For several years, Capote director Bennett Miller has been working on the movie Foxcatcher, but he got rather sidelined making Moneyball. Now that movie is out of the way, he’s back on Foxcatcher and recently attached Steve Carell to the lead role. Now the LA Times reports that Channing Tatum may be joining him in the movie. No deal has been signed as yet, but Tatum is apparently in talks.
Based on a true story Carell will play John Du Pont, heir to the Du Pont family, who was convicted of murdering his friend, Olympic Gold Medal winning wrestler, David Schultz – the role that Channing Tatum is up for. No motive was ever established, which may be because Du Pont was diagnosed with schizophrenia, so it was all in his own head. After the shooting, Du Pont then holed himself up in his mansion for two days while negotiating with the police. Indeed it’s the mansion and farm that give the movie its name, suggesting the film will concentrate on this bit of the multimillionaire’s life.
Miller is currently getting the final pieces of financing sorted for the film, with the hope he’ll be able to start shooting early next year.

There’s little doubt that ever since the credit crunch, Hollywood has been looking at all sorts of different ways of funding movies. While product placement has been popular for a long time, it seems they’re going to try and take things a little further with a remake of The Cannonball Run, by attempting to get General Motors to actually put up an extensive financial stake in the film.

Nicolas Cage is a man who marches to the beat of his own drummer, which has resulted in some great film and an awful lot of dreck. We’ll have to wait and see which end of that spectrum Black Butterfly ends up on, but

After Zombieland, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick became one of the most in-demand screenwriting teams in Hollywood, with the likes of GI Joe 2 and Deadpool handed to them. Now they’ve got another high concept idea to deal with, as
Earlier today we reported that Shia LaBeouf definitely won’t be back for anymore Transformers action, and now we’re wondering whether that’s because he’s got paranoid about looking tiny next to his enormous robotic co-stars. The only reason to think this is that he’s now attached to a project where he gets to be the huge one.
Following a short delay when his marriage exploded amidst revelations of a love child, Arnold Schwarzenegger is now officially back in the movie fold. He recently shot a beefed up role in The Expendables 2 and now Lionsgate has announced the start of production on his full-on comeback movie, The Last Stand.
Having spent years being good without anyone paying much attention (which to be honest, if you’re being good in a supporting role in The Gilmore Girls, perhaps isn’t that shocking), this year the world finally woke up to the existence of Melissa McCarthy.
