If a child just turned up on your doorstep, would you keep him, or would you phone child services? While 99.9% of the population would do the latter, Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton just decide to keep him, believing he’s the embodiment of a wish they made to have a child. Presumably their right, as this is a Disney movie and not some hard-hitting tale about weird, delusional parents. Now a new trailer for the film has arrived. It’s out in the US in August, but no UK date is set yet.

Rachel McAdams Up For Richard Curtis’ About Time
For a while now, Richard Curtis has been working on his next directorial venture, a time-travel comedy called About Time. A few weeks ago Zooey Dechanel was in talks for the female lead, but it seems she’s moved on, as THR reports that Rachel McAdams is now in discussions to take on the role.
Domhnall Gleeson is set to play a young man who discovers he has the ability to travel back in time. While this might sound like a rather cool power, but it begins to cause more trouble than it’s worth when he meets the woman of his dreams (McAdams). Bill Nighy, Tom Hollander, Lydia Wilson and Vanessa Kirby are also set to star.
You’d have thought McAdams might have had enough of temporally problematic lovers in The Tim Traveller’s Wife, but if things pan out, she’ll shoot About Time this summer.
Robert de Niro Confirmed for ‘Old Guys Hangover’ Last Vegas
A couple of weeks ago rumours emerged that Robert De Niro was considering starring in the comedy Last Vegas, alongside two-time Oscar-winner Michael Douglas. Now THR reports he’s officially onboard what’s been described as a retirement-age Hangover.
Directed by Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure) from a screenplay by Dan Fogelman (Crazy Stupid Love), Last Vegas is a comedy about four old friends who decide to throw a Las Vegas bachelor party for the only one of them who has remained single. De Niro will play the party-averse Paddy Connelly, who reluctantly agrees to fly to Vegas at the request of his friends. Douglas will play Billy Gerson, a lifelong bachelor, who has finally decided to take the plunge into marriage.
The film will be shopped to distributors at Cannes, with plans to start shooting later this year.
Catherine Zeta-Jones Joins Red 2, With The Original Team Returning
After Red turned into a decent sized hit, Summit Entertainment has been keen on a sequel, which is now moving forward with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung-hun Lee added to the cast. The sequel also reunites Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, and Helen Mirren, according to Deadline.
Dean Parisot directs from a screenplay by Erich Hoeber and Jon Hoeber, who also wrote the script for the first movie. Red 2 brings back the team of retired CIA operatives as they use their old-school style to take on a new set of enemies all across Europe.
There’s no more details on the plot that that, or info on who Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung-hun Lee might be playing. Rumours have also suggested Morgan Freeman may return too, even if those who’ve seen the first movie may be wondering how. The film is scheduled to be released on August 2, 2013.
Chloe Moretz & Paddy Considine On For Zombie Story Maggie
Chloe Moretz is in cinemas today with Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, but she’s already busy lining up future projects, with Variety reporting that the 15-year-old is in talks to star in Maggie for Inferno Entertainment and director Henry Hobson.
The story centres on a father’s unconditional love for his daughter, which is put to the test after a widespread zombie epidemic. Chloe Moretz is negotiating to play the daughter, while Paddy Considine has entered discussions to portray the loving father.
Chloe Moretz seems to to like horror, as he has already played a vampire in Let Me In, and is attached to the title role in a remake of Carrie.
Guillermo Del Toro Co-Directing Pinocchio
For several years now, Guillermo Del Toro has been developing a new version of Pinocchio, and has most recently been working with The Jim Henson Company to make it a reality. However Del Toro was originally set to just produce and co-write, but now Variety reports that Guillermo will co-direct alongside Mark Gustafson for this 3D stop-motion retelling of the classic fairytale.
The Jim Henson Company is still producing this revamped adventure, which is set to begin filming next summer. The story will take place between WWI and WWII in Italy, a time when “Everyone was behaving like a puppet, except for puppets,” Guillermo del Toro has stated. Gris Grimly, artist of the book this particular version of the story is based on, and Adam Parrish King were set as the film’s original directors last year, but del Toro has stepped in to direct due to the complexity of the project.
Matthew Robbins wrote the screenplay from a story by Guillermo del Toro, which finds the puppet traveling the world, proving himself to be as indestructible as his love for his human father. The film will be shopped at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Nick Cave is serving as the musical director.
Cameron Diaz and Benicio Del Toro Join Agent: Century 21
Benicio Del Toro may not be the first name that comes to mind when it comes to action comedies, but he’s going for one and he and Cameron Diaz are both attached to star in Agent: Century 21. The film is written by Greg Brooker (Stuart Little) and will be directed by Adam Hashemi, who will make his feature film debut.
Crushed by her recent divorce, Mary Kay Curly (Diaz) cannot catch a break. Desperate to protect the two most important things in her life, her kids and her real estate agent job, Mary Kay agrees to take on an unpleasant task for her boss that accidentally gets her kidnapped and tossed into the centre of a Mexican drug war. Armed with little more than her maternal instincts and a streak of pure dumb luck, Mary Kay must overcome incredible odds and outsmart the FBI, various underground crime lords and an international terrorist organization- in time to make it home for dinner.
No prizes for guessing Del Toro will be involved in the Mexican drug war side of things. The movie is set to start shooting in September 2012. (Source: Variety)
Hunger Games Gets Starving Games Spoof
Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg, who are best known for Meet the Spartans, Disaster Movie, Vampires Suck, and the upcoming The Biggest Movie of All Time 3D, are reuniting for yet another spoof of pop culture, this time taking aim at The Hunger Games.
Called The Starving Games (I know, what a hilarious title, right?), the film will follow the same basic plot of this year’s blockbuster while weaving in jokes about The Avengers, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, and Harry Potter, as well as anything else Seltzer and Friedberg can think of.
The main plot will revolve around a group of obese teenagers forced to eat to the death at a Las Vegas buffet by a government who feels fat kids are out of control. Of course, we will be greeted by characters like Fatniss Evereat and Pita Limon Meringue. I’m sure your sides are splitting already.
The film is set to go before cameras later this year, with rights being sold at the Cannes International Film Festival.
Gangster Squad Trailer – Ryan Gosling gets out his guns
Ever since the cast for Gangster Squad started coming together – Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Emma Stone – it appeared it could be something special. Now we’ve got the trailer and it suggests the film will be extremely cool. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and – if he has his way – every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. Gangster Squad is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.’
Kyle Chandler Boards Scorsese’s Wolf Of Wall Street
With the shoot scheduled for this summer, Martin Scorsese is busy filling out the cast of The Wolf of Wall Street. He’s already got Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill onboard, and now Deadline reports that Kyle Chandler has signed on too.
The film is an adaptation of the Jordan Belfort memoir, which follows the multimillionaire stockbroker through his dramatic rise and fall on Wall Street. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Belfort, who experiences a dramatic rise on Wall Street and gets lost in the drugs and excess of a hard partying lifestyle that comes hand in hand with all that money. His downfall is precipitous, as he spent 22 months in jail before straightening out his life.
Chandler will play FBI agent Coleman, who built the case against Jordan Belfort and took him down. Jonah Hill is playing Jordan Belfort’s close friend and business partner, who’s persuaded by Belfort to quit his job in the furniture business to jump into volatile world of stocks. The script was adapted by Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter.
