Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa Trailer – Johnny Knoxville puts on some craggy make-up

August 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Many were surprised a couple of weeks ago when it was announced a new Jackass movie was on the way, especially as it had already been shot and far enough down the line that Paramount slotted it into an October 25th release date (which has been vacated when they decided to delay Paranormal Activity 5).

Now the trailer for the movie has arrived, showing us that this is slightly different to previous movie. Johnny Knoxville puts of his Irving Zisman old-man make-up for movie, which will be partly improvised and partially scripted. As the trailer shows though, it’s still crammed with Jackass-style madness.

Here’s the synopsis: ’86 year-old Irving Zisman is on a journey across America with the most unlikely companions, his 8 year-old Grandson Billy in “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa.” This October, the signature Jackass character Irving Zisman (Johnny Knoxville) and Billy (Jackson Nicoll) will take movie audiences along for the most insane hidden camera road trip ever captured on camera.

‘Along the way Irving will introduce the young and impressionable Billy to people, places and situations that give new meaning to the term childrearing. The duo will encounter male strippers, disgruntled child beauty pageant contestants (and their equally disgruntled mothers), funeral home mourners, biker bar patrons and a whole lot of unsuspecting citizens.

‘Real people in unreal situations, making for one really messed up comedy.’ [Read more…]

James Cameron Hires Josh Friedman To Help With The Avatar 2 Script

Sam Worthington in Avatar

Sam Worthington in Avatar

James Cameron has been working on Avatar 2 & 3 ever since the first film hit it big, but it’s only fairly recently he got properly busy on the script (he’d spent most of the time getting the technical side ready). Now he’s decided to draft in a little help, as The Wrap reports that he’s hired Josh Friedman to help polish the screenplay for the second movie.

Friedman has a history of following on from Cameron’s work, as he created TV’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (a show it was though Cameron wasn’t too thrilled about when it started airing).

Nobody has confirmed the story yet, but it’s not a surprising development as it’s known Cameron brought in help on the first film, and with Fox still pushing for a later 2015 release for Avatar 2, they need to get the screenplay ready as soon as possible, as filming will have to begin relatively quickly.

Extended Elysium Trailer – Fresh look at the Matt Damon sci-fi

July 31, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A new, longer trailer for Elysium has arrived, which gives us a great feel for the look and plot of Neill Blomkamps’s movie. It certainly look pretty cool, with great visuals and an interesting idea behind it.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.’

Neill Blomkamp’s film hits US cinemas on August 9th and the UK on August 26th. [Read more…]

Sandra Bullock Is Lost In Space In A New Gravity IMAX Poster

July 31, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

gravity-imax-posterLast week Warner Bros really ramped up the promotion of Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity with a trio of single-shot trailers that showed off the director’s attempt to tell the tale with as few cuts as possible (see them here and here). Now an IMAX poster has arrived, designed to show that perhaps this is a movie you need to see on a massive screen (especially if Sandra Bullock is going to be that tiny in it).

The movie sees George Clooney and Sandra Bullock getting into immense amounts of trouble when their shuttle is hit by debris from a satellite the Russians have been trying to decommission. Bullock is sent flying off into space, with seemingly no way to get back to Earth – especially as there are communication troubles.

It’s out in October.

Ethan Hawke Going Shakespearean Again For Cymbeline

July 31, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ethan-hawkeEthan Hawke likes a bit of Shakespeare, whether on stage or in the likes of his 1999 film version of Hamlet. Now he’s book another Bardic role, taking on his lesser known play Cymbeline, with Hawke reteaming with Hamlet director Michael Almereyda for the film.

As with their earlier film it’ll be a modern day take, although retaining the original text. Variety reports that, ‘The film will portray a battle between dirty cops and a drug dealing biker gang set in a corruption-riddled 21st century America. Shakespeare’s play centered on the daughter of the British king Cymbeline, who discovers she has secretly married a man raised in her father’s court, resulting in his banishment from the court.’

The film starts shooting August 19th in New York, which should allow Hawke some time to prepare for another Shakespearean role, as he’s due to star in a stage version of Macbeth in November.

Nicolas Cage Sees Paul Schrader’s Dying Of The Light

July 31, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Nicholas-CagePaul Schrader’s much talked about The Canyons is finally hitting US cinemas next month, and now he’s preparing for his next film. He’s been talking to the people at The Playlist, telling them that he’s lining up Nicolas Cage to star in his movie, The Dying Of The Light.

Schrader isn’t the first to take on Schrader’s script for the movie, as in 2010 Nicolas Winding Refn was attached to helm, but pulled out when over creative differences with his star at the time, Harrison Ford. Now it seems Schrader is set to helm himself, although it appears Refn may still produce.

The movies is about ‘a C.I.A. agent who starts to become afflicted with blindness while on his last mission’. There’s no news on exactly when it might shoot.

David Oyelowo & David Gyasi Join Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar

July 31, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

David-OyelowoChristopher Nolan seems keen to have just about everybody in Interstellar. The likes of Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Bill Irwin, Casey Affleck, Mackenzie Foy, John Lithgow, Wes Bentley and Topher Grace have already signed up. Now they’ve been joined by David Oyelowo (Lee Daniels’ the Butler) and David Gyasi (Cloud Atlas).

The movie revolves around a journey into outer space that pushes humanity’s knowledge of science and technology. The film was initially inspired based on the scientific theories of Kip S. Thorne, who believes that wormholes exist and can be used for time travel. Christopher Nolan is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with his brother Jonathan Nolan.

Nolan is being predictably secretive about the specifics of his film though, so there’s no news on who any of the actors will play.

The film will shoot later this year, with a November 7th, 2014 release date already set.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past Viral Video – Meet the Sentinels and Peter Dinklage’s Trask Industries

July 31, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

X-Men: Days Of Future Past isn’t out until May 23rd, 2013, but Fox is starting the hype early, hoping plenty of people will be getting excited about the old X-Men teaming up with the First Class cast. Now we’ve got a viral video, introducing us to Trask Industries, run by Peter Dinklage’s Bolivar Trask, and the Sentinels, robots that ‘protect’ the near future from mutants, who’ve been rounded up and locked away.

The only way to stop them is for Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen to send Hugh Jackman into the past (or at least their X-Men characters will) so that he can try and convince the likes of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender that they must prevent an assassination and in doing so prevent the rise of the sentinels.

You can also see a few pics of the Sentinels from the Trask Industries website, as well as a gif of Dinklage as Bolivar, below.
