Christian Bale Gets The Creed of Violence

August 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Now he’s free of the Bat, Christian Bale has spent time working with Terrence Malick and now he’s looking for new projects and is in talks to star in The Creed of Violence for writer/director Todd Field (In the Bedroom).

The film is adapted from Boston Teran’s novel, set during the 1910 Mexican Revolution. It follows Rawbone, a two-bit assassin, and John Lourdes, a Bureau of Investigation officer, who are forced to work together to penetrate the Mexican underworld. Christian Bale is in negotiations to play Rawbone, although there is no guarantee at the moment that a deal will be finalised.

Last October Leonardo DiCaprio was offered both the Rawbone and John Lourdes roles. It isn’t known if he is still in the mix to play the federal law man, although as there’s no mention of him, probably not. Field is eyeing an early 2013 shoot start. (Source: Variety)

Octavia Spencer Joins Baggage Claim

August 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Octavia Spencer is now an Oscar-winner, allowing her to have a far greater pick of projects. Now she has joined the cast of Baggage Claim for Fox Searchlight Pictures and writer-director David E. Talbert, according to Deadline.

Back in May Paula Patton signed on to star as Montana Moore, a flight attendant who is the oldest, unmarried woman in her family. She goes on a cross-country trek to find a husband in 30 days, before her younger sister gets hitched. No details are currently known regarding Octavia Spencer’s character. Derek Luke is also starring in an unspecified role.

David E. Talbert (First Sunday) is directing from his own screenplay, which he adapted from his novel of the same name. Shooting is slated to begin in September.

Jennifer Ehle Circling RoboCop

August 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For a long time Jennifer Ehle found it difficult to escape the shadow of Pride & Prejudice, but she’s found fresh impetus thanks to the likes of The Ides Of March, The King’s Speech and Contagion. Now she’s in talks to join José Padilha’s remake of the 1987 action movie RoboCop.

The actress would play the role of Liz Kline, although absolutely nothing is known about the character at the moment. If she signs on she’ll stars alongside Joel Kinnaman, Jackie Earle Haley, Gary Oldman, Hugh Laurie, Abbie Cornish and Samuel L. Jackson, working from a script by Joshua Zetumer.

It isn’t clear when the movie might shoot, but an August 9th, 2013 release date has already been set. (Source: Deadline)

Will Russell Crowe Take On The Dark Tower?

August 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ron Howard has grand plans for The Dark Tower, initially setting up it up as a trilogy at Universal Pictures, with two limited-run TV series’ to air between the movies. However the studio was nervous and wouldn’t commit to the entire thing, and so they dropped it.

More recently Warner Bros has been sniffing around and now Deadline reports the studio is about to receive a new version of the script by Akiva Goldsman, and that Russell Crowe may be stepping in to play Roland Deschain, a role previously set for Javier Bardem. The studio will make their decision on whether or not to give a green light to the ambitious project within the next two weeks.

Crowe’s involvement isn’t definite yet, but the actor has been discussing it with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, and getting an A-list star may be a key component in getting this ambitious project off the ground. The film is about Deschain, the last in a long line of gunfighters, who journeys to The Dark Tower in a last-ditch effort to save humanity, based on Stephen King’s seven-part book series.

Kristen Stewart On For Lie Down in Darkness

August 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It seems Kristen Stewart hasn’t just spent the last couple of weeks issuing apologies for cheating and watching her relationship with Robert Pattinson implode, she’s also been signing up for a new movie. Vulture reports that Stewart has landed the lead role in Lie Down in Darkness, an adaptation of William Styron’s novel, which is set to be directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart).

The actress will play Peyton Loftis, a young woman at the centre of a dysfunctional family in 1950s Virginia. Peyton’s beauty has caused her mother to become jealous and hateful towards her, while the woman’s alcoholic father lusts after her. She also has a crippled sister named Maudie. Sounds like a cheerful one then.

The movie has been eyeing Jennifer Lawrence, but she will be busy for the next six months or so shooting The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and X-Men: Days of Future Past back-to-back.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Gets Lynn Cohen as Mags

August 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment
