Jeff Goldblum Is Returning To The Dinosaurs For Jurassic World 2

April 26, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When Jurassic World rebooted the Jurassic Park franchise, the only original character we saw was Richard Attenborough’s John Hammond, and even then only in statue form. However, for the follow-up, Ian Malcolm will be back and once more in the form of Jeff Goldblum, according to THR.

It’s not known what role he will play in the movie, but it’s safe to say he’ll be back in know-it-all form, and probably once more suggesting the plans for the dinosaurs aren’t going to work out. However, having survived the first two movies, he’ll likely be a handy person to have around.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will be back for Jurassic World 2, and they’ll be joined by Justice Smith, James Cromwell and Toby Jones. J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) is directing, with a June 2018 release date set.

New The Beguiled Trailer – Nicole Kidman & Colin Farrell star in Sofia Coppola’s latest

April 22, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Following Marie Antoinette, Kirsten Dunst and director Sofia Coppola are getting back into period drama territory with The Beguiled. And they’re bringing the likes of Nicole Kidman, Colin Farrell, Elle Fanning and Angourie Rice along with them. The movie is The Beguiled, based on Thomas P. Cullinan’s novel A Painted Devil, which was previously turned into a 1971 movie starring Clint Eastwood.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The Beguiled is an atmospheric thriller from acclaimed writer/director Sofia Coppola. The story unfolds during the Civil War, at a Southern girls’ boarding school. Its sheltered young women take in an injured enemy soldier. As they provide refuge and tend to his wounds, the house is taken over with sexual tension and dangerous rivalries, and taboos are broken in an unexpected turn of events.’

The results is a very complicated love quadrangle as the headmistress, a teacher and a student all develop a relationship with the guest.

The Beguiled is due out in cinemas in June. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Callum Turner Will Be Eddie Redmayne’s Brother In Fantastic Beasts 2

April 22, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It looks like we’re going to meet some of Newt Scamander’s relatives in the second Fantastic Beasts movie, as Variety reports that Callum Turner (Green Room, War & Peace), will play Newt’s brother.

No info about his role in the plot has been released, although it’s been suggested the character will be called Theseus Scamander, so perhaps there will be some echoes of the Greek hero who fought the minotaur. As well as Newt and his brother, the film will follow a troubled young Dumbledore, with the planned next four movies charting how he ended up in a climactic battle with Johnny Depp’s evil Grindelwald.

David Yates will one more direct the Paris-set sequel, which is due to start shooting this summer, for release at the end of 2018.

There are also plenty out there interested in whether Dumbledore will be shown as gay in the movies, and whether that involved a relationship with Grindelwald.

Margot Robbie Will Be Queen Elizabeth In Mary Queen of Scots

April 22, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Margot Robbie is planning to get into a bit of historical drama, as Variety reports she’s signed up to play Queen Elizabeth in Mary Queen Of Scots. Saoirse Ronan is already onboard to play the title role, with Josie Rourke directing.

As the title suggests, the movie with follow the Catholic Mary, who certainly led a dramatic life, with her first husband murdered and then marrying the murder accused of killing him. She was then forced to abdicate and fled to England. However, as Mary had previously claimed Elizabeth’s throne, she was captured and locked up. She was kept hidden away in various manors for over 18 years, becoming an increasing problem, especially as many English Catholics viewed her as the legitimate queen. Eventually she was implicated in a plot to overthrow Elizabeth and executed.

Beau Willimon (House Of Cards) wrote the script. The movie has yet to be greenlit, but assuming it is, it will shoot later this year.

Lost In London Trailer – Take a look A Woody Harrelson’s live movie

April 19, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There have been feature-films shot in one take before, but early this year Woody Harrelson decided to take this one step further. Not content with making a film with one camera in a single unbroken take, he decided it should be transmitted live to cinemas at the same time.

That meant that only a limited amount of people got to see it at the time, but now it’s heading for a wider release, so everyone can take a look at at Lost In London. The movie got pretty good reviews on its live debut, and the new trailer certainly makes it look fun.

In the film Woody plays a fictionalised version of himself, as he makes his way across London as he becomes the subject of a tabloid scandal and discovers that even his fame can’t help him. The likes of Owen Wilson and even Willie Nelson co-star.

The movie will be in certain cinemas in the UK from late April, with a screening plus Q&A with Harrelson on April 30th. You can fin out more at Picturehouses.co.uk.  [Read more…]

Will Smith May Be The Genie In Disney’s Live-Action Aladdin

April 19, 2017 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Recently Will Smith turned down the opportunity to take a major role in Tim Burton’s live-action take on Dumbo. However, it turns out that might have been because he had a different Disney role in mind, as he’s in talks to voice the Genie in the studio’s planned live-action version of Aladdin, according to Deadline.

He’s very early in talks at the moment, so he may end up walking away from the role, as he did with Dumbo, but at the moment he’s the one in the frame. If he does take the role, he’ll have big shoes to fill, as Robin Williams take on the the lamp-living Genie is one of the greatest Disney characters. Although Smith can be good a larger-than-life comedy characters, it’s still a major challenge.

John August is on screenplay duties, with Guy Ritchie set to direct. At the moment, no one has been announced for the title role, although it has been said that after numerous controversy over white-washing in movies in recent years, that Disney is looking a lead actors who have Arabian heritage. We’ll have to wait and see who they choose.

Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck Will Direct Captain Marvel

April 19, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Last June Brie Larson signed on to play the title role in the superhero flick, Captain Marvel. At the time the studio was supposedly narrowing in on their choice of director, but it’s only now that they’ve found the people they want, as Variety reports that Half Nelson and Mississippi Grind’s Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are set to helm.

While Marvel met with various female directors last summer, they eventually decided to wait until the script was in better shape before honing in on their final choice.

Different incarnations of Captain Marvel have been both male and female in the comics, but for the movies they are concentrating on Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with the super powers of strength, energy projection and flight.

Danvers has been part of The Avengers in the comics, and so should be a good fit as Marvel prepares for a future when the likes of Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth may want to leave the cinematic universe. Inside Out‘s Meg LeFauve and Guardians of the Galaxy Nicole Perlman have come up with the script. The film is due out March 2019.

American Assassin Trailer – Dylan O’Brien turns CIA black ops in order to stop Taylor Kitsch

April 18, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s been a fair amount of interest in American Assassin, partly due to the popularity of Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp novels, which many have suggested are long overdue a trip to the big screen. Now the first trailer has arrived, which you can take a look at below.

First Look At Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper In A Star Is Born Remake

April 17, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With a quick glance at the pic above, you might be thinking the title of this post is a lie. But while she looks a little different to the often outlandish and poised pop star she normally is, that is indeed Lady Gaga with Bradley Cooper in the pic above. However, it looks like she’ll be going by her real name, Stefani Germanotta, for the movie.

Warner Brothers describes the movie as a reimagining of the classic A Star Is Born, which has come to the screen three times before, in 1937 with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March, in 1950 with Judy Garland and James Mason and in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.

In this version Bradley Cooper will be country music star Jackson Maine, who’s career is on the skids. He discovers Ally (Germanotta) and helps her find huge success. While they begin to fall for one another, things become increasingly difficult as his career fails while hers goes through the roof.

As well as starring, the film will also mark Bradley Cooper’s feature directorial debut. Don’t expect to see the movie for a while though, as it’s not currently due out until September 2018. It’s likely the first pic was released due to the fact that Gaga has been onstage at Coachella filming the movie in the last few days.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer – Rey, Finn, Poe, Leia & Luke are striking back

April 14, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

If you were hoping for the first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi to give you a full rundown of the plot, you’ll be disappointed. Instead – and as most expected – it’s more about teasing the movie and getting people excited. Plot-wise, all we learn is the Rey will be practicing her Jedi skills and that the bad guys think the Jedi should end.

Nothing too surprising there then!

It does all look pretty cool though, with the return of Finn, Poe and Rey, as well as a glimpse of Leia and the voice of Luke Skywalker. There’s also plenty of drama, Kylo Ren looking suitable evil, and som spaceship action.

Take a look at the first trailer and poster below. [Read more…]
