fine. I can handle it.”

The 24-year-old still hasn’t quite outgrown his teen idol days, but he’s having a good go at it, helped immensely by the fact he’s almost painfully handsome. It’s also nice that he often seems to be slightly allergic to shirts. Click on the pics below to enjoy our pre-Christmas gallery of the best of the Zefron. [Read more…]

Zac Efron Shows Gay Marriage Support In New Image

December 15, 2011 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

UPDATE: It’s since been revealed that this pic was faked, based on an old pic of Zac wearing a plain white t-shirt. He’s still gay-friendly though, even if he doesn’t generally wear t-shirts about dudes marrying dudes.

Original post: Any day that offers a new image of Zac Efron is a good day, but it’s even better when the young hunk is showing his support for marriage equality on a t-shirt.

The only thing left is to try and convince Zac that he should be included in the list of dudes who want to marry dudes and that he should marry me!

In case you were wondering, the t-shirt comes from a site called FCKH8.com, which makes a donation for every item they sell in their fashion range to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender causes. They claim to have raised over $250,000 (€193,000) for gay charities, and will undoubtedly raise a bit more now that Zac’s given them a little free publicity.
