July 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Hell & Back already has a huge cast list of great talents, but they’ve now decided to add one more, as Deadline reports that Susan Sarandon has signed up to play an angel called Barb in the R-rated, stop-motion animated movie.

In the movie, Nick Swardson and TJ Miller voice two buddies who must rescue their pal who has been accidentally dragged to Hell. Jennifer Coolidge and Maria Bamford also have been added to the voice cast, which already includes Mila Kunis, Danny McBride, Bob Odenkirk, Kerri Kenney, Michael Pena, David Koechner, JB Smoove, Brian Posehn, Greg Proops, Seth Morris and Jay Johnston.

It’s Mother’s Day For Andie MacDowell & Her Daughter

July 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Andie MacDowell is going to have something to do other than hawk anti-ageing potions, as she’s signed up to star in the indie flick Mother’s Day. As you’ve probably guessed, this isn’t another remake of the horror flick of the same name, or indeed a Garry Marshall type movie based around a particular day.

Instead it’s an ensemble family drama that follows the relationships of six mothers and their daughters. MacDowell’s real-life daughter, Rainey Qualley, has also been cast in the movie. Real mothers and daughters seems to be a theme for the movie, as Susan Sarandon and her daughter Eva Amurri Martino are also set to star. Christina Ricci is also onboard, but unfortunately there’s little info on any of the characters these people will play.

Paul Duddridge is on writing directing duties, although there’s no info on exactly when it might shoot. (Source: Deadline)

Will Ferrell Flick Flamingo Thief Gets Director Craig Gillespie

July 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Fright Night director Craig Gillespie is in negotiations to direct Flamingo Thief for Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films. The movie already has Will Ferrell attached to star in what could be an interestingly quirky film.

Ferrell will play the title character, a distraught lawyer who becomes obsessed with stealing pink flamingos from his neighbuors, after his wife leaves him for another man.

Michael LeSieur (You, Me and Dupree) wrote the screenplay, which landed on the 2011 Black List. The script is adapted from Susan Trott’s novel of the same name.

It isn’t known when the movie might shoot. (Source: Variety)

The Tall Man Trailer – Jessica Biel has supernatural troubles

July 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jessica Biel has a lot of weird stuff to deal with in The Tall Man, as when her child goes missing, she must unravel the legend of the Tall Man, an entity that allegedly abducts children. As in The Woman In Black, is does make you wonder why people with kids would stick around an area where children keep mysteriously disappearing, but it certainly adds jeopardy to movie. The film should be out later this year.

Luc Besson Takes On Valerian Comic Adaptation

July 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A few years ago, Luc Besson was going to retire, and indeed he did take a bit of a break from directing, but he never got over the filmmaking bug, writing and producing all sorts of movies, and more recently directing the likes of The Lady and Adele Blanc-Sec. Now he’s planning another movie, an adaptation of the French sci-fi comic, Valerian.

Created by Pierre Christian and artist Jean-Claude Mezieres in 1967, the graphic novels are about a time-travelling agent and his female sidekick, Laureline. Besson is obviously a big fan of Mezieres, as he hired him as a conceptual designer on The Fifth Element.

There’s no news on when Valerian might shoot, or indeed if it’ll be an English-language project or not. Besson is going to be busy for a while, as he’s currently gearing up to film Malavita, with Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer starring. (Source: Variety)

Justin Long Up For The Ten O’clock People

July 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s been a slight lull in the amount of Stephen King adaptations recently, but there are a huge amount in the works, including a film version of The Ten O’Clock People, one of the novellas in Nightmares & Dreamscapes. Now Justin Long is in talks to take the lead role in the movie, according to Deadline.

The movie will bring the 1993 story up to date, with Long as Brandon Pearson, who attempts to quit smoking and uncovers unknown and terrifying aspects of reality that you can only see if you’re trying to kick the habit. He realises that many of those in positions of power aren’t really human, and are instead inhuman monsters.

The movie start shooting on September 10th in New York.

Oscar Isaac Joins Two Faces Of January, Opposite Viggo Mortensen

July 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Hossein Amini, the screenwriter of Drive, must have been impressed with Oscar Isaac’s perfomance in the Ryan Gosling film, as he’s now cast him in his directorial debut, The Two Faces Of January, opposite Viggo Mortensen, according to Variety.

The film is an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s crime novel, about an unlikely trio made up of a con artist, his wife and an American student, whose fates are bound together following the murder of a police officer. While Variety doesn’t say who will play which part, although presumably Mortensen will be the the con man, named Chester MacFarland, with Isaac playing the American student, Rydal Keener.

Isaac will be seen later this summer in The Bourne Legacy and also has the title role in the Coen Brothers’ upcoming movie, Inside Llewyn Davis.

July 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Olympus Has Fallen already has Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Angela Bassett onboard, and now it’s added a new name, with Variety reporting that Dylan McDermott has signed up for the Antoine Fuqua movie.

The film sees the White House taken over by terrorists and Butler’s Secret Service agent having to take it back. McDermott is set to play a fellow Secret Service agent, although there’s no info on exactly how he fits into a plot. Eckhart will be the President.

It’s not the only film with this plot of the cards, as Roland Emmerich is putting together White House Down, with Channing Tatum in the lead role.
