New Star Trek Into Darkness Zachary Quinto & Zoe Saldana Posters & TV Spot Land

April 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Over the weekend, three new posters were released for Star Trek Into Darkness. One shows the Enterprise in deep, deep trouble, which as the last trailer revealed ends badly with the ship crashing to earth. The others are character posters, with Zoe Saldana’s Uhuru and Zachary Quinto’s Spock.

The posters have been released via Apple, and there’s a few spaces left on the page, suggesting we’ll get a few more over the coming days, leading up to a brand new trailer.

Last night’s MTV Movie Awards also brought us a new TV spot, which you can watch above. The film is out May 9th in the UK and May 17th in the US.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Gets Zoe Saldana As Gamora

April 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Zoe-SalandaPhase Two of Marvel’s cinematic universe is moving forward fast, with the latest news being that Zoe Saldana is in talks to play the female lead Gamora in ensemble adventure Guardians of the Galaxy, according to THR.

Gamora made her first appearance in the Marvel comic books back in 1975. She is a green-skinned assassin who is the last of a race that was wiped out by the Baldoon. She is also the adopted daughter of the villain Thanos, who made his presence known during the end credit scene of Marvel’s The Avengers.
Gamora’s powers include super-human strength, agility, and healing abilities.

If her deal is finalised, she’ll join Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista in the movie. James Gunn is directing the film which will star shooting in the UK in June – just after Saldana has completed doing the publicity rounds for Star Trek Into Darkness.

February 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Star-Trek-Into-Darkness-pic2
Star Trek Into Darkness is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated movies of the year, with audiences keen to see where JJ Abrams will take the franchise after completely rebooting it a couple of years ago. To help up the excitement, EW has debuted five new images from the film, including looks at Chris Pine’s Kirk, Zachary Quinto’s Spock, Zoe Saldana’s Uhuru and Benedict Cumberbatch’s villainous John Harrison.

And who’s betting the red shirt surrounding Harrison don’t make it to the final credits?

Here’s the official synopsis: ‘In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

‘With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.’

The film hits cinemas May 17th, 2013.

New The Words Trailer – Bradley Cooper becomes a plagiarist

August 1, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Words premiered at Sundance, but it’s only due to hit US cinemas on September 7th, and no UK release has been officially set yet. Now a new trailer has arrived, to whet our appetites. The romantic drama follows writer Rory Jansen who finally achieves long sought after literary success after publishing the next great American novel. There’s only one catch – he didn’t write it. As the past comes back to haunt him and his literary star continues to rise, Jansen is forced to confront the steep price that must be paid for stealing another man’s work, and for placing ambition and success above life’s most fundamental three words.

Sam Shepard Jumps Out Of The Furnace

April 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While Christian Bale and Zoe Saldana have been attached to Out Of The Furnace for a while, it’s only now that Relativity Media have closed deals with Bale and Saldana, along with Casey Affleck and Sam Shepard, to star in the film, with the last of those a new addition to the cast.

Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) will direct, with Bale as older Russell Baze alongside Affleck, who will play his younger brother Rodney Baze Jr. Saldana is Bale’s love interest Lena Warren, while Shepard will play Red, Russell and Rodney Baze’s uncle. Production is set to begin in Braddock, Pennsylvania later this month.

The film is a drama about fate, circumstance, and redemption. Russell and his younger brother live in the economically depressed Rust Belt, and have always dreamed of escaping and finding better lives. But when a cruel twist of fate lands Russell in prison, his brother is lured into one of the most violent and ruthless crime rings in the Northeast – a mistake that will almost cost him everything. Once released, Russell must choose between his own freedom, or risk it all to seek justice for his brother. (Source: Variety)

Billy Bob Thornton May Come Out Of The Furnace

March 23, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Crazy Heart helmer Scott Cooper signed up to direct Out Of The Furnace well over a year ago, and even by that point the script had been doing the rounds for quite a while, going through the hands of Ridley Scott and others. However now things are finally coming together, with Cooper busy putting the cast together.

Christian Bale and Zoe Saldana are already attached, and now Deadline reports that Billy Bob Thornton and Forest Whitaker are in talks to join them, playing lowlife characters. The movie is about an ex-con (Bale) who goes on a vengeful rampage right after his release from prison, in order to avenge the murder of his younger brother. Saldana is set to play Bale’s long-suffering girlfriend. Viggo Mortensen was said to be in line for the main villain role, but he’s now apparently passed, as that’s the part Thornton is being lined up for, while Whitaker will be a sleazy bookie.

Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) is directing Out of the Furnace from his own script, which is based on Brad Ingelsby’s screenplay, The Low Dweller. Production is due to start fairly soon, as Bale wants to slot it in before he sets off on a promotional press tour for The Dark Knight Rises, and then goes to work for Terrence Malick on a couple of movies.

Megan Fox and Zoe Saldana Board Swindle

March 16, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A movie that’s happening purely because two young actresses want to work together perhaps isn’t the best reason to make a film, but it appears that’s what’s happening with Swindle, which Deadline reports has been snapped up by Paramount with Zoe Saldana and Megan Fox attached.

The plot of the action movie is being kept under wraps, but Swindle came out of a desire by the actresses, who are already friends, to do a movie together. Moneyball producer Michael De Luca will produce the project with the help of Saldana & Fox, working from a script by Enzo Mileti and Scott Wilson.

This project is still in early development and no director is attached.

Zoe Saldana Coming Out Of The Furnace

March 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Nothing is set in stone yet, but Variety reports that Avatar actress Zoe Saldana is in early talks to join the Scott Cooper’s crime thriller Out Of The Furnace, joining Christian Bale who signed up for the movie a few weeks ago.

The movie is about an ex-con (Bale) who goes on a vengeful rampage right after his release from prison, in order to avenge the murder of his younger brother. Saldana is circling the role of Bale’s ex-wife, who is now married to the town’s sheriff. Robert Duvall is expected to play Christian Bale’s uncle, while Viggo Mortensen may be the villain.

Benicio Del Toro Wanted For Star Trek 2

November 7, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

It may have taken them quite a while to get Star Trek 2 sorted, but things finally seem to be moving forwards on the movie, with JJ Abrams once more at the helm. Now it appears Abrams has decided who he wants as the villain, as Variety reports he’s met Benicio Del Toro about the role.

A formal offer has not been made to the actor, but Abrams and Del Toro have had a meeting and it is believed Paramount will issue the offer very soon. Abrams, who’s well known for being secretive, is said to be being so cagey about the villainous part, he wouldn’t even tell Benicio what it was when they met.

Shooting is scheduled to start in early 2012, with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, and Anton Yelchin all expected to return.

First Pic Of Bradley Cooper In The Words

November 1, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

It must be ‘first pics of BradleyCooper in films’ day or something, as the first images of him in both The Place Beyond The Pines and The Words have popped up online. The image above (via CinemaBlend) is from The Words, where Zoe Saldana seems to be using him as a blanket. The film is about an author (Cooper) who becomes massively successful after stealing another writer’s lost work and claiming it as his own. Unsurprisingly he must eventually pay the price for his theft. It’s not known when it will be released.

Below you can see pics from The Place Beyond The Pines, which sees Ryan Gosling reunite with Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance, along with Cooper. The film also sees Gosling once more playing a stuntman (as in Drive), but this time on motorbikes. He plays a stunt rider who who turns to bank robberies to support his newborn son, but when he crosses paths with a rookie police officer (Cooper) their violent confrontation spirals into a tense generational fued.
